Love In Rewind

one hug is fine.

The sun was a bit brighter than usually when Chanyeol leaned against the safety gate of the rooftop. He liked it to have space for himself without anyone talking to him. He got asked too many questions from classmates and teachers. Yes, he was smart but that didn't mean that he couldn't have a bit of freedom. Sometimes Chanyeol wanted to grab his guitar and play alone in peace.

Like right now.

A warm stir of heat washed through his body, clearing out any off-putting thoughts. His fingers brushed against the strings of the guitar and he closed his eyes.

He would soon have to transfer to a high-school. Middle school was fun and all but he wanted to finally move away from this place. So that he could go somewhere where less people would recognise him. He wanted to live a normal life without someone asking him to solve random equations and write songs for them.  He wanted to start anew preferably with his best friend Kris. Only he would know about Chanyeol's secret that he was highly intelligent.

He continued to play for a few minutes until he heard the footsteps of someone.

He wasn't alone?

Chanyeol stopped and carefully put his guitar down to be able to listen to the footsteps that got louder and louder.

Who could that be?

The door shrieked open as Chanyeol held his breath and stared at it. He had to be prepared for whoever that could be. He attentively eyed the person who had entered the rooftop because he swore that he had seen him before. Whoever it was didn't seem to have noticed Chanyeol as he walked around and then looked down to be able to gaze at the people. Would it really matter if Chanyeol would be seen?

"Aren't you the smart one?"

The question came from the guy who suddenly turned around and was directly facing Chanyeol.

This was not the first time that Chanyeol was called like that. But to have heard it like that caused his instincts to take over. He glanced at this guitar and didn't answer just like he always did. Because silence was enough for an answer. The other had understood that too as he nodded his head and approached Chanyeol with a smile. "Are you here for some alone time too?" That was the second question and again Chanyeol was not prepared for that.

His words became muddled in his head as he struggled to put together a proper response.

"Yeah...I guess..." He stared at his guitar strings and randomly strummed them.

This guy was now standing in front Chanyeol, and he cocked his head to the side. "That's nice." He softened his eyes and kept them locked on Chanyeol's. Then without warning he dropped himself next to Chanyeol, looking up to the sky. What was so nice about that? Chanyeol had done that many times. Maybe the other had a busy life and couldn't do that. That was kind of sad. The gazing didn't stop and it made Chanyeol feel slightly uncomfortable. He was used to staring but not from someone as attractive as him.

"I'm Baekhyun." He smiled and this forced Chanyeol more or less to introduce himself too.

He did, and when he said his name Baekhyun hummed in agreement, far too satisfied and pleased to form a reply.

"I'm really tired..." Baekhyun murmured, shutting his eyes for a brief second. Was he going to sleep? But he couldn't...it would make everything more awkward than it already was. Still, Chanyeol couldn't help but enjoy the feel of him this close, so very close and threatening to speed the pace of his heartbeat. Part of him was still dealing with the joyful surprise of it. Chanyeol couldn't leave either because Baekhyun's head slipped down and dropped onto his shoulder.

It was one of the rare times when Chanyeol was physically close to someone- it was actually impossible to get closer than they were without Chanyeol considering run to away. He didn't hate it to be used as a pillow; it was a nice feeling really. Especially since it was Baekhyun who smelled so nice. Just the mere thought was enough to make his heart warm with bubbling delight.

It wasn't planned but Chanyeol found his hand drift to the right side, trembling as his fingers began to play.

Spring was the season of love.

For Chanyeol.

Lu Han couldn't tell if it was his fault but Sehun was acting strange.

He didn't bring his motorbike anymore and rather walked Lu Han home. At first Lu Han just assumed that Sehun forgot his motorbike (which didn't make sense) or simply didn't feel like driving. But this one day turned into two then three and sooner or later a week. Sehun didn't speak much about that matter and casually held onto Lu Han's hand who was side-eying him. This change had to have a reason and Lu Han would soon find it out.

But for now he had to tolerate it and not be nosy.

With a quiet sigh, Lu Han straightened up his shoulders from the tension, letting the relative peace flow around him.

Actually holding hands with Sehun had only advantages. He could still remember their early dating days when Sehun would refuse and push him aside. He still did but it wasn't as harsh. Lu Han smiled to himself as he reflected on those thoughts, those little fragments that would linger in his mind for some time.

"I'm going to drop you straight to your house okay? Not to mine." At that moment, the subject of his feelings spoke up, having apparently noticed how Lu Han was having a little daydream. It took a call for his name to snap out of that and look up to his boyfriend.

"Can't we just go to yours? Please? I swear I'll behave!"

Unsurprisingly, Sehun was not bothered by those empty promises because he knew those tricks. If anything it was a reassuring sign that Lu Han still didn't drop his blackmailing habits and would use them as much as he could. Well in this case it didn't work as Sehun saw through that and could only roll his eyes. If Lu Han tried a bit harder than maybe Sehun would-

No he would still refuse.

