An Understudied Love

An Understudied Love - Woobin

Going to the set early in the morning was the last thing you wanted to do on a sunny spring morning, yet it was your job and you knew you needed to go. With a warm drink in your hand, you walked to the studio where you would be filming that day.

"Welcome Miss _______" You manager called as you bowed once you opened the door. "Go and head over to wardrobe, we are just about ready to start."

Everyone handed you clothes for you to put on for the scenes ahead. Coming out of the dressing room you walked over to do your hairstyle as you read the script once again, making sure that you had your lines memorized. Since this was your first drama, you wanted to make sure that you were giving every scene one hundred percent.

Once your hair was finished, you thanked them for their hard work as you headed over to the set.

”______ this is Kim Woobin, he is your coworker and he will be acting as your love interest in this drama today.” You manager introduced you as you bowed with a smile and he bowed back with a stern bad boy look plastered on his face.

"Everyone gather around!" The director called as everyone turned their attention to him. "Thank you for all agreeing to do this for me! It really means a lot, so let’s make this drama the best one yet! Fighting!"

With his little inspiring message, we jumped into filming. You watched from the side lines as the cast started with the back  story, your coworker, Woobin caught your eye as he was so passionate with his acting that it seemed like he was the same person.

Watching him, you couldn’t help but feel that he was a cold, tall, annoying guy that had no kind feelings in his body as you really felt like he stepped into his role a little too much.

”_____, your scene is next.” The coordinator whispered in your ear as you nodded.

"Cut! Next!" The director called, being extremely happy with the way things were going.

"Make sure that when you turn around you are surprised and a little scared okay?" Your manager said as you nodded and entered the set with your heels that clicked against the floor.

"Action!" The director called as you grabbed books from your locker and held them in your arms as someone cleared their throat behind you. Slowly, you turned around as you saw him, Woobin, staring down at you with those cold, harsh eyes. Fear struck you as your back hit against the lockers making a loud bang as you dropped your books to the floor.

"Stay out of my way" He snarled as he leaned in, becoming centimeters from your face, nodding gently he pushed himself away from you as you looked at him confused before you bent down and picked up your books.

"Cut! Perfect!" The director clapped as everyone moved into the class room scene.

”______ go sit over by the window with your head on your arm like you are sleeping.” Doing as you were told, you sat in the seat and laid your head on your arm as they made slight adjustments as you closed your eyes.

"Action!" They called as Woobin walked into the classroom, seeing your books on the edge of the desk he came over and picked one up before slamming it down onto the table as you opened your eyes and looked up at him.

"You’re in my seat." Woobin snarled as you lifted your head and looked around the room.

"You can choose another one can’t you?" You sleepily remarked as you placed your head back down onto your arm, closing your eyes.

"Aish this girl!" He mumbled as he walked out of the room.

"Cut!" The director called.

The day seemed to fly as both of you worked together, with only a few retakes your manager was really happy with your performance. With the night hours coming around, you yawned as you were stepping off of the set for the day. Changing back into your street clothes and running your fingers through your styled hair, you sat on a stool, leaning against the wall as your thumbs typed away.

"Great job today! It really looked natural!" Your manager said as he patted you on the shoulder.

"Thank you, I try my best." You smiled over at him as he gave you things you could work on for tomorrow before he walked over to talk with the director.

"Woobin!" They called as he trotted over to them, the circle of men talked for a while as you looked back to your phone.

"They said that I should take you home, since it is dark." Woobin remarked as you lifted your head and shook it furiously once you saw that it was him.

"N-No it is okay, I am fine walking home by myself." You stood up from the stool and began to walk to the door as you grabbed your bag. Quickly his arm slid into yours as you looked up at him.

"Let’s just make them happy until we are outside." His hushed tones almost had a kindness to it as you knew that this boy was trouble.

Once both of you were under the stars he pulled his arm away from yours.

"The manager said that we have to rehearse together for tomorrow." Woobin said as he looked around taking in his surroundings. "Tomorrow night at your place." He said as you nodded, turning around, he walked the opposite direction as he slid his hands into his coat pockets as you walked the other direction back to your home.

— Woobin’s POV —

Walking to her small apartment, I felt uneasy, feeling like something was going to happen but I didn’t know if it was going to be good or bad. As my feet walked to her apartment, my mind kept wondering to her yesterday, the way that she acted so naturally scared around me pushing me to be uncomfortable was something that was new and unique, something that no one has ever done before.

