Chapter 2 | Euna

Photographers-For-Hire

This has been an eventful last two weeks. I thought to myself as I quietly climbed out of bed and tiptoed past the bunk bed where two teenage idols slept. I had made sure to grab my laptop bag as well as my textbooks before I carefully slipped out of the room shutting the door behind me with a soft click. It wasn't until after dinner that everything had settled down and everyone had gone off to do their own things. The lounging area was still a mess so there was no way I was about to go and do any work in there at the moment, so I made my way over to the kitchen to sit in there, but that was a mess too. The counter was still stained with Jin's blood and there were a number of dirty dishes in the sink as well. This isn't going to work. I thought to myself with a sigh once more as I walked back into the lounge and set my laptop on the couch before stepping back to scan the entire mess the place was in. This is going to be a long night. I thought to myself as I started working on putting everything back into order as best as I could without making too much noise. All the while, I let my mind wonder off to how I'd gotten here. I couldn't help but smile.

About a week and a half ago...

It feels strange being in front of the camera instead of behind it. I thought to myself as I mentally prepped myself for my interview. After waiting in line for what felt like forever and filling out an application, I finally made it into the conference room where the interviews were being held. I wasn't too sure how it would go, but I braced myself for whatever was to come. Upon entering the conference room, I noticed that there was a white backdrop set up in the middle of the room with a chair in front of it as well as a microphone. A video camera was set up not too many feet away from it. The equipment they were using was very high-end tech. I hope that I afford to own something like that someday. I thought to myself as I turned my head to a group of people sitting at a long table. A very professional looking woman directed me to the chair and soon enough, I was handing off my application as well as my portfolio. I slipped my bag off and set it down beside the chair before I sat down. Soon enough, I was being recorded and people were asking me questions. "Your name is Cho Euna." A man stated as he read through my application. "You're sixteen years old?" He added on raising a brow at me.

"Yes." I said timidly into the microphone trying my best not to eye them as they started going through my portfolio.

"Shouldn't you be in school?" A woman sneered this time giving me what seemed to be a scowl. These corporate heads are just tons of fun. I thought sarcastically to myself before I replied.

"I take classes online from a private tutor." I said simply watching them stiffly as they continued their scrutiny.

"Homeschooling is illegal." She said with a smirk. I have no idea what you're smirking about. And why are you trying to make me seem less than what I am? I thought as I fought the urge to roll my eyes.

"Yes, I know that." I began. "That doesn't necessarily apply to me." I continued on. "My family and I moved to America and I studied there until I was twelve. I returned here and in order to keep my credits, I was allowed to enroll into online schooling." I paused. "I'm sorry, but what does this have to do with the interview?" I questioned looking straight back at the man who sat centered at the table.

"You're right." He replied. "It doesn't." He added before sending a glare toward the woman. She immediately retreated back from her almost confident demeanor into that of a kicked puppy. I however took no pity for her. "You are by far, our youngest applicant." He continued on. "Why are you applying for this position?" From then on, it was nothing but back and forth questions and answers. The interview took an overall hour considering that they had asked me about every single detail of my life. I swear, I've never had anyone so interested in finding out why I did the things I did. "One final question before we let you go." He said simply. I nodded and then he asked, "What's your motivation for applying for this job?" I couldn't help but let a sad smile grace my lips before I answered. And with that, we were finished. They explained that they would call me if anything, I collected my portfolio after they had taken copies of the photos, and I was on my way.

The next two days were far from eventful for me. I hadn't scheduled anything for the next two weeks in the event that I actually get the job and have to pack up my life, so I just lounged around my apartment catching up with my online classes. On the third day, I had decided to hang out with Hana even though I knew that she'd probably drag me out shopping. I wasn't wrong. "You should try this on!" She squealed as she pulled an expensive looking dress off the rack. "It goes with your eyes." She added on holding it up to my small frame. I didn't resist the urge to roll my eyes this time.

"My eyes are brown." I replied brushing her off. "Nothing goes with brown, unnie." I continued on. "Stop trying to force clothes that I can't afford, on me." I sighed as I continued to skim through the store for something she'd probably wear. This is something we always did. It was our form of bonding I guess. Especially when the both of us lead such busy lives. She just started her nursing program at the nearby hospital and I was still trying to pick up jobs to help pay off hospital bills as well as rent for the apartment.