"Meanie...I hate you." He muttered with a frown but it was not like Sehun cared as he rolled his eyes again.

"You could spend your time productively than trying to get into my house." That was Sehun's serious reply but Lu Han just smiled it slyly off. It was like he was laughing at something totally different going through his mind. "Can I know what's so funny?" Because hearing Lu Han laugh for so long with no good reason made Sehun annoyed. He paused for a moment, before adding, "Don't tell me if it's disgusting." He gave Lu Han's hand a firm squeeze as a warning he had to acknowledge.

Lu Han stopped and turned to look at him. It was not a gaze that was serious though it was passionate. But that kind of intense stare of amazement that made Sehun regret to have ever asked. Like assumed, he was told to move a bit down so that Lu Han could whisper in his ear. He did, and could practically feel how Lu Han was trembling from keeping his laughter in.

Standing on his toes, Lu Han held onto him and whispered, "You said I should do something productive right? We both can do something productive together...." He then grinned, grabbing Sehun's shoulders and giving him a little shake. His jokes definitely got cheesy- cheesier than they used to be if that was even possible. Not being able to bear that anymore, Sehun shoved the other away who was holding his stomach from laughing.

"You are just..." He couldn't even continue because Lu Han was still smiling at him like that. Seriously, Sehun did not even bother finishing the rant as his mind caught up with what his mouth was going to say. If Sehun would start to lecture him then they would talk and talk...and go to Sehun's house. That was his plan. Lu Han was smart- very smart but Sehun wouldn't fall for that.

"And? Aren't you going to say something?" Lu Han nudged him pouting, seeing that Sehun looked away and avoided another conversation.

Leaning down Sehun smirked before speaking, "No."

Lu Han casted him a perplexed look, one eyebrow somewhat lifted and his lips parted. "Why..." He whined and his disapproval was only a faint call running under his words. He could see how Sehun walked away, his hand lifting to give a dismissive wave before he halted, waiting for Lu Han to follow. Sehun really knew how to not fall for his tricks anymore....he did. Was it really that obvious?

To be honest he was not overly fond of such things in most cases, and this in particular case it made him upset. "Okay..." He murmured quietly and trailed after his boyfriend. This was frankly not one of those days when Sehun would give up and let the other into his house. Maybe Sehun was meeting someone and therefore had to hurry back home?  If possible, he would like to know what was behind Sehun's odd behaviour, but that probably wouldn't happen.

At least he could hold Sehun's hand.

But one phone call changed that all.

Without thinking much Sehun accepted the call and held the phone against his ear. For some reason he wanted to pull his hand away from Lu Han though he changed his mind and let it there. Lu Han was naturally curious so he leaned in closer, keeping his face deliberately clear of emotion for him to see. He tried to find out who it exactly was because Sehun looked away and kept his voice low. It was like he didn't want anyone to listen to his words.

"I'm...not with anyone." Sehun calmly replied, not seeing the disappointed look of Lu Han's face. He also did not realise that it was the wrong thing to say. "Yeah...I'm coming." He ended the call and now slipped his hand from Lu Han's. Finally he caught Lu Han's hurt gaze, taking in the dilating of his pupils and the faint hitch to his breathing. It was easy to misunderstand the situation so Sehun wasn't affected much. Even if Lu Han would misunderstand, he would anyway ask for the truth.

"I have to go back home. You can go on your own right?"

Lu Han shouldn't have been surprised and expected this but he had thought that Sehun would tell him the truth to put his mind at rest. He could easily reassure him that there was nothing to worry over but the longer Sehun stayed quiet, the more he worried. He was on edge. And it seemed like Sehun was oblivious to his boyfriend's dilemma. Yes Lu Han could go home alone but he wanted him to stay.

Just for a bit.

Instead, Lu Han nodded, his voice tight through his clenched teeth as he mumbled, "Of course I can." The urge to ask questions was comprehensive, causing his blood to boil. He wanted to reach out for Sehun and ask him if anything was wrong or if he was worried about something. Sehun was pretty good at hiding that he was obviously troubled. He was generally one of those people who would wait for the right time to come clean.

However, curiosity was far being something Lu Han could successfully suppress and he knew that stirring it was unavoidable. He needed to know if he was on the right track. If his suspicions were true or if he was just reading too much into the situation. It could be that it was nothing to be worried about.

Lu Han was worrying so much that he didn't notice Sehun kissing him goodbye.

After walking aimlessly around for about five minutes, Sehun made his way to his home.

He had to meet someone.

He knew that this day would soon arrive but he didn't know that it was this quick.

He was never that scared to stand in front of his own place. It could be that it was because of the car that had parked in front of his house. His father's car. It was time for a visit. But not a normal visit. Sehun sighed before unlocking the door-perhaps he shouldn't have given his parents a key. It was not like he could take it now away from them. Sehun entered the living room and could already see the head of his family sitting.

