Underneath The Night Skies (Jinwoon One-Shot)

Description

The sky is truly large and magnificantly beautiful. With it's peaceful skies, puffy clouds in the sky, and bright brilliant light shining so brightly. But that's not what Lee Eunmi loves best about the sky.

She loves the dark, peaceful night skies. Where you could just sit back and not be so blinded by the sun, just to look at the sky. And the best part about the night sky is being able to see the dim moon and the billions of stars awaiting in the sky.

Jung Jinwoon has been friends with Lee Eunmi, since they were in grade school together. They went to the almost every school together. But when high school came, they became different people.

But later, Jinwoon discovers that Eunmi is terribly ill and could possibly leave him forever.

Rukia1335 is BACK! With a one-shot that I swear that I will definitely finish this time!

this is a one-shot that i've been thinking about over a year and wasn't sure how to write it until last night when I thought of the plot. It was something that I realized haven't written in a while.

this one-shot is probably not going to be seen much by others, since i'm not sure who really likes jinwoon oppa, but it's his turn to have a one-shot! and he fits this plot very well~ so i hope you enjoy and please do comment letting me know how this made you feel~

Foreword

*10 years earlier*

-Jinwoon’s POV-
I ran as fast as I could to our usual spot, up on the roof. I’m always late to these sort of things. What kind of friend am I to her, if I can even promise to get to these meet ups on time?

It was in the middle of the night. The shining dots in the sky were glowing clearly and beautifully on this peaceful, empty night. The roads are completely empty, the silent wind rustles through the trees, and most importantly, Eunmi is waiting on the roof for me.

I made it to the front of the empty, dark school. Surely no one could possibly be here at the moment. It’s 2AM now. I can’t make her wait any longer. I dashed through the empty hallways, leaving behind echoes of my scrambling feet running in the halls.

I ran up the flight of stairs that led to the entrance of the roof. Finally reaching the cold metal door, I pushed it opened and ran into the emptiness of the roof. I stopped suddenly, trying to catch my breath. I can’t allow Eunmi to see me this way. Well not in a hurried way. She’ll accuse me of being late again.

“OPPA!” she pounced at me, jumping from above. I screamed out of fright. “AH!!!” I fell backwards, landing on my . She giggled. “Oppa! What took you so long? You’re late, AGAIN!” she jumped on top of me and hugged me.

I sat up, hoping she would get off me so I could stand up. But that doesn’t work on Eunmi. She still was attached to me, keeping her arms wrapped around me. I chuckled and hugged her back. “Mianhe, Eunmi. You know how it is for me to get out of the house.”

She let go and smiled up at me, “It’s okay oppa. I don’t really care, just as long as you come.” She hopped out of my lap and pulled me up. “Hurry! There’s only a few more minutes before it starts!” she dragged me over to the already set up floor bed we usually have here.

I bent down and laid on the spread, facing the sky. Eunmi was still standing. “What are you doing?” I asked her, she turned to me. Before she could answer, I pulled her down to lay next to me. She gasped a bit but soon regained her composure.

“Oppa?”

“Hm?” I looked up in the sky, watching the beautiful stars become brighter and brighter. She never really said anything. I turned over to her and stared at the cute side profile of her. Her eyes were extremely big and brown and she’s very petite for her age. Makes me wonder if she’s really 10, because I wonder if she has ever lied about her age. She could be possibly 8 at the moment. But I wouldn’t know, I’m only 10 as well.

“Don’t you wonder how big the sky is?” she turned to me.

I shook my head, “I’m not so sure. Wae?”

She shrugged. “It makes me wonder sometimes. Maybe we just imagine that the sky is really big, but in reality, it could be really small.”

“What makes you say that?”

“Because everyone lives under this same very sky. There’s probably more than 10 billion people on this planet, but this world seems so small.” She looked back at the sky again, taking in its beauty. “I do wonder sometimes. We pass by everyone at least once in a life time. Would there be a chance that you would see that same very person again? Even though we’re under the same sky?”

“I don’t understand you at all Eunmi,” I sat up slightly, perched on my elbows.

“I’m trying to say that we’re all under the same sky, right? We keep passing by different strangers every day. But we don’t even see them again. Will there be a chance that we’ll see them again?” she asked, emotionless.

“Why?” I asked, having this feeling that I’m asking her too many questions already. But I guess it doesn’t bother her.

“What if there was a chance that one of those people you pass by, was actually someone that was destined to be with you?”

“Well if you’re destined to see each other, then the chances are very high then. I’m sure you will see the destined person more than just once. If it was destiny, of course.” I answered her, with a bit of logic. She nodded and I laid back down on my back and observed the sky.

“Oppa?”

“What is it, Eunmi?”

“I want to be a star one day.” She whispered. “Just one star. Almost just as bright as Cassiopia, so I would be remembered.” I nodded.

I was pretty sure her dream could come true, if it was possible.

“OPPA! LOOK! IT STARTED!” she smiled, pointing up at the sky. I looked up and was taken aback by the beauty of the shooting stars in the sky. It was truly magnificent and beautiful. She squealed, “Oppa! Hurry! Make a wish! It’s all going to go away so soon!”

I closed my eyes, and pretended that I had just caught a star in my hands. It was glowing in the darkness with me, conscious. My hands lingered over to Eunmi’s hands and held them as she held my hands as well.

“Oh beautiful star that I have caught tonight,” I spoke to the star. “I wish I may I wish I might, I wish to make a wish tonight,” I continued on. “I wish to be with Eunmi…forever.”

Chapter 1: Ohmygosh. I really should be doing my English essay right now. But I happen to love angsty oneshots and this is my cup of tea. Great job writing this! It was very touching and brought tears to my eyes.
