I love you, Hyung.

The mortician's sons.

Hey guys, this is my first one shot ever. It's a little but I'm trying creative writing (and besides I can't update my other fic until Friday so this is like a bribe). I hope you guys like it. Sorry if it's though. Sorry for spelling and sorry for grammar. I'm stupid in that department. Thanks.

Kris was only five years old when his father came home with a baby boy in arms “This is your baby brother” he said, smiling as he placed the baby boy in Kris’s little arms. Kris held the little baby as delicately as possible because he didn’t want to hurt the little peanut not even a little “His name is Sehun. I want you to take care of him, no matter what it takes okay?” his father.

Not knowing what kind of promise he just made with his dad, young Kris nodded his head because he thought taking care of baby Sehun wouldn’t be that hard. Baby Sehun was really cute and his cheeks were really chubby and Kris would love to pinch them to pass the time so he said “I promise daddy”

“Good boy” his dad said, his hair and tucking them behind his little ear. Deep down he felt guilty because of the responsibility he just put on his son’s shoulders when he could barely spell.

Kris’s father is a well-known coffin maker in ‘An yang’, a small city at the border of Seoul. Kris couldn’t remember a day in his life where his dad is not in the workshop, working on the coffins. His father’s work is legendary because he has a personal touch and classic detailing in every coffin that he made. The business has been going on for years within several generations and his father was not one to end such legacy. While his father was cutting woods and carving them before the coffin was sent to the buyer, Kris would be in the house, telling a two year old Sehun about what he did in school.

His father would get into the house for lunch and feed him and Sehun before he’d go back into the workshop which was located in their garage before his dad renovated it and made it a workshop that’s what. Sehun’s an active baby, always laughing and smiling willingly at his brother whenever Kris tickled him but when he turned 10 years old Kris and his dad got told by the doctor that Sehun is a little different from other kids.

It’s not like his brain didn’t develop properly and Kris was certain he took care of Sehun nicely ever since his father brought Sehun over but Sehun has an IQ of a six year old but even that couldn’t erase away his love and adoration towards his little brother.

At first Mr Wu was devastated, blaming himself for not taking care of his children properly but Kris told him one night that it doesn’t matter because Sehun is healthy and will one day grown up into a handsome man.

“You’re a good son, a good brother too” Mr Wu told Kris.

Kris just smiled warmly at his dad. He was only 15 and Mr Wu wondered if he’s made Kris to grow up even before he’s supposed too. That night he drank on an empty stomach and woke up with a huge hangover but Kris made him hangover soup. He told Kris to not grow so fast but Kris told him “But I want to be like you dad”

Mr Wu could only sigh.

When Kris was 18 he got interested in building coffins so Mr Wu made sure to teach him what he knows about them. Kris is a natural. He hold the chainsaw like his hands were born for that and when he was carving the little detailing that his dad was so proud off they came out better than his own. Mr Wu couldn’t be any more proud because at this rate he knew Kris will continue the family legacy to make the best coffins.

One day in the summer a 13 year old Sehun came home crying with his little ‘Pinku-pinku’ in arm while Kris and his dad was in the workshop. When Mr Wu saw the maknae crying like that he stopped working but Kris was the one that went towards Sehun and pulled him into a tight hug “Hey buddy, what’s wrong? Did you climb the tree again?”

Sehun wiped his tears, pouting while looking up at his brother. He shook his head to Kris’s question “JongIn called me an alien” he told. JongIn was a neighbourhood that liked to tease Sehun.

“Why did JongIn call you an alien?” Kris asked. Mr Wu loves how protective Kris was towards Sehun because since he’s busy working half the time he sometimes forgot that Sehun might not be able to protect himself as much. He’s accepted Sehun’s condition though after he watched Kris bathing Sehun one day after Sehun played with the mud.

“He called me an alien because I don’t have a mother” Sehun cried into Kris’s broad chest.

Mr Wu shook his head, putting down his carving equipment before he went to get Sehun. He pulled Sehun softly away from Kris, wiping the maknae’s tears off his face before he said “Now that’s nonsense now is it?” he said. Kris took a chair that he made himself for Sehun to sit. The chair was Sehun’s favourite because it fit his height and “You have a mother, everybody has a mother” his dad convinced.

Sehun sobbed but the frown and the pout on his face were still there “I do? Where is she daddy?”

“She’s in heaven Sehun-ah. She can’t be with you right now but she’s always with you here” Mr Wu said, placing Sehun’s palm on his heart “If you think about her often, she won’t have a reason to leave your side, I promise” he went on.

