Friday, I'm In Love

[ONESHOT] Friday, I'm In Love

It was Friday and JiWon just got out of her last class of the day and the week. She was feeling very tired for she stayed up the whole night to finish her painting for her art class. The results were more than satisfactory though. Her professor really liked her work, which made it all worth while. They were dismissed early from class because they only needed to submit and explain their projects.

She stretched out her arms, smiling at the beautiful day. The sun was shining bright, but not harsh enough to burn. There was a light wind dancing in the sky with the trees. JiWon watched as students sat down on the grass, reading their books, chatting with friends.

She wanted to sit down and feel the earth as well. She sighed a little, feeling a little sad that she couldn’t spend the day with anyone. Her best friend, and probably all her others friends, were still in class. And the one person she really wanted to spend the day with was definitely busy. She plugged in her earphones and started walking towards the parking lot when she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket. She smiled as she saw the name flashing on her phone.

She pressed the green button and held the phone up to her ear, a playful smile on her lips. “What do you want?” she asked with an annoyed tone.

“Well hello to you too.” Came a pouting voice. She giggled silently, hearing him speak. “Did something bad happen in class?” he asked, clearly worried about the girl. “He didn’t like your work? You stayed up all night for it!” he ranted on as JiWon sat inside her car.

She couldn’t take it any longer and let out a short giggle. “I was just kidding. He liked it. I got full marks.” She said. “Why are you calling me? Aren’t you supposed to be busy?” she retorted.

The male voice chuckled in reply. “Thank you for mildly freaking me out.” He said. “I am busy.” He said, matter-of-factly. “But I’m not too busy for my girlfriend.” Being Park Kyung, a hiphop idol, he was very busy indeed recording for their new album and for other promotions.

She can already imagine him grinning widely. “Shut up Kyung.”

“What are you doing?”

“Watching people enjoy the warm sun and nice breeze outside. Makes me want to just sit down on the grass and talk.” JiWon replied as she stopped in front of her car. Then she heard other male voice chattering and teasing Kyung. “Are you at Brand New Stardom?” she asked.

“Uhh… Yup!” He replied. “Are you coming?” he asked back.

“I can.” She replied simply. “SooJin and EunMi are probably still in class and I’m bored plus it’s a great day outside and I really want to see my boyfriend whom I haven’t seen in over a week already.” JiWon complained over the phone, driving carefully out of her parking spot.

“BRING FOOOOOOD!” she heard another distant voice call out.

“Do you have me on loud speaker?!” JiWon demanded her boyfriend.

“No! No! They’re eavesdropping.” Kyung explained.

“JiWon-ah~ If you’re coming please bring food. I am hungry.” A deep voice said all of a sudden. “This is JiHoonie~” he said in a sing-songy voice.

“Pizza! Pizza!” Another voice demanded which she guessed was Taeil’s.

JiWon couldn’t help but chuckle at the boys’ demands. “Yeah, they passed around my phone.” Came Kyung’s voice this time.

“Alright, I’ll drive by to get some food and I’ll see you soon.” She said. They said their goodbyes and hanged up.

JiWon quickly dropped by to buy some pizza, chicken and sodas then drove over to the Brand New Stardom office. Being Zico’s sister definitely had its perks. Her hands were full of food as she entered the office, going straight to the all-too familiar recording room in the Brand New Stardom office where 9 men were all cramped up in.

“JIWON!” Zico called out first and stood up, grabbing the pizza box and plastic on her hands.

“FOOD!!!” JiHoon and Taeil called out and ran towards the table.

“Hello to you guys too.” JiWon replied with a small chuckle as the boys gathered around the small table.

She felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned to see, Cho PD, Brand New Stardom’s boss, smiling at her. “Thank you for coming and bringing food for the boys.” He said. “They’ve been complaining endlessly.”

JiWon chuckled and nodded. “You’re welcome boss.” She said with a nod. “Please, have some to eat.” She said. Cho PD nodded and joined the rest of the boys.

JiWon squeaked a little when she felt arms creeping around her waist. She turned around to see the boyfriend that she hasn’t seen for a week. “Hello.” He said simply and grinned. “I didn’t think you’d really come.” He said.

JiWon frowned a little. “And why not?” she retorted, pulling away from his grasp. She really didn’t like public skinship at all.

Kyung shrugged. “Just thought you’d go back to your apartment to sleep since you were up until 5am?” he said. “I missed you though.” He said.

“Hey, if you two are gonna be like that, can you go somewhere else please?” Zico retorted all of a sudden. “I mean, come on Kyung, it’s bad enough that you’re dating my sister but having to see you two cheesy is disgusting.” He said, taking a bite out of the pizza.

JiWon hit her brother playfully on the arm. They all ate the pizza and chicken and afterwards, recording resumed. JiWon sat there and watched as the boys took turns inside the recording booth, most specially paying attention to Kyung and not realizing that she had drifted into sleep.

