"Last day, son. You should start packing up. I'll see you soon. And don't worry, it'll be alright."
Mr Kim couldn't help but feel regret in his words. He watched his son drown in sorrow and fear the last week, and as a father, it was more than scary. It was so concerning and worrying. He was scared his son was going to end up an emotional wreck. And he couldn't help but put the blame on himself.
But he couldn't reverse the time. He couldn't go back. All he could do was to hope for the future.
Kai was packing away some shoes and he picked up one of the things he had bought for her. He had bought her a beautiful crystal heart, a red one, made of fine mineral. And as he weighed it in his hand, he felt the intensity of the red, drawing him in, making him feel the pain.
Ironic, wasn't it? How red symbolized love. And yet it was the colour of blood.
But that was his love for her. So deep and so strong that he would shed good blood for her. He'd shed blood till his last pint for her.
"Son. Come here."
He didn't often have private and deep father-and-son talks with Mr Kim. But when he did, it always made him feel better.
"Do you love her?"
"More than you can ever know."
"So what's stopping you from fighting for her?"
"I don't know."
"Look, son. You're going to see her in two days. You're going to have to face the reality. And as for your marriage? You're going to have to make it or break it. It's up to you. You can't control her emotions. You can't control her. But you can control yourself. Your actions, your words, your thoughts, your feelings. You have the power to fix up what you've done wrong.
