8sians (or eight Asians) is a South Korean idol girl group and band, produced by JYP Entertainment. The eight member girl group consists of eight girls born in eight different Asian countries (China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam). The group debuted on November 8, 2014, with their song debut single titled Flashback. On January 25, 2014 it was reported that 8sians got into a car accident which resulted in the deaths of Sarah, Cindy, and Rose.
History
2014: Debut ("Flashback")
The eight members were introduced individually through teaser photos from September 1st to October 26th (in order: Jessica, Sarah, Cindy, BamBi, JJ, Rose, Wu, and Koleen ). The music video for the title track "Flashback" was released on November 6th. 8sians had their debut stage on November 8th at 'Music Core'.
2015: Comeback, 'Goodnight Like Yesterday', car accident, imprisonment, retrial, JJ leaving, disbandment
On January 4th JYP Entertainment annouced 8sians would have a comback in the early months of 2015. A teaser was released on January 11th titled 'Goodnight Like Yesterday', and a total different concept from 'Flashback'. The full MV was released on January 14th as the group's second single and had their comeback stage on January 15th.
On January 25th, around 10:20 PM (KST) that 8sians got into a car accident, which resulted in Sarah to be declared DOA (dead on arrivial) when emergency authories got there. A hour after it was reported it was said a car drove across when they had red and slammed fully into 8sians van. And Cindy, Rose, and Jessica were sent to the hospital in critical condition, while the four other members and their manager only sustianed minor injuries.
On January 26th, 8sians promoting song 'Goonight Like Yesterday' ranked high to number one on music charts. Also Sarah's service took place where for the first time, JJ, Wu, BamBi, and Koleen showed their faces in public. Unfortunately a few hours on the same day Cindy passed away. JYP Entertainment also annouced that Rose and Jessica's surgery had to be stopped and moved to the ICU. Rose's blood pressure dropped sufficiently and her brain swelled. Jessica's blood pressure dropped only slightly but she had a fractured hip, pneumothorax from broken ribs, and facial scatches and brusies. The other four members with minor injuries were released from the hospital.
Then on Janaury 30th, JYP Entertainment annouced that Jessica had finished her surgery with sucess but still in ICU while Rose's condition hasn't changed. But sadly also a few hours later Rose passed away with family members at her side till the end. Jessica meanwhile was still unconsious and many idols sent messages of support to 8sians. Also on the same day police reported that the person who slammed into the van was a anti-fan who didn't make the cut to being in the group.
Then on February 1st, it was reported Jessica had awakened, one week after the accident. The last performance with all eight members together was also released the same day. A few days later it was reported that the members of 8sians flew back to their home countries to be with their families for a bit. But Jessica could not as she would need to stay in the hospital for 4-6 months, so it was said family visited her in the hospital.
On February 10th the members were seen back in South Korea and were reporting to take vocal lessons as part of their therapy. And a court date for Ms.Kim was set in May. Then finally on May 14th, JYP Entertainment announced that Ms. Kim was sent to prision for 2 years after killing Sarah, Cindy, and Rose in the car accident. Nothing was clarifed though about 8sians's future.
A retrial was held after many protests and with that the court finally closed with Ms. Kim receiving 7 years of prison.
On August 5th JYP Entertainment announced JJ's leave for personal reasons. On August 6th JYP Entertainment announced that 8sians' would disband, following the descision about the other members contracts.