"Oh hush." She said pinching my arm. "A lot of things go with brown." She said as she grabbed another dress. "Like this dress." She added. "You're definitely trying them on!" She sang as she skipped off to find more dresses for me to wear. Again, this is usually how things went between us. She'd pick a pile of clothes for me to try on where only one of them really compliment me and I'd find two for her and they'd definitely hands down compliment her. I sighed again as I trudged the opposite way coming upon another dress that she'd most likely purchase. I grabbed it off the rack and examined it. It seemed fitting for her personality. With that, I hung the dress over my forearm and walked back to where Hana was. As I approached her, I noticed a large grin on her face as she walked toward me.

"Oh no." I almost groaned upon seeing how many dresses she had stacked up. She just nodded her head and did a little happy dance in turn.

"Oh yes." She replied practically squealing and jumping up and down. "You are definitely getting this one." She added on as she shoved the dress into my face. "This dress will get you all the guys, Euna!" She added on still giggling. I couldn't help but laugh with her because as I examined the dress some more, I found myself actually liking it a lot. "Do you like it?" She asked with a hopeful twinkle in her eye. I stared at her for a long moment before finally conceding with a smile.

"You didn't go wrong this time, unnie." I said playfully. "But you know, I can't afford anything especially in this store." I finished.

"As if I'm going to let you walk out of this store without this dress." She said immediately snatching it from my hands again. "I'm paying for it." She added on with a smug look on her face. That probably showed up because my eyes had gone wide. "No buts, Eunnie!" She giggled. "This is an early birthday present from me to you." She smiled before taking my arm and shoving me into the changing room with all the dresses she had picked. "Try on all of those and pick two favorites!" She finished off as she took the dresses I had picked for her off of my arm. "If you don't, then I'm just going to buy all of them and force them on you!" She sang as she walked away. I stared at the door in disbelief. I knew for a fact that she would most likely do what she threatened me with. Ugh.. No use in resisting. I thought to myself as I set my bag down and started to strip off my clothes. Time for dress number one.

All in all, it had taken me about thirty minutes to try on each dress. Every five minutes she'd yell at me for taking so long. Out of the five dresses that I had been given, two of them weren't so bad. I give her props. I thought to myself as I slipped my clothes back on and grabbed the dresses to return and hand off to Hana. Upon stepping out, I was bombarded with a number of questions from Hana until my phone rang cutting her off. Thanks the mighty interruption gods for getting her to stop. I thought silently praising them watching as my friend went off to pay for the dresses. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and slipped it open. "Hello?" I asked not checking for the number. Was I sure in for a surprise after that.

"Hello, am I speaking to a Miss Cho Euna?" The person asked. I raised a brow and looked at the phone questioningly checking the number. Upon inspection, I found that it was the same number I had contacted the week before about applying for that photography position. My heart immediately dropped and my voice got stuck in my throat. "Hello, is anyone there?" The person asked again and this time, I responded.

"Yes. This is her speaking." I said as professionally as I could. "How may I help you?" I asked a second later. Stay calm, Euna. Stay calm. I could see Hana giving me a look as I turned around and continued to chat with the person on the other end of the line.

"I just called to inform you of how your interview went." They replied simply and I could feel myself tense. Hana had already finished paying by this point in time and was now walking closer to me, but I waved her off to be quiet. "Do you have moment?" The person asked after another pause and I physically nodded my head despite them not being able to see me. Everything felt so surreal at that moment.

"Yes I do." I said as slowly as I could. "How did it go exactly?" I added on as an after thought feeling Hana's eyes bore circles into the back of my head.

"To say the least, you were like a breath of fresh air to them, Miss Cho." My eyes widened like saucers. "One of the managers loved your interview and when they saw what your portfolio had to offer, they chose you right on the spot." Tears started to fill my eyes. "Congratulations, you're one of the five photographers selected." They added on before they continued on by saying that they had sent more information to my email and that I'd have to come back to Big Hit to meet with the CEO as well as the manager who had picked me. I was officially at a loss for words.

"Thank you so much for calling." I said in a quiet voice before finally hanging up and looking over at Hana. I bit my lip before finally letting out a laugh and allowing a giant smile to grace my face. "I need to start packing." I chuckled softly feeling some of the tears leak out from my eyes and I was immediately pulled into a hug.

"Oh my god!" She squealed. "You were chosen!" She continued on laughing happily and giddily. "You were chosen!" She nearly shrieked again. I just nodded and laughed with her. "I knew they'd pick you!" She continued to rant on. "They'd be stupid if they didn't!" She finished off as she dragged me out of the store.

"Where are we going?" I asked still laughing and wiping at the tears of joy that came out of my face. I was on cloud nine at the moment and nothing could bring me down.

