Description

Two career people wanting to escape the reality of their fast-paced lives. One desperately needs a break from all the stress and frustrations, while the other just casually needs to take a break, unconsciously running away from his very busy but rewarding career.

Sandara Park is an executive secretary of the CEO of Samsung electronics in Korea.. And she's fed up with her stressful and under-appreciated existence. She's just 31 years old, but she feels like she has already lived half a century with everything she's been through. And she's already 31 years old, but never had an experience with the thing they call LOVE. Sure, being an executive secretary to the head of one of the biggest chaebols in South Korea has its perks: fat wallet from her very impressive paychecks, gadgets here and there, but all in the expense of one simple thing: LIVING A LIFE. Having realized how pathetic her life is, one afternoon, she stormed out of her office, and headed to board at the first flight she can get out of Korea.

She needs a breather.

Kwon Jiyong is known as a prodigy within the advertising field, and he knows that he is the most sought after advertiser in the field. His genius brain contains the most creative ideas that every company would want to build up their product's image. He works as a freelancer with a team of 5, which includes only his closest friends, never giving into the various offers waved off at his face by numerous advertising companies wanting him to be a part of their team. He turned them all down, and he intended to work only with his friends as a freelancing team. Besides, he was alone when he was just a struggling advertising graduate, and he built up his image all through his own efforts, why would he let other companies reap what he sow? He also doesn't want to make a company of his own because he's just too lazy to deal with the complexities of the process. Yep, that's Jiyong alright, a cocky arrogant guy who is afraid of complexities that life might throw at him. But will he also run away from the complexity of something called LOVE after he gets to experience it?

He packed his bags for some alone time to be with himself, and to finally experience trying to revel on the fruits of his labors. He flew out of Korea for a much needed vacation as his reward for himself.

But what happens when fate decides to put these two different people together during this escape that both of them originally planned to do alone?

Foreword

Prologue

Ugh.

I slumped on my reclining chair and stared at my desk - or what used to be my desk - in front of me. Stacks and stacks of papers piled up on one corner, just a few minutes after I cleared it up earlier. I was about to head out home bound, my head filled with images of my bed and how it would feel so soft and comfy beneath my back when I finally lay down on it after almost a week of tolerating the couch that sits just across my desk. But just as I was about to bail out of my office and scream "FREEDOM!!", my of a boss had to barge inside and dumped those despicable paper works on my desk.

15 minutes earlier…

"Oh Ms. Park, are you supposed to be leaving for home? I'm so sorry but before you go, can you please review these document proposals and have them ready by tomorrow morning? I have to present them to the emergency board meeting----"

I spaced out at the rest of his blurbs, and it takes everything in me not to groan and throw a tantrum in front of my boss.

And he's not just some boss whom you can scoot out from when you just want to leave.

He's the freaking CEO of Samsung!

And being his executive secretary meant I do 80% of his job. Me, who's a mere commoner, doing jobs for one of the most powerful people in Korea.

"Uhm, no it's okay, Sir.  Of course I can finish them by tomorrow," I tried to not sound as if my voice is coming out from my nose, and smiled what I think is a sincere smile. I hope it didn't turn out creepy, but I guess it didn't because my boss returned his smile at me.

"I knew I could always count on you, Ms. Park. I knew I made the best decision to hire you 5 years ago," and then he was out. Just like that.

15 minutes after…

I stared on my computer and see the influx of emails arriving on my inbox. I should've shut the damn thing down before I attempted to leave my office though. I hear my desk phones both ringing at the same time, and the damn computer speakers kept sounding off the email alert notification.

I shut my eyes tightly and put my hands on my ears, and I feel like I'm gonna explode--

*rrrrring rrrriiingg*

*dudeng.. dudeng..*

"GAAAAHHHH IT!! TAMTAM-AAAHH LET'S RUN AWAY!!" I pulled out my stuffed toy, my baby, Tamtam, from my duffel bag as I exploded, running away from my suffocating office like a madwoman on the loose.

I need to get the hell away from here!! Fast!

I jumped out of the building and into the arriving taxi out front, as I yelled to the driver, "Incheon International Airport please, ahjusshi. Make it in 20 minutes." I frantically searched my duffel bag for my passport, and thank heavens I always carry it around!

I saw the driver ahjusshi eyeing me through his rearview mirror like I've gone mad, when in reality I was really this close from going insane. I closed my eyes and heaved a deep sigh of relief, and I clutched my passport and Tamtam close to my chest.

Screw everything. I really, sincerely, surely, absolutely deserve a god damn break.

"Damn, dude, you pawned and owned that presentation you just did there. What's your secret, you bastard?"

I just smirked at my best friend and right-hand man, Youngbae as I gathered up my things and piled them in a neat stack, and then placed them onto his desk.

"Well, when did I ever fail in getting my target?" I rhetorically asked him, shooting him a wink that I very well know would make him shudder for days.

"That's what made me fall for you right? Your undeniable charm, and of course your winks," he sarcastically replied, but not before rolling his eyes.

"It's a natural born gift, my friend," I straightened up as I leaned back on my desk just across his, "Would be a waste if I don't put it to use right? And yes I know you are smitten at my charms, but keep it to yourself, you know you're definitely not my type," I said as I turn my back at him and started gathering up my things and prepare to leave. I reached for my luggage under my desk and my sling bag containing more of my things.

"I'm leaving this team under your care, Bae, I know you can lead them while I'm away. I don't have my laptop with me, so you can just call me if you need anything," I waved my hand holding my phone at him,

"Yup, don't worry about it. I can handle things from here on. Enjoy your vacation. And don't worry, you don't need to expect my call, just go enjoy and maybe bring us some white sands back here," Youngbae punched my shoulder lightly as he followed me outside my home office, out to my car. "You should even have left me to deal with that presentation though," he added, feigning a hurt expression on his face.

"I will. And yes I know you can. It's just that I need one last moment of glory before I leave you guys," I tapped his shoulder before I opened my trunk to put in my luggage.

"So, see you after two weeks?" Youngbae told me before I get into the driver's seat.

"Yeah sure, don't miss me too much," I grinned at him before I yanked my door open, only to be stopped by his hand.

"And oh wait, Ji. Go get someone exotic girl pregnant would you?"

I punched him on the stomach before I got in and drove off, but not without getting my hand out of the window and flipping him off. The bastard kept on laughing his off as I watched him on the rearview mirror. I can only just shake my head at his ridiculous last comment as I drove off to the airport.

Ahh yes. The feeling of going in an adventure all alone by myself is starting to get me pumped up.

Sweet, sweet vacation. It's about ing time. I grinned at myself as I neared the parking lot of the airport, watching as a plane takes off from the runway.