Kris admitted that he was a little jealous of Sehun for getting that much of explanation about his mother because Kris got none because the last time he asked, his dad cried himself to sleep when he thought Kris was asleep. Kris didn’t want his dad to cry anymore “Will I ever see her?” Sehun innocently asked.

“Of course you will if you’ll be a good boy” Mr Wu said.

Since that day Sehun no longer wander around the neighbourhood. Instead he stayed in the workshop with his Pinku-pinku, watching Kris and his dad doing what they love the most. When Sehun was 15, he picked the craving equipment after placing Pinku-pinku on the chair that was getting a little too big for him by then. Kris taught him how to carve and three days later Sehun gave Kris a carving of a horse.

However Sehun denied it, claiming that it was obviously not a horse but a unicorn. Kris was happy to receive Sehun’s first accomplishment but a week later Mr Wu suffered from a while Kris and Sehun went out to town to watch the firework.

When they got home the neighbours told them that they were sorry. That night Sehun asked why everybody was wearing black but most importantly he asked “Where’s dad?”

Kris tucked Sehun under the blanket and tried not to cry as he still needed to take care of the funeral in the morning. He didn’t want Sehun to ask him why he was crying either in the end he said “Dad went to see mum. From today onwards, dad is always in your heart, don’t forget about him, alright?”

Sehun didn’t get it and Kris was glad for once.

Four years has passed but Kris was still in the workshop, making coffins. That’s how his father fed him and his brother from they were little until the day he died so Kris was not planning to change that. Luck was on his side, he made enough for both him and Sehun. Every year he’d get Sehun new clothes for Chuseok and a big present for Christmas. Sehun would carve something nice for him and give it to him after he unwraps his present. Sometimes Sehun would put his little carving in a little box he asked Kris to make for him a week before Christmas.

Sehun thought Kris wouldn’t notice after decorating the box with nice little painting of Christmas tree and snow falling.

“I love you Hyung” Sehun said after he opened his present. Kris got Sehun a necklace with wing pendant. He had to fight with an ahjumma for the necklace but it was worth it when he saw how happy Sehun was when he put the necklace around his neck “This necklace will be next to mum and dad” he said, pointing towards his chest.

Kris didn’t get it “How so?”

“This is where mum is” Sehun pointed on a part of his chest where his heart was “This is dad and since you need a bigger place because you’re so tall I put you around my neck instead” he explained.

Kris wanted to cry but in the end Sehun gave him a nicely carved turtle with his name underneath. They watched Sehun’s favourite cartoons and movie for the whole day and eat Christmas cookies until they couldn’t take it anymore. That day, Kris didn’t make any coffin.

One day in February where the streets were filled with disgusting pink decorations because Valentine’s Day was near Kris was in his workshop, humming to some song that he heard on an advertisement on TV last night. He was painting a coffin for a Chinese family that was going to pick up the coffin in the evening. He was almost done with the last flower when Sehun’s voice came from the entrance of the house. They live in a traditional Korean house so the entrance was secured by a wooden door. After Sehun made it past the wooden door, his voice got louder and Kris heard a loud slam. Sehun was calling for Kris.

“HYUNG, HYUNG” Sehun came again, taking Kris’s focus completely away from the flower he was painting. He put the brush down before he took his gloves off.

The giant then went out to see what was the commotion all about but when he saw Sehun carrying an unconscious man on his back, he wondered if Sehun has killed someone unintentionally. He got panic so he ran quickly towards his brother “Sehun, what happened?” he asked, helping to get the unconscious man from Sehun’s back.

“This man was lying in the middle of the road when I was on the way back from the store to get some vegetables like you asked me too but dad told me once that it’s not good to lie on the road because you will hurt your back. I told this man to wake up but he’s not listening to me Hyung” Sehun explained. The man was completely out of it judging from how jelly his legs were that Kris had to carry him bridal style into his room “His forehead is heating up Hyung. I think we could fry eggs on it” Sehun pointed out after Kris put the man on his bed, taking off his jacket only to notice that the man was wearing hospital’s pyjamas.

Kris frowned a moment but touched the man’s forehead and turned out Sehun was right. The man was having a high fever so he turned to Sehun and spoke “Sehun-ah, first of all the next time you see a man or a woman lying down on the street, don’t ever talk to them alright? Didn’t you promise me to do that before you went out just now?” Sehun bit his bottom lip and his eyes looked at Kris as if he was going to cry “Secondly, I want you to watch this man while I get some cold water for him alright? Can you do that for me?”

Sehun nodded “I will only watch him, I won’t touch him, I swear” Sehun promised.