"We are going to go have a celebratory dinner in your honor!" She replied tugging me down the street to a twenty-four hour korean barbecue restaurant. Not that I minded at all. Things were finally starting to look up for me. The rest of our time spent together was filled with laughter and I couldn't have felt any better. The rest was history at that point. The next day I had gone back to BIG HIT, met up with the manager as well as the CEO, and signed a contract. The group that I'd been assigned to was called BTS and when I told Hana this, she almost fainted. Apparently they were very popular and she her bias was one of their vocalists called Jin. And so, I packed up what I would probably need for six months, told Hana to watch the apartment for me while I was away, and I was off to meet the people I'd be living with for six months.

Hours earlier...

Things of course were never as simple as one would think they'd be. I learned that the minute I stepped through the door of what was to be my home for the next half of a year. I was trailing after their manager wearing my back pack, messenger bag, and dragging my luggage case behind me with my duffel bag secured to the top of it. When I had entered, everything was in complete and utter chaos. Even then, I don't think chaos was a good words to describe it. It was that bad. Two people who I came to know as V/Taehyung and Jungkook were wrestling with each other on the floor of the lounge and knocking everything out of order. I had winced as I saw the noogie that Jungkook gave the poor boy he was holding in a headlock. Next were Rap Monster/Namjoon and Jimin who were scrambling around the place with paper towels in their arms for reasons only god knew.

Next were J-Hope, Suga, and Jin. The three of them were screaming in the kitchen and from what I could tell, nothing was going right seeing as I could smell smoke and someone was yelling about blood. That was quite the first impression. I wasn't too sure whether I should speak up about it or something, but their manager did it for me anyway. "WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!" He bellowed from where he stood beside me. Everyone had frozen in their places and didn't dare make a sound. Well almost everyone at least. There was still a bit of commotion going on in the kitchen. Pinching the bridge of his nose, manager oppa directed me to go check what was going on in there and I did as soon as I set all my bags down. Upon entering the kitchen, it was a mess too. A frantic Hoseok/J-Hope was fanning at what seemed to be a burning dinner and Yoongi/Suga was trying to help calm a hysteric Seokjin/Jin who was clutching his hand in a bunch of blood soaked paper towels. Apparently he had cut his hand and those were what Jimin and Rap Monster were gathering the paper towels for. This is definitely not what I was expecting when I first came here. I thought to myself as I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. I immediately went to J-Hope's side.

"Which stove top is ?" I asked as calmly as possible. He didn't say a word, but pointed to one knob and I immediately flipped it off. I scanned the area next for something to grab the heated pan and snatched a dish rag that was lying on the floor. I wrapped it around the handle a couple times before I carried off to the sink, dropping it down into the basin and turning on the tap. There was a good amount of steam after that, but once it had subsided, I could breathe easier than before. I next made my way over to Suga and Jin. Jin was seated at one of the stools in front of the counter still clutching at his hand in the blood soaked paper towels and Suga was still attempting to calm his frantic friend. "What happened?" I asked softly not wanting to upset the two young men.

"Jin hyung was cutting vegetables for dinner and I accidentally hit him while walking by and he cut his hand." Suga replied sounding extremely guilty for what he had done. I just nodded my head before turning to Jin.

"Oppa, may I see your cut?" I asked softly holding out my hand. "I know you're hurting, but if you want it to stop, you need to let me help you." I added on watching as the reluctanct vocalist removed some of the paper towels before showing me his hand. I almost winced when I saw the gash in his hand. Aishh! That must've hurt a lot. No wonder he's crying. I thought to myself. I then looked toward both Suga and J-Hope who were watching with interest. "Can one of you please find me a first aid kit for your friend?" I requested watching as the two of them scrambled to go grab what I had requested. I gently grabbed Jin's arm and directed him toward the side of the sink that did not have a sizzling pan of gross. "Oppa, I need you to hold your hand under the water so we can wash off all the dried blood." I said softly. Surprisingly enough, he let me take hold of his hands and I held it underneath the cold water and gently rubbed away at the blood. I made sure not to agitate the wound on his hand anymore than needed and by the time I had finished, Suga and J-Hope had come back with the first aid kit before informing us that manager oppa had wanted everyone to meet in the lounge after I had finished tending to Jin's wound. I lead Jin to sit down on the same stool and had him press another paper towel down onto the cut to help subdue the bleeding for a bit. While he sat there, I popped open the kit and pulled out some antiseptic, a few cotton pads, some ointment, and a bit of gauze.

