“Go to sleep now, close your eyes. Try to think of tomorrow.”

He didn’t want to think of tomorrow. He would rather it end right now.

He opened his eyes partly and smiled, looking into a pair of lifeless eyes.

“Sleep well my baby.”

He will end up falling asleep. But whether or not he slept well, that was hard to tell.

He gave the doll a gentle kiss on its forehead.
