The Devil's Egg

Description

1950
Mayden, California

It was the turn of a century when a travelling carnival stopped in the picturesue town of Mayden. The townsfolk are less than accomadating to strangers to begin with. So when a string of brutal murders in time with a travelling circus shakes up the prejudice minds of the natives, propaganda of witch craft and the devil quickly turn the idle flock into a vicious mob.

The carnies - a ragtag bunch of disformed 'creatures' and eccentric vagrants - soon find themselves wondering if their so-called family can be trusted as accusations threaten their safety. With the grusome killing spree the least of their worries, the troupe have to decide whether it is best to trust each other, or give in to the temptation of fame no matter the cost.

Foreword

Loralei Austin, 23
Swallow [Filthy Victorian Mix]
- Emilie Autumn
"It's a joke. You're all cattle. How can you deny me my request? How dare you tell me that after all I've done for you! You'd better reconsider, Bryce, I mean it. Without me, this show is a back-ally freakshow. Fix it!"

Liora Faye, 22
Song of Imaginary Beings - IAMX

"What can I say, I like people looking at me. I don't care why they're looking, or what they say while doing it, but I won't stop just because you're worried about something silly like my feelings. I'm never going to be a singer on Broadway, or an actress in Hollywood, but here, I will make something of myself. I'm going to be a star, and if that means behaving improperly to gain attention, then so be it."

Bryce Eckersley, 49
Labyrinth - Oomph!
"Baby, I've been doing this for the last three decades. I've seen everything from tightrope walkers a hundred kilometers in the air, to midgets thrown thrown through plaster boards, from fire eaters to schitzophrenic magicians. I'm telling you right now, I'm not letting you do that act. I won't have anyone die on my stage, and that is what will happen if you try what you're planning. You're good; our main act for a reason, but what you're saying is impossible."

Borin Fraiman, 50
When You’re Evil - Voltaire
“Do you think you’re invincible? You’re so young...And naive, if you think you can live forever. Yes, I know: I'm the evil-doer that should not be trusted. Still, I do happen to know a cure for your deathwish. Just how far are you willing to go?”

Hadrian Felstead, 32
Freakshow - Nomy

"Shut up! You didn't hear what was said about you; about everyone. I may not look like much, or even be worth much in terms of skill compared to the rest of you, but if you think I'm just going to stand there while people say disgusting, degrading things about you, then you're dead wrong. Even if I have to be beat to death, I won't listen to the stuff they said ever again. Even if you hate me, I couldn't do that. I won't allow that to happen again: I will show them what we're about."

Josef Cartwright, 27
Fat Bottom Girls - Queen
"I haven't been here long; I'm not angry you don't include me in your 'private talks', but I am upset. I stuck my neck out on the line not once, but three times saving the people I chose to join. If you don't trust me by now, I don't know what else there is to do to show everyone this is where I belong, and that there is no one else  better to rely on."

Asher de Grey, 40
Trust Me - Marc Senter

"It's time to make a choice, Lora. Sure, I have past misgivings, but doesn't everyone. Hell, yours are some of the worst. So, what's it going to be? Are you going to trust the man who saved you, or are you going to take one look at this situation and turn on me and run away screaming bloody murder? You should know as well a anyone that things aren't always as they seem."

James Rothman, 44
You - Archive

"What am I saying, I don't even think my partner listens to me. You may be charged with a bunch of gangly devil-spawn, but right now, I think we're stuck in a situation as equally as grim. If we play this wrong, it won't just be our careers on the line. I may not have wanted to be posted here, but I did vow to protect the innocent. As far as I can see right now, I've never come across any group so void of evil as the people you lead."

Francis Mowbray, 24
Fallen Leaves - Billy Talent
“Hey Lio, maybe you should cut back on the double-servings. Nah, I'm not being snidy. I’m just sayin’, your rear is getting bigger. Let’s all be glad you’re not the one who ‘’ to fly through the air.”

Justice Mowbray, 17
Off With Her Head - Icon For Hire

"I see everyone work so hard everyday, and all we get is abuse. What they did they do that to Hayd and my brother; You wouldn't even do that to an animal. Why do they treat us like this? Why is it always us? Why are people so in' evil? How can you stand there so composed, are you not angry? Do you even feel pain? Are you even human?"

Fendrel Chaucer, 44
Arsonist’s Lullaby - Hozier

"I'm not an idiot so stop treating me like one. What you did was wrong - lying to me to get to her hurt, but that wasn't even the worst of it. People - our family - could have been killed and you were only thinking of yourself."

Gracia Wickham, 27
Coming Undone - Korn

"Do you think our communication is as good as it could be? People are splitting off into factions and it's affecting us. I don't know what's going on, but this isn't what I signed up for."

Henrietta Cole, 31
Dark Lady - Cher

"She called me a liar; She didn't believe I can see the future. She laughed at me and dared me to take her guy, so I did. It just so happened that the accident I saw during her reading, I didn't pass along. I'm sorry, was that a bad idea?"
