the world is not a wish granting factory

Description

Sunggyu's wish is to one day visit Japan, but he knows that his wish can't become a reality because he simply does not have the funds to do so.

One day, the answer to his wish does come along, in the form of someone by the name of Nam Woohyun. However, Sunggyu doesn't realize the world is not a wish granting factory, and doesn't give things for free.

Yes, this fic is based on a book, and free cookies to those who can guess from the title! However, please don't spoil it for others, haha <3 It'll only be loosely based on it!

I'm posting this here to gauge interest in the idea. As well, I'm going to restrain myself from updating this until I finish Cerulean, which I believe will only have 1 chapter left + the epilogue, so look forward to that!

Foreword

“I’ve always wanted to go to Japan. I’ve read a plethora books on the place, surfed the internet for hours looking up potential itineraries. However, that’s as far as I can probably ever get to my life’s dream. Our family has always been on the poor side, and ever since my dad passed away I’ve been working more shifts than is probably legal at this cafe. I really like it here and even though I’m only 19, I recently got promoted to the manager position. Sometimes it gets really tiring, but it’s just enough to pay the bills. I guess Japan will always be a far away and unreachable dream for me.”

“Sunggyu-yah! Table 7 needs some help!” Sunggyu was interrupted from his thoughts by his co-worker, Sungyeol. Sunggyu immediately put on his bright smile and made his way over to the table by the window, where teenaged boy who looked no older than 18 was sitting.

“Can I help you?” Sunggyu said in a polite voice. At that, the boy looked up and gave Sunggyu a beautiful warm smile which effectively stunned him into silence.

And that was how Kim Sunggyu met the love of his life, Nam Woohyun.
