The Art of Sanguinity

Description

I knew a boy who liked to draw,
he drew pictures that nobody saw.
He was most artistic late at night,
in the bathroom out of sight.
He kept a secret no one knew,
he didn't tell a soul and his gallery grew.
His drawings were different, no paper or pen
but needed a bandage now and again.
We stood by the river under the stars,
he rolled up his sleeves and showed me his scars.
He felt embarrassed and looked down at his shoe.
Then I rolled up my sleeves and whispered "I draw too."

Foreword

Hey guys! It's Kai, and Lexi and I are here to try and take on a large task.

Everyone has their own struggles. Sometimes, it feels like you go through them alone. For the longest time, that's how I felt. And then I channeled a lot of the feelings from recovery into a story, and I found I wasn't alone. So many readers came to me saying the story hit close to home, or they could understand the struggles, or that that was how they felt too. I met some great people from there (Lexi included--we've been talking since the summer and she is simply amazing and I recommend every last one of you go and talk to her at some point). I found that I wasn't alone like I thought, and it's not strange to feel as I do.

I can't speak for Lexi's own story, but I can say this: we all have our own struggles. Sometimes, you can't see what they are. But everyone has them.

And nobody is alone. That's where this story came from. Lexi and I were originally going to just write a story from that poem above for each other. But Lexi came up with a better plan: why not try to reach out to others?

We want to reach out to fans of every single kpop band. Yes, every single one. Here's the problem: we don't have the time to learn about all of these bands we might not be interested in, and then write a story about the members that seems realistic. But that's where readers come in. We have a few bands covered already and the first chapters should be up eventually. It's barely a dent in the world of kpop, though. What we need is other writers, who know other bands and who write well. So you want to write? Want to recommend someone to write? Message us, drop a comment, go to our tumblrs (kai's, lexi's, project tumblr), reach us however you want. We'll direct you through the process from there.

Hopefully, we can reach out to so many fans from this project. We want to help people as we have been and are being helped. Life's not short--it's the longest thing you will experience. But that's all the more reason to not spend it feeling alone.

*If you are ever in a serious situation or just want to talk/rant/vent/anything, you're more than welcome to come talk to me (Kai). I've dealt with enough to try to understand and I'm trained in suicide prevention and crisis help, so I'll do my absolute best to make sure you are okay.*

And if you want to read the story I'm talking about, it's Some of Us Just Need a Little Help (shameless self promotion, haha).

FYI: !!!TRIGGER WARNING!!!

These stories will contain self harm themes and anything that people will feel relate to it - anything specific other than self harm will be listed at the top of each chapter, otherwise, I'm 99% sure they'll all be self-harm centric because... that's what the prompt is. So yeah. TRIGGER WARNING RIGHT HERE. NICE AND OBVIOUS. DON'T LIKE/WANT? DON'T READ. BE SENSIBLE. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. PLEASE.
