It's a weird feeling, being empty. Up until now, she had a goal. Find Daehyun. Talk to Daehyun. Hug Daehyun. Talk to Daehyun some more. Daehyun, Daehyun, Daehyun, Daehyun, Daehyun. Everything hinged on Daehyun.
Now she's found him, but he doesn't want to talk to her. He doesn't even want to look at her.
Jiae tries summoning him again, of course. How could she not? It's Daehyun, and she's… she's lonely. But each time she does, he doesn't speak – lately, he's taken to looking at her with his big brown eyes, staring at her solemnly, but that's about it — and he flickers out within minutes of his summoning.
So she's moved on to summoning other wandering souls. Because she's lonely, okay? And the lost folks are the only ones who seem to tolerate her. And even that's probably because she's the only child who tries to talk to them.
She's not bitter about this. Really, she's not.

What is this story? I was trying to write up a character study so I could get better insight into the characters of A Boy with a Name, and guess what, this came up. I apologise beforehand, for some of you readers who are a fan of the trilogy might go, ‘What the heck is this?’ after reading or, ‘What does this mean?’. Well, all I can say is that it can mean whatever you want it to mean. Eep!
Pretend this is an insanity AU where nothing is as what it seems c: everything is only an embodiment of everything else. To those who have read A Boy with a Name and A Boy without a Heart may be able to guess where I am coming from. But if you do not, then that is fine too.
Of course, the concept is the same: forbidden things and unbidden things, as well as ‘trying to rid yourself off of your problems by dwelling in a world that is parallel and abstract’. Remember Daehyun’s greed for fame? c; We’re just going to conceptualise insanity based on that.
