He hated going outside.

If he had been able to choose, then he would have lived his whole life inside a secluded room.

But life and that was why he had to go outside.

His book in his left hand, he turned around the street´s corner, eyes only directed at the pavement and sometimes being as brave as letting them wander up to people´s knees but not any further.