It was almost 5 in the morning when Kyung finished recording his parts for their new album. Kyung saw JiWon sleeping on the couch. He carefully woke her up, took her hand and led her outside the recording booth. She looked at him with question in her eyes. “We can’t really talk there.” He explained.

Kyung intertwined his hand in hers and led her outside the office. “Where are we going?” she asked as they got in the elevator. Kyung pressed the down button and remained quiet. “Kyung, where are we going?” she asked again.

“Just, somewhere.” He replied, glancing at his girlfriend who was obviously frustration. He chuckled, “just, trust me you hasty woman.” He said, pinching her nose with his free hand.

The elevator doors opened at the ground floor and the two of them went out of the building and walked across the street. Kyung led the two of them at the park near their office. “What are we doing here?” she asked.

Kyung sighed and sat down on the grass, in front of her. She raised an eyebrow at him. “Sit down will you?” he asked. JiWon smirked but sat down next to him. “When you told me you were watching people spend the nice day outside, I felt kind of guilty.” He told her admittedly. “I wanna take you out on a nice day too, but I’m sorry I’m too busy.”

She smiled and took his hand, putting hers on top of his. “You don’t have to be sorry about that.” She replied, smiling at him. “I mean, it’s your job and I agreed to this didn’t I?” JiWon told him, placing her head on his shoulder. She chuckled, “this is still a nice evening isn’t it?” she asked.

Kyung chuckled, peering into her face. “You sure you don’t mind?” he asked her and she simply waved her head in reply and closed her eyes. “You wanna lay on my lap?” he asked. JiWon opened her eyes and raised an eyebrow. “I know you’re tired and no one’s here anyway.” He said.

She really didn’t care about anything else aside from the two of them. She stretched out her body and laid her head on Kyung’s lap. She sighed contentedly and closed her eyes.

He had his eyes on her the whole time, his fingers, getting tangled up in her hair as he played with it. He hummed a tune for her and started singing. Then he heard her laughing. “Please, just rap forever.” She said and cocked an eye open to look at Kyung slightly pouting. “Just kidding.” She said quickly with a giggle.

Kyung took his time in appreciating the woman lying down on his lap. He watched as she looked up into the navy blue sky, her eyes slightly glittering from the lamppost nearby. How she had a small mole, barely noticeable, on her right cheek. Her small nose and her pink lips always curved into a smile. Then he asked himself what he did to deserve a girl like her.

JiWon only noticed this when she looked at him. “W-Why are you staring?” she asked, slightly stuttering as she felt conscious of Kyung’s stare.

The latter chuckled. He brought his hand to her cheek, “Just admiring how beautiful you are.” He replied with a grin.

JiWon scoffed. “You only realized that now?” she asked him, swatting his hand away and pouting.

Kyung chuckled and made her look at him. “No, even as we grew up I always knew that you are going to grow up a beautiful woman.” He complimented her.

“Grease ball.” JiWon retorted with a small smile.

“You like it anyway.” He said.

She couldn’t help but smile. It was true. She loved everything about him. He was everything she could ask for and more. Kyung is sweet, he was thoughtful and very affectionate. She stared at him from where she was laying. “Kyung,” she called out to him and he looked down at her. “Why do you like me?” she asked.

Kyung just raised his eyebrow and chuckled. “What do you mean?” he asked.

JiWon shrugged. “I’m boring. I lack humor when you jest. I always tend to ask more questions rather than tell answers. I always forget where I put down my cup of coffee when I go around your dorm. I am far from being the perfect woman inside your head. I’m too common for the eyes. I’m a far cry from the unique person you’re trying to tell me. I’m just a nobody and you want a somebody. I can’t give you that. But I’m willing to try.” she cried.

“Of course you’re boring, and you force your laughter when I jest, and you ask bunch of questions even if it’s lame, and you always misplace your cup, and you’re just a nobody, and not really unique. But that’s what I loved about you.” he replied, smiling softly.

“What’s there to love?”

The smile grew even bigger, wider, and softer. He lowered himself toward her and cupped her right cheek. It was plump and glowing.

“Because if I fall in love with somebody that always meets my expectation, then where’s the fun in that? Ain’t it better to be in love with someone for their imperfections? Ain’t it better to be in love with someone who’s actually willing to try, who’s actually being the real her and not somebody that I want her to be? Ain’t it better?”

The truth peeled off the rising sadness in her. Then she smiled and shook her head, tears were in the corners of her eyes. He smiled back and closed his eyes. Everything was glowing.

“Here in my heart, you’ll always be perfect, you’ll always be unique, you’ll always be loved. You’ll always be that nobody that’s everything to me. I love you and you love me. Let’s leave it like that.” he whispered.

“I love you and you love me. Let’s leave it like that,” she repeated.

And they kissed. What a sweet kiss it was.

Chapter 1: This is really, really well written (aside from the random spelling error haha)

The ending was brilliantly worded. :)
