Chapter 2

Sunday was the only day Jaejoong had free & yet, he felt trapped at the same time. He had a double date scheduled for the day with his long time friends, Leeteuk & Taeyeon; they were setting him up with someone he didn’t know but insisted that he would like her. You could say that this was a combination of a blind date & double date. Taking one last look in the mirror to adjust his narrow silk green tie, he wondered how in the world he let them talk him into this. Getting into his car, he drove over to Leeteuk’s place. He rang the doorbell & waited for someone to answer.

Taeyeon opened the door & seeing that it was Jaejoong, hurriedly dragged him in while insisting that he’d love whom they’ve set him up with. As they reached the living room, Leeteuk got up from the sofa & greeted Jaejoong with a handshake & urged him forward towards a girl seated on the sofa. She had shoulder-length, black hair & looked about the same age as him. She looked sweet wearing a perfect pima elbow-sleeve delicate-trim-v-neck red tee with a wearever smooth-fit pencil black skirt. As Jaejoong got closer to her, she stood up & smiled shyly at him.

“Jae Oppa, this is Seo Joohyun. She’s an architectural design artist.” Taeyeon excitedly introduced her.

“It’s nice to meet you Jae Oppa, Leeteuk & Tae have told me so much about you.” Seohyun said, as she held out her hand with a sweet smile.

“The pleasure is all mine. Although, I’ve heard nothing about you from them.” Jaejoong answered, shaking her hand & giving the couple that set them up a look that said, ‘I’ll confront you later for telling me nothing’, “Shall we get going?” Leeteuk inquired.

The two couples left in separate cars & came to the same destination. The two cars stopped in front of a quaint restaurant & the men let the valet take the keys. Walking in, Jaejoong met the host who recognized him immediately.

“Welcome Mr. Kim. We have the perfect table for you.” The host said, as he led them to a quiet table for four.

As the lunch went on, Jaejoong got to know Seohyun better. Actually, the truth was, once he showed some interests in her background, she wasn’t able to stop talking. He just sat there & nodded along to what she said while he became extremely bored. It wasn’t that she was so self absorbed that all she could talk about was herself. It was the fact that Jaejoong himself was reserved & barely said anything & she felt the need to take over that part for him also. Watching her, Jaejoong noticed that she was extremely positive & hyper. She didn’t really act her age; it seems like her true age should be eighteen & not twenty-six which he learned while listening to her. Noticing the time, Jaejoong thankfully called for the bill; the talking could finally stop.

“So, where should we go now?” Jaejoong asked, before Seohyun could continue speaking.

“Why don’t we go to sunset pier? It’s very beautiful this time of the day.” Taeyeon suggested.

“Alright, anyone else have any other suggestions?” Jaejoong queried, to confirm the planned for the rest of the day.

“No.” Both, Leeteuk & Seohyun answered.

Driving to the pier, Jaejoong had to sit through another agonizing session with Seohyun while she started on her college life. He couldn’t keep his mind from drifting & reflecting back to the night he drove Tiffany home & the brief conversation he had with her. He had started the conversation but she didn’t keep it going. She only answered when she had to but she didn’t make it feel unwelcoming, the silence was alright. There was no need to try so hard to communicate. Looking at Seohyun, she wasn’t even aware that he wasn’t listening & missed half the story about her college life. Finding a parking space, he stopped the car & got out to open the door for her.

Taeyeon & Leeteuk found Jaejoong & Seohyun shortly after they parked their car. They began to walk & admire the beautiful scenery & interesting attractions the pier had to offer. Seohyun had taken quite a liking to Jaejoong & wanted to get to know him better. She spent the whole day trying to get him to open up but she felt like she was doing all the talking. Now, the day was almost over & she had told him almost everything about herself but she knew nothing about him.

“It’s getting dark. We should go home.” Leeteuk said, taking Taeyeon with him.

Seohyun heard them & turned towards Jaejoong. He was staring at the water, lost in thought, ‘I guess I have to go get him.’ She thought, disappointed that it wasn’t the other way around. Letting out a sigh, she started to walk over to where Jaejoong was.

“Finally, some peace.” Jaejoong thought. He never thought that just listening to someone speak the whole day would tired him but it did. For the love of god it did. It surprised him that Seohyun wasn’t worn out from all that talking. Looking at the water, the sunset made the water sparkle & glitter. The scene was breathtaking that it gave Jaejoong a calmness he needed all day. Turning around to find the others, he caught sight of a familiar feminine figure sitting on a bench. Taking a step forward, he recognized her. She was Tiffany. Jaejoong was about to walk to her but was stopped when someone caught his arm.

“Oppa, Leeteuk said that it’s getting dark & we should go.” Seohyun told him.

“Alright, let’s go.” He replied.

Before leaving, Jaejoong threw one last look at the bench he saw Tiffany sitting on but he was puzzled when he found no one there. He had only turned away for a minute. However, there was no time for him to do anything else as Seohyun was dragging him away. Looking for a logical explanation, he decided that he must have been tired & saw things. As to why the person he thought he saw was Tiffany remained a mystery to him.

Tiffany woke up in the morning to find the sun shining brightly & the birds singing. Climbing out of bed, she walked into the bathroom. Coming out after her shower, she got ready to do her morning errands. Leaving her apartment, she headed for the bus stop. Being busy all week with work & school, she could only take care of her personal business on Sunday’s. The bus arrived & she was off to do her first errand of the day.

After lunch, Tiffany opened her apartment door & stumbled in with three bags of groceries. Putting them on the kitchen counter, she took in a deep breath & started to sort through them. After she put everything away, she settled on the sofa. Looking at the clock, Tiffany saw that she still had lots of time left & was bored beyond belief. Pondering what to do, she picked up her roxy boardwalk brown shoulder bag from the sofa & walked out of her apartment once again. She reached the street & waited for the bus to sunset pier while she watched other cars go by.

The pier’s scenery captivated Tiffany. Being so busy, she was never able to see the pier during sunset. It was still crowded but that was part of what made it fun to be there. Tiffany wandered around for a while, checking out new attractions & later decided to rest at a nearby bench. Sitting down, Tiffany noticed that the setting sun had a beautiful effect on the water. It glistened & shimmered under the golden sunlight making Tiffany feel so tranquil at that moment. While admiring the water, Tiffany noticed a man staring at he