“Good boy” Kris said, ruffling with his brother’s hair before he left the room. He came back and Sehun was still standing against the wall, watching the man like a statue. Kris wanted to laugh at how cute Sehun was being but he decided that the man’s life was even more important. He measured his body temperature and kept putting cold towel on his forehead. After two hours, the man’s temperature dropped and Kris wiped the sweat that was forming on his forehead.

When he turned around Sehun was napping on the floor next to the closet. He then took out a blanket and put it over Sehun. Looking at both sleeping figures Kris slowly made his way out, not making any sound in case it might wake them up. He got another two hours to finish the coffin and if the paint didn’t dry up properly he’d be devastated. True it’s just a coffin but it’s important to him if he deliver his job as perfect as he could. Turning on the light in the workshop, he began to work again.

After the Chinese family picked up the coffin and praised Kris (although they looked like they just cried for the past 15 hours) for his amazing work, they paid him for the coffin and left. Kris checked the time and noticed that it was quarter past six. It was time to prepare dinner. He was cleaning the workshop when he heard Sehun’s muffling voice came from the inside of the house. Worried because the unconscious man might be a filthy hobo named Billy that might hurt his little brother, Kris immediately went back into the house.

It didn’t help when Kris heard something broke in his room followed by “What are you doing? Put that down. You will hurt yourself”

Kris pushed the door open immediately only to find the unconscious man pretty much awake but was then trying to hurt himself with a piece of glass that just broken from the floor. He probably cut the skin on his finger because there was some blood there. When Sehun saw Kris he immediately freaked out, pulling Kris into the room “Hyung, Hyung he’s going to hurt himself. Please stop him, please stop him”

“I will you go outside first, I’ll stop him but you stay outside okay?” Kris said. Sehun was crying but in between sobs he agreed and Kris shut the door. He then said “Are you really going to kill yourself at someone’s house?” he asked.

“Does it matter? I’m going to die anyway” The person on the floor that was holding the piece of glass said. Kris then realized that man couldn’t be much older than he was. He was probably just a boy. He wiped his tears before he said “What do you know? You’re pretty ing alive and everything. Good for you”

Kris sighed, rolling his eyes because he really disliked how the vase he got from his neighbour for Chuseok three years ago was all over the floor. He bent down to pick up the pieces as careful as possible “Look, I was not the one that picked you up from the street and got all worried because he could fry an egg on your forehead. That boy outside, he’s really special and if you hurt yourself you might hurt him too”

The crying boy in front of Kris looked at Kris as if Kris just spoke to him in Spanish “Why didn’t he just leave me there to die?”

“I don’t know dude, like I said he’s special. I’d suggest you to put that glass in here” He pointed towards the dustbin where the rest of the glasses has gone too “and put some band aid on your finger. At least thank him and then you can leave and do whatever you want to do” Kris mumbled, not even looking at the boy.

In the end the boy thanked Sehun but didn’t leave the house. He stayed for the night in Kris’s room while Kris had to settle on Sehun’s bedroom floor. As watching Sehun drooling while smiling in his sleep has never been so entertaining but Kris couldn’t help but to think about the boy in the other room.

Zhang YiXing was his name, Kris learned.

Sehun is an easy kid that’s friendly towards everyone but it always takes time for him to warm up to new people but not with YiXing. After a week of staying with them Kris no longer take steps into the kitchen because YiXing will be in there teaching Sehun how to make dinner and in the end he’d make a proper dinner for them all but of course Sehun made sure to have some credit.

On the second week YiXing reads to Sehun before the younger boy falls asleep and Sehun couldn’t help but to point out about how YiXing has a hole on his face whenever he smiles. Kris however told Sehun that it’s rude to say that kind of thing but YiXing told him it is okay.

“It is not a hole, it’s a dimple, Sehun-ah” YiXing told.

“Can I touch it?” Sehun asked. Kris looked at YiXing, prepared for the boy to be yelling murder or some sort but instead YiXing shrugged and smiled, asking Sehun to touch it. Sehun giggled and put his spoon down because he didn’t know how to use the chopsticks “It’s so soft” Sehun said.

YiXing smiled and Kris thought his life has just begun.

One night Kris was in the workshop after dinner because he couldn’t sleep. Since YiXing was already tucking Sehun into bed he decided to work on the coffin that he was working on in the evening. He had his goggles on and everything so he began his work. When he was carrying the coffin’s door to the painting area, he saw YiXing leaning against the entrance way of the workshop, looking at the other coffin doors that were made by his dad. He refused to use them because it’s the only thing that he had to keep his father alive.

Kris took off his goggled and placed it on the work station before he said “Careful you might step on something. Sehun dropped some nails at that area last week” he said, looking away to see if there was any mishap on the piece of wood in front of him.

