The Wolf's Song

The Wolf's Song

The winds are roaring with passion,

The night sky is dark and depressed

A being that lacks compassion

A being that’s no longer blessed

The stars and moon, behind they hide

A blanket of clouds, masking fate,

That will come from the darker side.

So we wait to open the gate.

It’s something we all acquire,

It’s how our system operates.

We come in modest attire

Except they won’t cooperate

They want us gone, they want us dead

They will fail, they will not succeed

Tonight’s the night humans will dread.

Tonight we will commit the deed!

We will roam around in darkness,

Our hearts appear to be blackened

We are forever deemed heartless

All because of what happened.

At night, eyes shine like candle flames,

Pupils dilate in the twilight.

The moon that hides behind tree frames,

Thrills them with bitter delight.

To the moonlight we’re all sired,

To the witch we owe displeasure

To the man we all admired,

Departed, alone together.

Carnivorous and ferocious,

I hate it with all of my might

And what we do is atrocious.

And all out of delicious spite.

No, we were not always like this!

A wedding, crashed, we broke in fear

A day meant for the purest bliss

For a girl he felt very near

He left his bride at the alter

But little did he know it would

Cause our lives to collapse, blaze, FALTER!

And leave us hungry in the wood

For him we are being punished

Men, she claimed to have been worthless

A  Witch, to us she had tarnished

And now their bodies lay lifeless

So we sit as she controls us,

All we can do is serenade

Our punishment to be unjust;

For the destruction that she made.

Superstition creates ignorance,

Ignorance that left us banished.

Our homes are ditched in the distance.

As we grow weak, we grow famished,

Our starving ribs, lolling tongues swing

We howl, we groan, our jaws slacken,

The wolf’s song, grizzling chops sing:

Pain caused our vision to blacken.

Sadness caused by that wretched man.

No wolf will find a form of love

Forever alone with this clan,

To hide and watch them from above

Deemed to live in isolation;

Our souls lost, our abandoned hearts,

To breathe in alienation…

Endlessly, till death do us part.

Snap, crack, rustle reverberates

Sound that is recognizable,

It leads to a compelling fate.

She looks a meal so sizable

A girl so light, a girl so fair.

With her velvet red shawl and cape,

Ominously, under her hair;

Flaxen, like lint upon her nape.

Budding with age, maturity,

And innocence of her being,

I’ll break her glowing purity,

I’ll have her under me pleading

For the life she never will know.

Once alone and out of danger

Oh the irony that’s on show

Dear, you never talk to strangers

My darling you are so naïve

Have your parents never told you,

Because you’ll surely be deceived

Don’t trust the people you talk to

We are monsters of our maker,

And we’re all looking for a feast

We’re fiends of our creator,

We’re well known as blood thirsty beasts.