Standing in front of her door, my heart began to race for a reason I knew not. Lifting my hand I knocked on your door, holding my breath I tried to let it out but it was stuck. My heart began to race as I didn’t know what was happening. Once the door swung open, you were standing in some comfortable, loose sweats that hung around your waist as a t shirt hugged your shoulders and your hips as it was so cute with the graphic design on the front, your hair was in a messy yet pretty bun and I couldn’t help but freeze.

All of the words that came out of your mouth seemed to be silent as you stood a side and I walked in. Slipping off my shoes, you walked into the living room as I looked around the the pops of color that were everywhere. Sitting on the other side of the couch, I unrolled the script from my hands as we both turned to the scene that we were going to be working on next.

It was a scene with a lot of talking, so you introduced the scene as my eyes tried to stay on the page, but your beautiful words were like honey and I couldn’t keep my eyes off of you. My hands became sweaty as I rubbed them on my jeans and looked at you as I felt my heart skip a beat and my cheeks burn with heat.

I didn’t know how I was going to concentrate with you being here with me…

Weeks passed as both of you worked hard together, rehearsing lines and spending the breaks with each other as both of you became really good friends. A smile was always on your face as you waved to him good morning and goodnight when Woobin walked you home every night, due to managers orders. Both of you were really hitting it off as it showed in the drama and in your acting as the characters grew together as well.

With the drama coming off smoothly, episodes started getting released as all of the staff and actors worked tirelessly on the new scenes. The story line developed beautifully as you watched the episodes that you acted in with a bright smile on your face. Yet with every scene with you Woobin was getting more and more clumsy, missing his lines, miss stepping, he was just not on his game.

Finding it a little odd, you walked up to your manager on a break just to ask if he knew what was going on with Woobin.

"Nothing is going on, I guess he is just having an off week." Your manager said as you nodded.

"It isn’t because of me?" You wanted to make sure that your inexperience acting was affecting him.

"No, not at all. We all are just getting tired, I am sure he just needs a few days to sleep it off." Your manager reassured you as you nodded and went to go get some water.

Looking around, you sipped your water as your eyes found Woobin, leaning against the wall all alone. Watching him for a while, you saw him sigh after sigh while his fingers played with his water bottle. Slowly he looked around and found you staring at him as he walked over to you.

"Why were you staring at me?" He questioned as he grabbed some more water.

"I like watching people." You defend as your eyes drop from his figure.

"Watch someone else." He threatened as he left.

"I don’t know how someone could be this cranky for this long." You mumbled walking back to the set.

Filming wrapped up relatively quickly that day as the staff needed a few more hours of editing to do today. Bowing and thanking all of the staff, you gathered your things before you walked over to the doors. Woobin was standing right in front of them making it unable for you to leave.

"Are you going to walk me home today?" You rubbed your eyes gently as you were far too tired to deal with his bad boy attitude today.

"No" Woobin grumbled

"You have to, it’s the manager’s orders." You whispered

"Fine" He whined

Opening the door for you, he walked beside you as you lead the way to your home. The soft song of the crickets filled the air as an awkward air settled around the two of you.

"Woobin… What did I ever do to you?" You asked him as he looked over at you.

"What do you mean? We are just coworkers." He said looking back down at the concrete.

"I mean, you were so nice and happy but now you are so mean and cold to everyone." You felt uncomfortable as your fingers played with one another.

"So?" He questioned.

"Did something happen to make you not nice and smiley to everyone anymore?" You entered your neighborhood as you pulled out your keys.

"I don’t want to be happy all the time." He said as you stepped up onto your stairs that led to your front door.

"Don’t you like me? Did I do something wrong?" You asked knowing that you were always friendly to him when he always gave you the cold shoulder.

"You didn’t it is just me." He sighed as his foot played with a stray rock. "I-I get this way when I like someone."

"Who do you like? Is is one of the coordinators?" You asked with a little smile on your face as he shook his head. "What about the lighting girls?" He shook his head once again as you began to think hard of what other girls you worked with, "What about the girls that bring us lunch sometimes?" Still another head shake as he looked up at you.

"It’s you. I like you" He said as his twinkling eyes showed a hint of fear as you smiled and trotted down the steps and wrapped your arms around him. "Yah! What are you doing?"

"Giving you a hug." You looked up at him with large eyes as he bit his bottom lip to restrict him from smiling.

"People could see us." He pushed your hands away from him as you nodded.

"Ah… well… goodnight." You turned around with a smile on your face as you walked up the steps again. Sliding the key into the handle, you pushed open the door as Woobin watched you disappear inside.

"Sweet dreams, cutie."