YiXing didn’t say anything other than a small ‘thanks’ but when he found Sehun’s little chair he let out a chuckle “Wait, did you make this? This has got to be the cutest chair I’ve ever seen. I mean I don’t think I can ever find something like this in IKEA”

“It’s the first chair I made for Sehun when he was little and I don’t know what IKEA is so I hope that’s a compliment” Kris hummed as he began to doodle with his pencil on the flat surface of the wood.

YiXing pulled his face together, lips trembling because he was speechless “You… you don’t know what IKEA is…?” he asked disbelief “And yet here you are building furniture”

Oh, Kris forgot that he didn’t actually tell YiXing that he builds coffin for a living. YiXing asked what Kris was doing in the workshop all day everyday but before he could answer Sehun already told YiXing something along the line off “Hyung builds things. He also made me my bed, have you seen it?” and that’s how YiXing paid Sehun’s room a visit for the first time and read him a bed time story.

“I never said that I build furniture” Kris said, eyebrow jotting up and he didn’t know why he was being a cocky bastard.

“But Sehun said –”

“Sehun was being nice” Kris chuckled. He then looked at YiXing who looked as confused as ever “This might sound creepy but I build coffins”

YiXing went to bed afterwards, too shocked after the news but Kris couldn’t blame him. That’s how everybody reacts anyway and that’s why he doesn’t really have any friend. He’s lucky his neighbours are nice besides other than Mrs Kim that always sends them seafood kimchi; Kris didn’t think he’s had any other friend.

It all went very well though and Kris was surprised when he found YiXing with breakfast the next day. That’s how Kris made his first friends and that’s how Sehun learned how to make his first egg rolls.

“I’m going to make you a lot of these so you won’t get hungry when you’re in the workshop Hyung” Sehun said during breakfast on a Wednesday.

Kris mouthed a ‘thank you’ to YiXing for putting up with Sehun. YiXing shook his head “That’s the least I could do after living here, eating all of your food” he said that night after Sehun had went to bed.

They drank together for the first time that night and Kris found out that YiXing was not lost nor was he a beggar from the North. He’s a college student in Seoul. He was in his last year of finishing his diploma in performing arts when he found out that he could no longer dance. Apparently YiXing collapsed on the last performance he did and the doctor told him that his heart couldn’t take it anymore. He has this thing called cardiomyopathy where his heart would suddenly stop at any given moment of time when he didn’t get enough oxygen.

Disappointing at how useless he was feeling after lying down in the hospital bed, YiXing ran away from the hospital by hopping on a random bus. He didn’t plan where he was going but as he was walking he was so thirsty and then he just fainted. Kris told him that he was lucky it was Sehun that found him.

YiXing couldn’t agree more.

They went to a well-known furniture house in Seoul, the three of them and the happiest person was of course Sehun. He sat on every bed in the bedding floor and touched every table on the furniture department. Kris had to bend down and tie Sehun’s shoe lace for him as he was sitting down on a very soft couch “It feels like I’m sitting on the clouds” he said.

“And how would you know that?” YiXing asked. The three of them looked like a family shopping for their maknae’s first bed.

“Because these seats are really soft Hyung” Sehun said. Kris tucked the strand of Sehun’s hair behind the boy’s ear while YiXing was busy explaining more things to Sehun as if Sehun would actually need to know all of that in his life.

As Sehun dragged YiXing around the store, touching every little pillow and the big ones even Kris was left behind but he didn’t mind because finally someone else other than himself was comfortable with his brother as much as he is. He watched how big the grin on Sehun’s face was when they went to eat corn dogs at the street vendor. YiXing watched how Sehun blew the corn dog in his hand before handing it to Kris saying that he’s cooled it down for his Hyung.

Kris was about to bite onto the corn dog that was in his hand when he heard Sehun. He then bit a little part of the food before he said “Hm, this is delicious. Thanks for cooling it down for Hyung”

“I love you Hyung” Sehun said before biting on the bitten corn dog happily.

“Aigo I love you too Sehunnie” Kris replied back, touching the crown of Sehun’s head.

“What about me?” YiXing asked looking all betrayed. Sehun frowned and chewed on his food a little too quickly but tell YiXing that he love his too but YiXing broke into a smile and poked Sehun’s nose “I was just kidding. I love you too”

Sehun counted on the day that he was the happiest and decided that, that day was the happiest for him.

