2. What is in your characters refrigerator right now?

Her shared refrigerator with her roommate, anyways the stuff that belonged to her there were cheese, durian ice cream, pistachio ice cream, water cabbage, biscuits, cranberry juice , spinach and artichoke, banana.

3. On her bedroom floor?

On her bedroom floor she has some books scattered, poetry, story books, some political books and readings she only skimmed through. Messy things. Because she only does clean-up weekly, she has coins scattered there, as well as the inevitable coin.

4. On her nightstand?

She has a lamplight, a picture of her parents when they were younger, a calendar, and her notebooks and pens, it was very organized. She seldom uses it and instead perches on her bed or on the sofa in uncomfortable-looking positions when  writing papers or watching stuff. She only stays in her room when it’s time to sleep.

5. In her garbage can?

The garbage can is filled with paper, toilet paper, banana peels and food wrappers, and a take-out box.

6. Look at your characters feet. Describe what you see there.

She is lounging on her sofa right now so her feet are bare. Her toenails have a pretty shape and are well-kept. Her feet are white, and blushes red on the edges. She has very nice feet. She likes wearing thick white socks when its cold but doesn’t like using slippers outside, and instead uses flats. She likes the feeling of her feet when she is in high heels. She has two pairs of them.

7. When your character thinks of her childhood kitchen, what smell does she associate with it? Sauerkraut? Oatmeal cookies? Paint? Why is that smell so resonant for her?

Her childhood kitchen smelled like spaghetti and boiled bananas, because that’s what the maid used to cook to to her and her brother in the afternoons after their classes. She used to tell them stories about mythological creatures that ate babies, and had the weekly horror stories collection with her. Sometimes they would go to the beach or tend to the garden. She always associated the kitchen with spaghetti and warm and sunny afternoons.

8. Your character is doing intense spring cleaning. What is easy for her to throw out? What is difficult for her to part with? Why?

It is easy to throw out her clothes for her, books no, pictures no. She has memories of reading the books  and the pictures being taken, but she doesn’t have memories associated with her clothes. They’re replaceable. She likes drawing notes on the sides of her books and likes reading them when she goes to reread them.

9. Its Saturday at noon. What is your character doing?

She is watching a movie or eating her lunch. Her lunch is two pieces of toast with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon, a half-cooked egg and two pieces of bacon. Sometimes its Cheerios. She eats her breakfast late on Saturdays, because she usually stays in. She watches The Seventh Seal or Hyeong Seur-hyong film from her list of films to watch.  She wakes up very early in the morning and the first thing she does is check the internet, goes to read a book and then when it’s time to eat, watches a movie.

Seunghyun, Tempo

3. Does your character have a birthmark? Where is it? What about scars? How did he get them?

He doesn’t have a birthmark although he has a scar on his right hand from being bitten by a snake. He was a child and he thought it was a big worm. He didn’t know about snakes yet. It was his first time going to the mountains to visit his grandfather, and he was bitten.

4. Who are your characters friends and family? Who does she surround herself with? Who are the people your character is closest to? Who does he wish he were closest to?

He has his mom and his sister, he loves his mom so much because she tries to understand him. His sister however doesn’t. His sister dismisses his ideas as weird or silly. So he goes to his grandfather to talk, or older people since they try to understand him. Almost all of his friends are older people. He is closest to his grandfather who was a writer. He loves his grandfather so much, but he yearns for something as well. He wishes he would be close to people his age, but finds it difficult to do so, since they have different interests than him and seemingly doesn’t want to have patience with him, the way his sister treats him.

5. Where was your character born? Where has he lived since then? Where does he call home?

Seunghyun was born in Jamsil. He has lived in Jamsil all his life, although he visits his grandfather frequently, at least twice a month or more when he felt especially lonely. He lived in an urban neighborhood and hanged out at clubs to rap, he became friends with Jonghyun and Zino and Yoochun who he has gigs with. He likes the mountains but he can never be in there. He feels restless, but he feels most comfortable in his mom’s house. He feels restless and has nightmares in his apartment so he fills it with nice furniture and toys, bearbricks.
