They were high schoolers.
Merely high schoolers about to go on a fun field trip to Jeju and they had 10 more minutes until boarding their ferry.

"Aahh! I'm so excited." Kim Minseok exclaimed.

"Shouldn't we all? We're almost graduating as high schoolers, and we're taking this last field trip to Jeju!" Luhan said.

"Everybody! May I have your attention! Start getting into a straight line! We will be slowly boarding. Please prepare your tickets! We'll be boarding students, then teachers!" A crew ship member yelled.

"Se...wol..." Minseok slowly read."thats such a nice name for a ferry."

That was their ferry's name. 'Sewol.' Meaning 'time and tide.'
All the students were extremely excited. 

"Minseok-ah, can you hold my sweater? I need to get my tickets out of my bag." Luhan asked.

"Hm? Sure!" 

"You seem so happy today, hyung."

"Well yeah, we're going on a trip to Jeju!" Minseok replied.

"Hahaha,"Luhan chuckled."of course."

Luhan was happy too. Extremely happy actually. He was planning to confess to Minseok about how he really felt about him there at Jeju. It was the perfect location. Luhan and Minseok were extremely close and everybody was jealous of how good of friends they were.

Minseok smiled.
Luhan smiled.

Luhan had the need to just kiss Minseok.
His smile... his lips... his face.
They were perfect, to Luhan.

"Yah, why are you staring at me like that." Minseok laughed.

"Huh? Oh hahaha sorry, hyung." Luhan said not realizing how he'd been adoring his friend's face.

Finally they were on the ferry.
It was a pretty cool ferry with a pretty cool name. 
It was the first time Minseok and Luhan... and the rest of the class, went on a trip. Obviously everyone was looking forward to it.

"Ahhh, I'm so tired. How much longer until we get to Jeju?" Minseok whined.

"Haha, you baby. We just got on the ship." 

"But its been so longgg~"

"Just wait.
Just wait until the perfect time to confess" Luhan said in his mind. He was so eager to tell his hyung about how much he loved him. 

It would be perfect right? Jeju's the perfect location. Many people confess there. It'll be perfect.

20 minutes had passed already, they were getting nearer and nearer to their destination.

Minseok fell asleep on Luhan's shoulder and he couldn't help but just stare. Does he really have to wait until Jeju to confess? Why not now? 

But what if Minseok didn't feel the same way? What was he supposed to do?

But was he supposed to lock his feelings inside forever?

Well... he could confess later right?

"Yeah... later..." He said to himself.

Suddenly Minseok woke up.

*yawn*

"Luhannie, why are you talking to yourself?" Minseok asked, overhearing Luhan.

"Oh? No nothing. I'll tell you later." 

"Promise?"

"Promise."

BOOM.

Suddenly he heard a loud sound.
They all heard it.
He didn't know what it was.
No one knew.
Suddenly, a message came from the intercom.

*beep* "Hello, this is the captain speaking. There seems to be some kind of problem with the ship, which we are still trying to find out. Please do stay calm, as we are trying to stablize the ship." 

Suddenly everyone was panicking.
What was the noise?
What was going to happen?

"Lu...Luhan... what do you think it was?" Minseok asked, frightened by the loud commotion.

"I...I dont know,"Luhan replied."but if the captain says to stay calm, we should stay calm for now."

"O...okay..."

Suddenly they felt the ship slowly tilt slightly.

There was a bunch of commotion now. A bunch of people asking what they were supposed to do.

"What was that?"
"Did you feel that?"
"What are we supposed to do?"
"Shouldn't we do something?"
A bunch of students started to say.

Suddenly, there was another message from the captain.

*beep* "Hello this is the captain again. We are still trying to fix the problem. Please, please do stay calm. Stay on the ship and do not move. I repeat, DO NOT MOVE. Help will be coming in 10 minutes!"

"Lu-Luhan, Im scared..." Minseok started to shake.

"It's... It'll be okay. Help is coming. It is coming."

But 5...10...20 minutes passed.
No help came yet.

"Will it be the end? 
It's now or never." Luhan thought to himself.

"M-Minseok..?"

"Hm?" Minseok answered, his eyes still in fear.

"I...need to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"I...I'm going to tell you now."

"Tell me what? What is it, Luhan?"

