Soul Center

Description

You would expect a call center filled with cheerful employees who try to sell you their goods - phones, Tvs or even cars - to be bustling with life. Bright walls,  ever-smiling bosses who compliment people on their progress... This is how such a place comes to your mind when you think of it, no?

If you were to visit one, reality would shatter your perfectly built picture within moments.

Dimly lit rooms, muttering men and women - most barely in their twenties - being judged by sardonic supervisors who know that they are better than them despite the evident bruises on their knees. From what? Just guess.

And still, it's so obvious that they are better than those who sit behind the computers from day to night and speak; speak so cheerfully that you would think that they are joyful, careless people. They are better, because they don't have to pretend. Just looking around the dull office makes them smirk to show their pleasure: they love watching the weak squirm and beg for people to buy their - completely useless - products.

And still, those poor souls try: they struggle, whine and plead until they question their own existence. If they had another chance; just a little ray of light that could lead them out of this darkness, they would grab it...

But they are already lost.

Lost in agony, grief and loneliness.

Will they ever be found?

Foreword

What is a routine?

If one was to suddenly try and look it up in the dictionary, their results would be similar to the followings, even if they were to check them in several places, purely out of curiosity:

a sequence of actions regularly followed; a fixed program

a prescribed, detailed course of action to be followed regularly; a standard procedure

a set of customary and often mechanically performed procedures or activities

However if someone was asked what the word means to them, their answers would vary.

"Routine is something you live by. You wake, eat, work, eat, work, go home, sleep."  (Huang Zitao)

"Is this a trick question? Routine is routine, what else could it be, a game?" (Lee Taemin)

"If you fall into it, you forget everything. Routine is something that dictates your life. It allows you to forget. (Kim Kibum)

"I'm not sure... but I think it's like...yeah. Eh, you know it already, don't you? You're just making a fool out of me." (Lu Han)

"I don't think I could ever live by a routine. It's something that defines your life and doesn't allow you to live. It gives you a structure, sure. But where's the fun? Where's life? I think routine is good for the cowardly. It's easy to hide behind plans and carefully crafted schedules, but it's even easier to see through them... (Yang Yoseob)

"Routine is sacred. It shall never be broken. So next time if any of you ets is late, you can say goodbye to your job." (Choi Aya)

I think I identify with Yoseob's definition personally... but have been stuck in a life routine despite knowing the 'truth'.
