Kim So Hyun is a 17 year old ordinary girl who happens to be best friends since young with Peniel Shin from BTOB. Since young, So Hyun was always called Hyun-ah by her parent's friends and since then So Hyun is called Hyun-ah (Hyuna).

Hyuna and Peniel have known each other since they were in diaper as their family was really close with each other since they're both born raised in Chicago, USA as neighbors. But a car crash accident killed Hyuna's parents and since she does not have a living relatives, Hyuna and her younger brother KimMinHyun, who is 5 years old, was sent to live with their godparents who is Peniel's parents.

When Peniel went to Korea, Hyuna and Minhyun decided to follow him as their parents were originally from there.