It was 3 a.m. when Kris heard a thud in the living area. He was in a blanket on Sehun’s floor, trying to fall asleep while Sehun was fast asleep. Upon hearing the sound he got worried so he got up and went to see what was going on. He then found YiXing on the floor unconscious. His lips were paler than they were during dinner when Kris questioned him if he was okay. YiXing told him he was but as Kris was running towards the old truck that he drives only when he’s getting wood supply from his supplier to get YiXing to the hospital, he knew something was wrong.

He watched how the doctor had to do all of the painful stuffs to make YiXing to breathe again. YiXing painfully gasped for air when the doctor pumped in some oxygen into his body. Kris had to look away.

The next day Sehun came to visit YiXing in the hospital with a bouquet of flower. YiXing told Sehun that he loves him. Sehun didn’t cry, neither did Kris.

Sehun was turning 20, how could Kris forget. After promising a decent amount of candy Sehun agreed to watch TV with Mrs Kim at her house because YiXing urged for both of them to go to Seoul to get Sehun his birthday present.

Kris convinced YiXing that Sehun won’t mind if the gift was small or cheap even, that boy is never picky and sometime he had to ask why Kris was giving him presents on his birthday. YiXing insisted on buying YiXing something memorable and nice looking and to get those things they needed to travel. Kris honestly had no problem with travelling but he however had a lot of problem travelling with YiXing considering he kept thinking about the other boy.

When they’re eating Kris would be busy watching the way YiXing chewing his food and when Sehun was telling him what he saw on the way home after he got vegetables Kris was staring at YiXing who couldn’t take his eyes off Sehun even for a minute. Sometime Kris found himself being a little jealous of Sehun. He got YiXing’s undivided attention and since YiXing got home from the hospital Sehun insisted that YiXing sleeps with him in his bed room instead.

Kris managed to grow up and agreed to the request only to sulk every night before he sleeps whenever he hears the sound of Sehun giggling with YiXing. He didn’t realized how those feelings were taking over him until last week when YiXing asked him to pass him the towel while the boy was in the bathroom. At first it was just a simple task but when Kris saw how plump YiXing’s lips were after his shower he wondered how they tasted like.

That’s how Kris knew he was losing his mind, thinking about another man like that. He didn’t want to leave Sehun and go to Seoul with YiXing but in the end he did and while they were in the moving train Kris noticed the way YiXing strangely looked at him.

“Is there something on my face?” He asked bluntly, touching his face.

YiXing shook his head, smiling shyly “Nah, I was just impressed”

“With my face…?” Okay, that was not supposed to come out and Kris couldn’t wait for the train to arrive at the station so that he can go to the men’s room and slap himself.

YiXing burst out laughing, expectedly but he said “No you dummy. I’m impressed because you’re so young but so responsible and the fact that you take care of your brother as well as you do… makes me think, how did you do it? Don’t you feel like… going out or having fun? Aren’t you supposed to be meeting girls and thinking about your future?”

Kris fell silent for a moment, thinking about Sehun and what they have went through together. He remembered how at one point not many people die and the coffin business fell into a slump. He could only cook one portion of rice and lied to Sehun that he was not hungry but secretly ate bread in his room. It was tough but he loves Sehun and he promised his dad that he’ll take care of Sehun no matter what “I just do it” he said.

“Yah but there must be some kind of… loophole. I’m sure when you watch your friends going out with each other you get jealous” YiXing said. He was staring at Kris too deeply and Kris wondered if everyone else got the same effect whenever YiXing stares at them.

“I don’t have friends” Kris simply stated, pulling his jacket to make himself comfortable “Sehun is my life. Sehun is the reason why I do what I do. He’s the reason why I want to get better at cooking. He’s the reason I want to make a better coffin because no matter what I do, he’ll be there, telling me that I did well” Kris said, looking out of the window. He hoped Mrs Kim won’t make Sehun to watch Korean drama because then Sehun will repeat the dialogue of the drama that he sees for the whole week.

Kris honestly didn’t mind but when Sehun starts dreaming about it he knew everything need to stop.

YiXing pressed his lips together, smiling widely at Kris “He makes you feel like you’re good enough for everything, right?” he asked, looking out of the window too “I’m quitting college” he suddenly said.

Kris frowned “What…? Why…?”

“I’m dying Kris” YiXing said quietly “I’m a ticking bomb and instead of exploding I might get diffused and then I’m done. I can no longer dance and since that’s the only motivation I have to go on I just, I can’t anymore” he went on.

“You are not going to die. The doctor said that you just need a heart transplant and then everything will be okay. Why are you giving up?” Kris asked. He didn’t get it. YiXing should not just give up. His life is much better than Kris’s and the only thing he had to do was to wait for the right time. Kris has never had the opportunity to wait because Sehun’s always ahead of him.