"Thank you for helping me." He said softly and I smiled at him. It's usually what I do. "Who are you?" He asked and I just shook my head. I held out my hand and he placed his injured one back into it.

"My name is Cho Euna and I'm your live-in photographer for the next six months." I replied as I poured some antiseptic into the cap of the bottle and dipped a cotton pad into it allowing it to soak. When I looked up, I noticed the stunned look in his eyes. "I'm guess you weren't told then?" I asked feeling a slight bit nervous about that.

"No, no." He replied immediately. "We were told about a photographer coming to live with us, but we didn't know that you'd be a girl." He paused. "No offense." He added scratching the back of his neck sheepishly. I just chuckled in turn.

"It's no problem." I said quietly as I picked up the cotton pad and held it over the wound. "I didn't actually think that anyone would pick me." I chuckled to myself. "This is going to sting a little bit." I warned glancing up and watching him brace himself. I pressed the pad down onto the wound quickly and watched him jolt.

"AISHHH!" He cried out probably loud enough for the others to hear. "You said that it would hurt a little bit!" He accused me as if I had betrayed him and I just chuckled.

"Calm down." I replied cooly. "This is just to make sure it doesn't get infected." I added on swiping at the cut in slow before I opened up the ointment and gently dabbed the onto the cut with the other side of the cotton pad. "So are things naturally this crazy here?" I asked nonchalantly with a bit of a grin on my face as I grabbed a clean cotton pad and placed it over the cut. I heard him chuckle in reply and I glanced up to see a smile on his face too.

"Not usually, but today we wanted to make a good first impression on you, so we all cleaned up the apartment, set up your bed, and everything." He breathed. "That didn't go as planned though because V and Jungkook both got into a fight over who cleaned better and-." I cut him off with a wave of my hand as I began wrapping his hand with the gauze.

"Say no more, you guys made one hell of an impression on me if I must say." I said with a chuckle. "And I don't mind the chaos too much." I added. "It's refreshing." I finished off as I tied off the last bit of Jin's bandage securely. "All done." I breathed letting go. "Don't move it around too much or the wound my open up again." I continued. "Also depending on how deep it is, you might need to get stitches for it." I added on as an afterthought as I started packing away the first aid kit. He had decided to wait for me to finish before we both walked back out to the lounging area. It was still just as much of a mess as it had been before, but all the boys were seated on the sofa. Jin had gone off to sit on the arm rest next to Suga and I had gone back to standing beside their manager. After what seemed to be a long lecture, everyone had been introduced and I was directed to my living space. I would be staying with Jimin and Jungkook. As it had turned out, their room was the largest out of the rest and they had a bed put in just for me. Considering that it had been a tiring day for me, I opted out of joining them for some pizza which they had decided to order and went straight to putting away some clothes for the night. I ended up not doing much and just grabbed some pajamas out and changed into them before saying goodnight to them all. Might as well as get some sleep before my lessons. I thought as I pulled the covers up to my chest for the night. It wasn't until hours later that I woke up to soft snoring. Probably coming from one of the two sleeping boys in the bunk bed across the room.

At the moment...

I let out a happy sigh of contentment after I'd finished up cleaning the lounge as well as the kitchen. Looking at my handiwork, I yawned looking back at the wall clock that hung over the television. 1am? A new record. I thought to myself triumphantly as I grabbed my laptop and my textbook once again and moved to the kitchen. I fixed myself some hot chocolate which V had graciously said that I could have if I wanted and plopped myself into a stool at the counter. Slipping on my headset, I logged onto the class site. "Sorry I'm late..." I said into my microphone to greet my tutor while taking a sip of hot chocolate. "I had some business to attend to." I added on to which she scoffed.

"What could you possibly be doing at 1am?" She asked incredulously while I shook my head. You have no idea. I thought to myself after setting down the mug. "Anyway, I went over the assignments you sent me, and you did extraordinarily well on them." She praised. "Good job, Euna." She added on before going on to tell me about new assignments that I'd have to take care of by the end of the week and discussing the new schedule I'd be following for the next six months or so. Our session ended around 2:30am and by that time, I was already exhausted. I signed off yawning even louder than before. I proceeded to wash my mug out in the sink before placing it onto the drying rack before collecting my things and returning back to my shared bedroom. I quietly tiptoed back in and set all my things onto the night stand beside my bed before climbing under the covers. Tomorrow will be a big day. I thought to myself with a smile as I drifted off.
