Description

The blue and red lights, a soft blur. Then the resounding crash. That's all that remains in Yifan's memory. Oh wait, there is something, no, someone else too. Huang Zitao, his husband of two fresh decades. And maybe his sixteen year old daughter. Yifan remembers being hauled away to the hospital, where he spent sleepless nights, waiting, hoping that Zitao would return. But he was long gone.

Yifan refused to believe that Zitao had already died in the accident. Died there on the spot in his seat beside Yifan, not in the hospital, not anywhere else. Yifan grieved, mourned for years, crying, holding a smiling portrait of Zitao close to his heart. But Yifan never turned to alcohol, to claim his sorrow. Ever since Zitao passed away, Yifan's life became the clearcut definition of living as a hopeless wreck in absolute misery.

But on Zitao's side, he never really died. No, Zitao's ghost didn't return and put itself in a human body. Zitao just requested of the doctor to tell Yifan that he had died. Zitao did die momentarily at the accidemt site but the surgeons managed to revive him with defibrillators sending volts of electricity through him to shock his heart. He was placed on life support after that in the most secluded parts of the hospital so that the chances of Yifan finding out about him will be slimmer than a hairline fracture.

Yifan has believed that Zitao was dead all these years. Until his dead husband shows up at his door. That's when a reclusive sorrow soaked Yifan goes into a state of confusion and panic. He keeps telling himself it's a figment of his own imagination until he becomes insane, because to him it is. Only one person has and will ever believe that Zitao has returned. And that's their daughter, Min Ji.

Foreword

Hi (: these two songs inspired this story. Exo's Moonlight and Sia's Chandelier.

The more specific parts that inspired the story are

Chandelier: And I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down won't open my eyes Keep my glass full until morning light, 'cause I'm just holding on for tonight Help me, I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down won't open my eyes Keep my glass full until morning light, 'cause I'm just holding on for tonight On for tonight

Moonlight: So, baby, hold on, I can’t leave you alone from a distance I follow you

You’re showered by a shower of starlight I’ve never seen such an entrancing expression I see you still like a picture. At the end of the gaze

a place that cannot be touched a place that cannot be held the reflection on the surface is not her it’s my sad story that cannot be fulfilled the closer I get the stronger the pain will get.

Credits to Metro Lyrics for Chandelier and colorcodedlyrics for Moonlight ♥