Instead of waiting he needed to catch up so if YiXing quit because his life was a little hard, Kris might have to scream at him “It’s not that. Even if I get transplant I might need a year before I can do anything again. I am not done with dancing I’m just accepting the reality of it”

Kris sighed “So what are you going to do?”

“Probably apply a job which reminds me, do you need help in your workshop?” YiXing jokingly asked. He was grinning smugly and Kris chuckled “Oh I’d like you to make me a coffin for when I’m dead. Put like unicorns or something there” he laughed.

“No, I’m not going to make you a coffin, what the hell? And no, there’s not but there’s another position available” Kris teasingly said.

“Which is?”

“Would you like to be my boyfriend?” Kris asked out of nowhere. There was a laugh coming out of YiXing’s mouth but he nodded his head, saying yes. They walked around Seoul with their fingers intertwined with each other. Kris thought it was the best night of his life.

Sehun got a new jacket from YiXing for his birthday but Kris got him a pair of shoes. Mrs Kim made some beef stew for him and told him to grow well. It was a very happy day for Sehun but in the morning when he found out that YiXing is going back to Seoul to settle some stuffs, he began to sulk and stayed under his blanket for the whole day.

YiXing felt guilty for dropping such news but Kris assured him that Sehun is always like that. He sulks like that too when Mrs Kim went out of town for three days to visit her grandson in Jeju. YiXing made Sehun’s favourite dish for dinner hoping that it would lure the young boy out but it was not working. For a 20 year old boy with the IQ of a six year old Sehun was pretty smart. YiXing left the food in his room and left.

He shook his head when he saw Kris “He’s still not eating” he said.

Kris took a deep breath before he told YiXing that it’s okay, he’ll take care of it. Kris knocked the door three times but since Sehun was not making any sound for him to come in, he went in on his own. He saw Sehun’s wiggling at the edge of the blanket and shook his head. Kris reached for Sehun’s favourite doll, Pinku-pinku and sat by the bed on the floor.

He poked Sehun’s using Pinku-pinku’s hand before he spoke in a squeaky voice “Sehun-ssi if you don’t eat your dinner you will have air in your stomach”

Hearing Kris’s voice that way Sehun lifted his cover but his eyes stayed on Pinku-pinku. Kris wiggled the doll’s hands and spoke in the same voice again “Hello, my name is Pinku-pinku, how are you?”

Sehun poked Pinku-pinku’s nose and pouted. He was not talking to Kris but he was talking to Pinku-pinku “Not good” he whined softly.

“Oh, why…? What’s wrong? Did you lose your favourite socks again?” Pinku-pinku asked.

Sehun shook his head again “No, I’m wearing them now” he told, wiggling his feet while he was at it “YiXing Hyung is going to Seoul and I don’t like that” he went on.

“Why don’t you like it Sehunnie?” Kris asked this time without Pinku-pinku’s help. He Sehun’s hair away from the boy’s face and noticed that Sehun might need a haircut soon.

“Because you won’t smile anymore once he’s left” Sehun quietly said. He took Pinku-pinku away from Kris’s hand and snuggled the little doll.

Kris wanted to tell Sehun how stupid he was being for thinking that Kris only smile because of YiXing but then he remembered the last time he put ‘stupid’ and ‘Sehun’ in the same sentence Sehun cried for hours thinking that Kris hates him so instead he said “Yah, you know I always smile even before he got here with us”

Sehun shook his head “Not like this” he said “You never leave the workshop and the only time you see me longer than a minute is when you’re tucking me into bed” he added.

“Aw Sehunnie, come here” Kris sighed, getting into bed with Sehun. He pulled his brother closer and hugged him tight. To some people that action might be considered improper but Kris knew from day one that Sehun is special and that things like hugging in bed is one of the things that made Sehun feels secure “I’m sorry if I make you feel that way but I love you, YiXing Hyung loves you too but he needs to take care of something. Once he’s done he’ll come back and I promise. I also promise that I will play ball with you every day until he comes back, how about that?”

“Promise…?” Sehun whispered.

“I promise”

Sehun ate his food because Kris fed him YiXing watched the two brothers and felt so touched.

A week later YiXing left for Seoul and on the same day Sehun got a fever. Kris couldn’t get into the workshop to avoid making any sound since Sehun was sick. The maknae got better after he talked on the phone with YiXing before he fell asleep that night. After Sehun fell asleep, Kris went out of the room and settled in the workshop because he loves the smell in there. It gives him chill.

It’s also the place where he kissed YiXing for the first time. He missed YiXing so much.