Sehun took the opportunity to stare at the back of his father, taking it all in with a flicker of a glance and feeling the first flicker of fear in his gut. He would have stayed longer to stare but even now that the moment had passed, concern had stamped itself in the restrained edges of his calm face.

With one single glance, Sehun was told to sit down.

Without delay, Sehun did as his shoulders were rigid, and his shaky hand was clenched into a fist. The unresponsive expression on his face was more of a frown and even if it weren't for all those little tells, one glance at his eyes would have been enough. He sat down and looked aside. The earlier it would be done; the quicker Sehun would be able to go back to a certain someone. It wasn't difficult to see how let down Lu Han looked by the indirect rejection.

"Sehun I don't have a lot of time so I have to make this quick." His father began and looked up. He didn't need to say more because Sehun already knew. He knew what he wanted. He held a photo in his hand and raised his arm so Sehun could see it. It was a picture of a girl who was the daughter of Sehun's father's friend. He had seen pictures of her for a couple of years now so it wasn't surprising at all. The only surprising thing was that he didn't give up and forced Sehun to look at her.

"She's a good girl. Why can't you just listen to me?"

Why couldn't he just leave Sehun alone? If he could allow Sehun to live on his own then why couldn't he let him choose someone by himself? He already chose anyway Lu Han. Sehun thought to himself, but he kept the words caught between his lips as he gave a slow, thoughtful nod. Maybe after some time his father would give up and let him do his own thing. Mrs Oh after all kept it a secret that Sehun was seeing someone. And it had to stay like that.

"I'll think about it..." Sehun muttered in a bored tone.

A flash of risky dissatisfaction glided across Mr Oh's gaze, too serious for Sehun to overlook, and he felt himself tense. "Sehun. She's waiting for so long. What's stopping you? Do you already have someone in mind?"

Yes.

Yes I do.

Those words never came out. Sehun did not reply; there was no point. For how long would he be able to keep Lu Han a secret? Sehun knew that his father didn't mean any harm. He was sure that with Sehun's attitude it would be difficult to find someone for him. He was right, and they both knew it. But that was before Lu Han appeared. He was the one Sehun wanted to be with.

Mr Oh's meddling, and his concerns, was only meant for his benefit. Rather than ruining Sehun's future; he wanted to help him with having one. He looked up to meet Sehun's puzzled gaze, his eyes closing in a split-second of incredulity as a loud 'thud' got to his ears. It must have come from Sehun's room whose eyes widened. What could that possibly be? He had a feeling that it could be someone but how would Lu Han have entered his house? Secretly through the window?

Another loud and sudden sound made them both pause. Sehun got up and looked upwards, not trusting his gut feeling. If it was really Lu Han then he could prepare himself for a beating. How many times did Sehun tell him to stay away? Frustrated, he closed his eyes for a moment, his expression one of annoyance before he said, "I think my books fell down. I'll be back soon."

His father nodded once in understanding, not bothering to reply as he strained to hear any noise from the rooms beyond. "That must have been a lot of books. Anyway, keep her in mind. It would make her happy." When Sehun heard those words the beating of his heart was loud in his own ears. He slowly made his way upstairs to his room.

A faint voice in his mind told him to rearrange the meeting but Sehun couldn't really. He had so many things going on his brain but he did his best to not pay attention to it. He rather focused every sense on his room where the noise had come from. What was Lu Han doing there? Playing around? Why did he have to meet Sehun for that? And for the third time a muffled beat echoed from his room that was separated from Sehun by a thin door.

Pushing the door open, his eyes moved around he could already spot Lu Han who was jumping on his bed with a book in his hand. When locking eyes with his boyfriend Lu Han stopped jumping to drop back down on the bed. The window was wide open and spoke for itself.

The innocent expression on Lu Han's face didn't help much.

"I'm sorry for coming but I've missed you so much." Lu Han muttered as he looked aside. It was not right for him to have come so he climbed through the window. It didn't make the situation better but Lu Han thought that this would be better than knocking on his door. It would make it more difficult for Sehun to kick Lu Han out like that. Of course Lu Han didn't know about Sehun's father visiting but he simply supposed that Sehun would want him to go.

Sehun's slow brain was progressively assembling together the pieces, and he tried to keep his breathing steady, "You..." He walked forwards and curled his hands into fists.

Lu Han expected to get hit so he put up his hands in self-defence, "Please don't hit me!" He whined but what he got in return was totally different. He twitched as something warm and heavy rested around his shoulders. It was Sehun who pulled Lu Han against his chest. This was not what Lu Han had waited for but he made an effort to ignore the lightheaded twirl of his head as he shut his eyes, placing his forehead boldly against the provided chest.

It was almost given to count the number of beats of Sehun's heart.

It was quick and unsteady.

The smallest movement from Lu Han was restrained by Sehun holding him tightly in place.

"Don't move." Sehun muttered, closing his eyes for a long moment since he wanted to relax. Despite everything that had happened and was going to happen....he just wanted to hug Lu Han.

Just once would be fine.
