Bloodstream [Broken Memories #1]On Thursday morning, Kang Seulgi woke up not knowing where she was, stripped down to her underwear with whipped cream all over her body and a killer headache. If she were to admit the truth to herself, this was not the first time something like this had happened. She’d been to crazy parties before, but this time she was scared. She’d always made sure to drink responsibly enough that she’d remember what happened the previous night but that morning she couldn’t remember a single thing. After a few moments of laying on the bed in frustration of not being able to remember, Seulgi decided to finally get up and get to school. It wouldn’t be an option to skip out, in consideration of her grades. She stretched out her limbs, freezing as her hand touched a warm patch of flesh.
Slowly she turned her head to the side, and nearly fainted at the sight of Kai, sleeping next to her. His body was leaned towards hers and his hands were inches away from her waist, as if he’d been trying to protect her from something while she slept. She ignored the pounding rhythm of her heart and began to scoot over to the side of the bed. It was no use, the movement woke him up and in a flash he had dragged her to his side and began looking around the room.
“Sorry, I thought…” he began, but then seemed to think better of finishing his sentence. “Nevermind. Are you okay?”
Seulgi wanted to scoff but she had no energy to display any hatred or ill will. She wasn’t even curious enough to ask what he was about to say. All she cared about was missing her first class of the day.
“I’m fine. What about you? Did we have last night?” Seulgi asked, yawning as she got up.
A strangled sound escaped Kai’s lips. For someone who was a self proclaimed bad boy, he seemed to find the idea of as a scandalous activity. Seulgi let out a small giggle at his struck expression.
“You did not have any last night,” Kai said.
Seulgi laughed. “Does that mean you did with someone else?”
“I’m not discussing my life with you. Hurry up and go use Heechul’s shower so we can get to school. There’s half an hour before the first bell rings,” Kai spoke, his tone was authoritative and demanding.
It reminded her of her father. Her father never spoke with harshness but rather one of demand and coldness. Seulgi didn’t like it at all but she bore it whenever it came to her father. He was the one in charge at home and there was nothing she could do to change that. Not even her mother had the option of going against him.
Seulgi refrained from speaking to Kai and grabbed her clothes. She rushed to the showers, hoping the awkward atmosphere would decrease by the time she was done getting ready. She hadn’t meant for her mood to go bad. Kai didn’t seem like he thought her behavior was strange so maybe she was safe for now.
Once she was out, she met Kai again, who had taken a shower in some bathroom downstairs and was ready to go. She grabbed her bag from the room floor, realizing Heechul must have taken care of her and her stuff but then she glanced at Kai. She couldn’t believe she hadn’t thought to question him about why they’d been in the same bed or why he’d been at the party in the first place. As much as they disliked each other, maybe he’d been the one to take care of her instead.
“It’s setting in, right? The realization and the questions?” Kai smirked, as they left the house. Seulgi made a mental note to text Heechul later, hoping she still had his number in her phone.
“According to Heechul, you tried to drink some of the special stuff I made last night and then you disappeared. I have no idea what you did between meeting Heechul and finding Kyuhyun but you were drunk, which probably was the reason you decided to get high,” Kai informed her.
Seulgi frowned, staring at him as if to make sure he wasn’t lying to her. Her head was pounding so she was sure that he wasn’t lying about being drunk, but getting high was a bit of a stretch. She didn’t think even if she’d been in an inebriated state, she would ever agree to doing something as stupid as putting a blunt in between her lips. She took a breath, trying to remember anything about the previous night. Images flashed through her mind of Kyuhyun laughing at her. She couldn’t tell if that was enough