According to YiXing he’ll be done with cancelling his enrolment in a week time but Kris told him that seven days suddenly felt like seven years. YiXing only chuckled and told him that he missed Kris too. They talked on the phone for the first three days before YiXing stopped calling on the fourth nights. Kris lied to Sehun that YiXing was too tired that he went to bed first. Disappointed, Sehun somehow fell asleep but Kris couldn’t.

He tried calling but all of his calls went into YiXing’s voice mail. He then began to wonder if YiXing has decided to ditch him and his brother. Kris didn’t get any sleep that night.

On Friday Sehun stopped asking about YiXing but Kris never stopped trying to contact YiXing.

Someone passed away and requested for a coffin but couldn’t take the coffin by themselves so Kris had to carry the coffin onto his truck with Sehun’s help so that he could drive the coffin to the family. At first Kris wanted Sehun to stay at Mrs Kim’s house because he didn’t like the idea of bringing Sehun to see a funeral however Mrs Kim went to some aerobics class so in the end Kris had to bring Sehun along.

“When Hyung is delivering the coffin promise me you will stay in the truck and not get out” Kris said as he was buckling Sehun’s seat belt.

Sehun nodded, eating the ice cream that Kris got for him as a bribe for good behaviour “I love you Hyung” he said and they intertwined their pinkie but for some reason Kris didn’t feel good.

Ignoring the feeling Kris started the engine of the truck and drove. He arrived at the family’s house and few men helped to carry the coffin. Sehun just stayed in the truck. He didn’t even look at the people that were helping Kris. Kris then came by the window and knocked.

Sehun rolled down the window and smiled “Hyung”

“I have to go in to get the payment. Remember what we promised earlier?” Kris asked.

Sehun nodded his head and showed his thumb “Yes”

“Alright I will be back okay? Roll the window back up and count until 100. I will be back by then” Kris promised and that’s how Sehun began to count excitedly in the truck. He’d use his slender fingers to keep counting but then he saw a cat outside of the truck in the middle of the road.

Sehun stopped counting and yelled “Don’t sleep in the middle of the road kitty” he said.

The cat was not listening to him though so Sehun broke his promise and went out of the truck. He jogged towards the cat, humming happily forgetting to count to 100 completely. He caught the cat and let it go away from the road but Sehun didn’t notice a moving car coming from the opposite direction.

Kris was walking out of the house entrance when he heard a loud sound and when he looked forward he noticed the truck was empty and there were people gathering on the road. It looked like there was an accident judging from the blood but Kris needed to find Sehun. He looked around, calling for him but Sehun was nowhere in sight.

His eyes went back to look at the accident on the road and as the people shuffle to help the injured person off the road Kris saw a glimpse of wing pendant hanging around the unconscious person’s neck “Sehun… SEHUN” He gasped and quickly made his way towards his brother. When he reached there someone has called the ambulance however Sehun was bleeding a little too much “SEHUN, SEHUNNIE, HYUNG IS HERE, IM SORRY I LEFT… SEHUN, STAY WITH ME” Kris said.

There was so much blood and Kris was scared to touch Sehun in case he might hurt his brother even more. He rested Sehun’s head on his lap and kept kissing Sehun’s forehead “Hyung, it hurt” Sehun mumbled with his eyes closed.

“I know, I know, just hang in there okay? It’ll be okay soon, I promise” Kris sobbed. The sound of ambulance coming their way was then heard and people that gathered began to shuffle away.

“You promise…?” Sehun whispered.

Sehun couldn’t make it and Kris felt like he was dead too.

The doctor told him to be strong but Kris has been strong for the rest of his life so he didn’t think he could get even stronger. Kris left the hospital but not without signing up for organ donation program for Sehun. Kris told the doctor about YiXing and turned out after few tests and from the result that was based on YiXing’s last visit at the hospital, Sehun and YiXing shares the same blood type.

That night Kris had to attend another funeral. The photo of Sehun smiling was staring at him from across the room. He looked at the coffin that Sehun was lying in and looked away. The unicorn horn carving in the middle of the coffin’s door was specially made by Sehun for YiXing but Sehun was the one lying in the coffin. After the funeral Kris stayed in the workshop most of the time, staring at Sehun’s first chair and looking at all of the carvings that Sehun has made for him. He was so numb to the point where he couldn’t hear the sound of his phone vibrating.

The caller I.D read ‘YiXing’

When YiXing went back to Seoul, back to his dorm in the campus, his friend Luhan was the first person that he met. Luhan was furious because he disappeared all of the sudden from the hospital and that YiXing’s parents are worried sick. When YiXing told Luhan that he’s quitting college Luhan got even more furious but in the end he understood. Luhan helped YiXing to pack and when Luhan went to get dinner, YiXing grabbed his phone to call Kris because good lord he missed his boyfriend so much.

