Kim Jongin and Oh Sehun both managed to stick together for eight years after being abandoned by their respective parents in the same forest on the same night at the same exact time. If it weren't for pure coincidence, they would have thought of the abandonments as curses.

But instead they found a blessing: each other.

Both have extraordinary academic minds. Oh Sehun is a genius medic who knows the anatomy of the human body inside out. Although he has preternatural skills that even expert doctors can't achieve from years of experience, he chooses to work at the local drug store down the street with Jongin from where he and Jongin reside. Kim Jongin is a chemist, able to concoct various acids and substances made from formulas he randomly materializes in his head at work. He's never touched a flask or goggle in his life, but his natural connection with math and equations help him to produce rare substances that even renown chemists have a difficult time analyzing. His photographic memory is a plus as well.

These two are struggling to make minimum wage, but they still endure the week with the other's company. But when they aren't able to pay rent for their run down store at the end of the month, they're left jobless and broke. Soon their small apartment might be taken away from them if they don't make enough money to pay off their stingy landlord.

Their prayers are heard one day when they spot a muddy flyer matted on the floor as they're walking down the sidewalk. It's a flyer advertising an academic competition which includes various subjects ranging from Korean literature all the way to biomedical engineering. A competing group known as EXO is looking for two additional members, since competing groups must have a total of 12 members. Jongin and Sehun are positive a flyer like this must have flown in the wind and landed there because no one would advertise something remotely civilized in the ghetto that they live in, where crime and dirtiness override.

The opportunity is tempting, because they need the money and they have the brains. But they have no formal education or connections to get them all the way to Seoul. And plus they'll have to pass the auditions, which will be crowded with intelligent college graduates and cocky overseas college students. 

What chance will they have, two poor uneducated kids, against kids who have trained their whole lives to compete in one of these popular academic competitions?