"Hyung, I....I love you." Luhan finally admitted.

Minseok froze for a minute and gazed back at Luhan's eyes.

"Lu...Luhan..."

"W-why..? Do you not feel the same way?" Luhan asked with his eyes looking sad.

"No...No...its....I love you too.... I've loved you ever since. The way you talk, the way you smile, the way our friendship has been....I've loved you ever since!" Minseok exclaimed.

"I...honestly I was going to confess at Jeju, but... I guess I should tell you now." 

"And I...I was too afraid you wouldn't love me back." Minseok replied, his eyes looking down at the floor.

"But... I love you." Luhan said."and I'll....I'll never leave you."

Minseok's eyes went back up and met Luhan's.

"Will you... stay with me forever?" Luhan asked.

"Of course. Yes. I wont leave you. I wont, I promise I wont." Minseok replied without hesitating.

All of a sudden, Luhan's and Minseok's lips met.
It was full of understanding and love and they felt together.

BOOM.
Suddenly the ship sank a little more.

"Wh-What's going to happen..?" Minseok asked in fear.

"I-I don't know." Luhan replied, their hands now interwinded."But stay with me. We'll be safe, just... we need to stay together."

Minseok's eyes wandered around looking for what he was supposed to do, but suddenly felt at peace as Luhan spoke.

"O-okay...yeah." He replied, giving Luhan a warm smile.

They realized help hadn't come and it had already passed 25 minutes. The captain finally asked the passengers to put on life jackets.

The ship was slowly sinking. Little by little.
There was more and more commotion every second.
Everyone began to text their families and loved ones.
Asking for help. To be saved. And that they loved them.

"L-Luhan...L-Luhan I'm scared.. I'm really scared." He said, with tears slowly forming.

"I am too. I am too...." Luhan replied trying not to seem so scared.

They sat there.
Their hands held together. 
They had their life jackets on.

Would they be saved or not?
Time was ticking and the ship was sinking. Slowly. Slowly. Sinking.
What were they supposed to do?
Jump into the cold, frigid ocean water or stay on the ship as it sank?

Everyone's minds were racing.
Their minds only set to what they should do.
Praying, praying that help would come quickly.

Minutes had passed.

Help not yet arrived.

What should they do?

The ship was already on edge, and within just a few minutes, the ship would be fully tilted, causing them to fall sidewards.

Crew members rushing to help everyone.
Captain sending out many messages to stay calm.
It was frantic.

Tilt. Tilt. Tilt.

Passengers screaming.
People jumping off.
Luhan and Minseok sat there.
They decided to sit.
And wait.
And stay together.

What other choice was there?

Finally the ship was fully sinking.

Almost every single passenger already there in the icy water.

Including Luhan and Minseok.

"HELP! HELP!"
"PLEASE!"
Everyone screamed.

"I-I c-cant do this any--anymore." Minseok said.

They had been in the water for so long already, and the water was crazily cold, everyone started to freeze up.

"M-Minseok, no. You can do this. P-please. We promised we'd... We'd be together forever. Please!" Luhan cried.

"I-I'm so sorry Luhan...I'm..sorry." 

"NO, PLEASE, I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU." He screamed.

"I...I love you...too." Were Minseok's last words until his life jacket ended up getting deflated by the icy water and slowly slipped away.

"NO. NO, PLEASE IM NOT LETTING YOU GO. PLEASE M-MINSEOK!" Luhan sobbed. He tightly held onto his friend. He didn't want to let him go.

"MINSEOK PLEASE. WAKE UP. WAKE UP!" He yelled.

Minseok wouldn't wake up.
Luhan's face froze with horror.

He was.... dead.

Luhan couldn't bear it anymore and sobbed. His body felt frozen and tired but he couldn't help but cry. The only one he loved, and loved him back, was gone. Gone.

Luhan let go. 
Slowly, Minseok slipped away.
It made Luhan break into pieces watching his friend go.

Going.

Going.

Going.

And finally,

Gone.

Suddenly Luhan's world went black.
He couldn't open his eyes.
He couldn't move.

His heart stopped beating.
His lungs stopped breathing.
And his body.... gave up.

A few minutes later, help finally came.

But it was too late.

Minseok was gone.

Luhan was gone.

A lot of people were gone.

They were just.... gone.