Luhan came back later to YiXing on the floor, gasping for air. Luhan drove YiXing to the hospital immediately and when YiXing was conscious the first thing he asked for was his phone but Luhan told him that he was sick and he needed to rest. The next day YiXing asked for his phone again but before he could even connect the call to Kris he got another attack and he was placed in the I.C.U. He went unconscious for weeks and when he woke up Luhan told him that he’s okay now.

“You can dance again in six months” Luhan exclaimed because somehow while YiXing was asleep someone donated the healthy tissue that needed to be replaced in his heart and he’s apparently as healthy as a cow.

The first night he got home, he called Kris but the older boy didn’t pick the call up. He tried several times and there were all kinds of thinking going on in his mind. Luhan however told him that calm down and that maybe Kris was busy.

By the end of the week YiXing decided to skip classes and hopped on a train all the way to ‘An Yang’. He couldn’t stay still for the whole one hour of the journey and when the train stopped at the platform he was running on his feet. If An Yang was fresh and peaceful before it’s clearly was not anymore. The neighbourhood where Kris was living in was unexceptionally quiet and YiXing wondered if something has happened.

He passed the park where he and Sehun played soccer before and he also passed the spicy rice cake that he remembered Kris taking all of them too. When he saw Kris’s house he smiled because he was excited to see his two favourite people in the world. He pushed the door to get in but the door was locked. He knocked on the door several times but instead of Kris or Sehun, Mrs Kim was the one that ducked her head out from her yard.

When she saw Sehun she called him “Oi, I thought you’d never come. That family no longer lives here. The house stays but Kris is gone”

“Gone…? Where did he go? What about Sehun?” There were other questions but YiXing needed to calm down or he will explode. Why did Kris move away without telling him?

Mrs Kim shook her head and her expression turned sullen “You didn’t know huh? He did tell me that he couldn’t contact you after you left. Anyway, before Kris left he asked me to give this to you, in case you come back”

It was a letter, YiXing justified. His hand felt heavy all of the sudden but he managed to take the letter from Mrs Kim’s hand “Thank you”

“No, thank you” Mrs Kim said, patting YiXing’s shoulder “Before you came I could only see Sehun being alive but for a moment Kris was breathing too, it’s all thanks to you” she said before she got back into her house.

YiXing didn’t understand anything just yet. He then made his way back to the train station and bought a ticket back to Seoul. He opened the envelope and read the page in in his hand.

Dear YiXing…

I don’t mean to leave abruptly like this but I just lost myself and I’m willing to find it back but I need some time. You might not know this but Sehun was involved in an accident days after you left and he didn’t make it. I wanted to call you but then I realized I might put all of my emotion on you and you’ll feel burden by it.

I like you a lot and meeting you is probably the most beautiful part in my whole life. I signed the donation form and ran a test over Sehun’s blood and yours. Turned out you guys are perfect for each other, I should’ve known. I personally asked the doctor to do what it takes to save you as I heard you were pretty sick from your friend, Luhan.

I hope we will meet again one day in the future, someway, somehow.

Kris.

YiXing felt tears streaming down his face. He felt something hard in the envelope so he took it out. It turned out to be Sehun’s wing necklace. He recalled hearing Sehun telling YiXing that Kris got the necklace for him on Christmas before he met YiXing.

“It’s like this necklace is magical Hyung” Sehun said few months ago.

Taking the necklace with his hand, YiXing put it on around his necklace right away. He wiped his tears and looked out of the window while touching the pendant.

It’s a magical necklace right?

Chapter 2: First, I would like to apologize for not leaving comments before in your fanfics / stories but English
is not my first language.

My otp is Kray, and when I was looking for fics about them, I found your stories on AFF,
¡your writing style is amazing !, always waiting with excitement for the next update =') some made me laugh,
others made me cry (like this one, 'The Mortician's Sons') I think you're my favorite Kray author.

I understand that may be difficult for you to write something happy right now, I like that you shared with us,
your readers, some of your thoughts. I'll not tell you 'don't stop writing' about Yixing or Kris,
it's your decision and should be respected ^^

Ugh T--T Yixing is my bias but after May 15, could not see anything new about Exo ...
I feel bad about this but I met them as twelve and I think I'm not used to the idea of seeing exo as 11 people.
I guess it's a matter of time~ i really hope so.

Anyway, just wanted to say 'thank you' for sharing your fics with all of us. I hope you feel better soon =]

ps: sorry for my bad English> - <
