Firefly Lovers

Description

“Firefly Lovers”

Love is like a friendship caught on fire

Pairing: Luhan & Park Chorong (ChoHan)

Genre: angst/magic/romance

Society is ruled by women. Children are separated from their parents by birth. Siblings are torn apart if they are of different genders. And no one is allowed to fall in love.

The queen rules over the land with her two sisters as her council women. Her superstitious powers maintain the throne. There are talks about the queen, Yuri. It’s said that she fell in love with a blacksmith a long time ago. After realizing that he did not love her, she killed him along with the King and thousands of his soldiers. For over 20 years, she’s cursed over the land to never allow men to prosper again. Men do all the hard work while women rule the government. Women hold more value, prestige and are more important than men. Men are not allowed to receive any education, but are forced to be slaves—property. Those who try to rebel: the Queen kills. The soldiers are all women who are trained in martial arts and specialize in combat fighting.

The queen has cast a spell on all men, separating them as if they were their own species. Every night, after the sun sets, men become free slaves. But here’s the catch: they become physically weak, leaving them vulnerable easy meat. If they are caught in the night, master-less, they can be repossessed by a new master. And the cycle starts again. It’s a torturous sight that Yuri enjoys the most—seeing the world upside down; giving men a taste of what she went through.

Luhan sees the inequality in his society, especially because he has a strong desire to learn. He decides to cross-dress as a woman into Shidae School of Arts so that he can get a proper education and turn society back to where it belonged. He succeeds by passing the entrance exam and gets into the women-only school. He meets Chorong there and they become roommates. However, Chorong slowly develops stronger feelings for her cross dressing roommate after their heart to heart conversations. Rooming with a man is already breaking one rule. Can she also get away with falling in love with one?

AN: This fic was inspired by the Chinese tale of “Butterfly Lovers”. It’s kind of known as the Chinese version of “Romeo and Juliet”.  I also got the dystopian society idea of women being the rulers from a Chinese movie called the “Twin Effect”. I kind of mashed the concepts together. I will try my best to keep it original ^^ I twisted it to make it more fun and interesting with Luhan having to dress up as a girl. He has feminine features so he can totally pull it off. Is that still cliché? Hehe I ship Chorong with Luhan, like, I’m seriously delu over them <3 I can’t wait to write it! I hope you enjoy reading this story. Thanks for checking it out.

Foreword

After a long day of work, a group of men celebrate in the night. But instead of music, they hum a song under their breath to the beat of the evening crickets. Instead of dancing, they tap their feet on the cold cement floor. Instead of silk gowns, they wear dirty rugged clothes that have not been washed since last winter. Smoke is thick in the air from the smuggled pipes in their mouths. The atmosphere is suddenly broken when the backdoor is slammed open.

“Pack up!” Yifan shouted from across the room. “They’re here!”

As soon as the men heard the announcement, the women soldiers came rushing in with their spears and swords. Three Chiefs assisted the soldiers each with their own team- that meant was going down tonight. The hideout was being investigated for some time now. The case was ready to crack and the ladies were trapping these slaves at the right time.

Bomi raised her whip to slash a man’s back and dragged him across the room before he slid out of a window. “Catch every one of them!”

The men scattered throughout the room, taking the last puff of their pipes and the last drops from their cups before pushing their way out of the hideout. Someone bumped into the table and flipped it over, spilling the liquids in the small cup that was once on the wooden surface.

“…” Jongdae looked at his wasted cup and scowled at the men chaotically scattered in the old warehouse. Minseok stood up across from Jongdae to scram with the others. Jongdae followed and they jumped out of the window, escaping into the west part of the city.

Eunji swirled into the air and shot daggers in their direction. They were too fast though and slipped right out of the rugged warehouse before she could hurt them. Groaning in frustration, Eunji felt a sudden urge of determination. She did not want to lose anyone tonight.

“After them!!” She charged, bumping Chorong on the way out.

Bomi was tying down some the group of men she caught. She gave Chorong a reassuring nod and tightened the rope around the men. Chorong cued for her team to follow her. They were going to make sure that no one got away....
