The First Thursday Night
Thursday Nights“What?” Bomi screeched, earning gazes from her customers. “Soo Yun, why in the world will you do that?”
Soo Yun shrugged and took a sip from her coffee, barely noticing how hot it still was. “I’d rather give him permission to do it than have it be done behind my back.”
“But Soo Yun,” Bomi sighed and leaned on Soo Yun’s table. “It’s still an affair.”
Soo Yun was silent for a while before she looked up at Bomi. “Ignorance is not my bliss.”
“Doesn’t it break your heart?” Bomi quietly asked.
Of course it did.
Soo Yun cleared and set her cup down. “Bomi,” she tried to keep her voice calm. “I hope that one day, with this opportunity that I give him, I will be so fed up with it and be able to file for divorce with no feelings attached.”
“Why not just divorce now?”
She shook her head. “Because I still love him, and that’s all that matter.”
Bomi heaved out a big sigh and straightened up. She took a glance up at the clock and smiled. “I’m closing my shop in 30 minutes, want to go clubbing today? Maybe it’ll take away all the stress. If he can have fun, so can you. An open marriage is for both, not just one, you know.”
