Passenger

I don't want to be a passenger in my own life.

A story inspired in Passenger- Let Her Go

Inspiration Track:

Foreword

-“I love walking in the rain, 'cause then no-one knows I'm crying.”

-"And if no one knows I'm crying no one knows I'm hurting" She said in a loud voice.

Just to herself. The room was empty. It was if she was narrating and commenting her own life. She looked to the window of her bedroom. The rain was still falling, just like the tears in her eyes. An endless stream of tears. She didn't even know where she kept those tears. But...somewhere.

She looked at her phone and everytime she would bury her face in her knees much like a child would. Jessica Jung was her name.
Reason she's crying? Girlfriend left...
Yeah girlfriend you heard me right the first time.
Kim Taeyeon used to be until like...2 hours ago? Be Jessica's girlfriend. They fought...
The reason? Jessica can't rememeber anymore, but she was sure it was something serious.
I mean, they fought a lot of times but never like this, never to the point of Jessica being as broken as she was right now.

You know what is the worst when a relationship ends? It's the waterfall of feels and memories that just comes crashing down from out of nowhere, into your brain and sometimes for the more weak hearted...the eyes.
Jessica bit her lips as she remembered every little detail and every stupid memory of her and Taeyeon.

Meanwhile Taeyeon was standing at her doorway...someone was sitting on the doorsteps that led to her door. A girl who looked at her with a not so satisfied look.  Taeyeon looked at the girl and faintly smiled. She remembered their conversation, she knew that the threat this girl had made her...okay more of an ultimatum would be fulfilled if this ever happened. That's why Taeyeon smiled, she wasn't even surprised to see the girl here.

Tiffany Hwang was Jessica's best friend. That and...she was in love with Jessica. She wanted her but when Jessica revealed to her that she was in love with Taeyeon. Tiffany went to Taeyeon's house in the middle of the night that day, she can remember it as if it was today...because of the rain.

Tiffany was seriously...drunk. And driving drunk is not one of the best things you can do with your life. But Tiffany didn't care. Her heart, body and soul had been destroyed by the girl she loved most on this earth and the worst is that she didn't even did it on purpose.

Jessica looked at Tiffany as they sat across each other in a table of a coffee shop.

-"Fany" Jessica said sweetly.

-"Huh?" Tiffany said looking at her.

-"I think I'm in love" Jessica said.

Tiffany was surprised to hear those words. Suddenly a little spark of hope lit on Tiffany's heart.

-"Who is it?" Tiffany asked.

-"Okay, don't be surprised but...it's Taeyeon" Jessica said blushing and almost fangirling.

Tiffany was shocked...really? Now what are the odds...

Best friend.
You like best friend.
Best friend likes your ex-girlfriend....cool.

Luckily, Jessica didn't know that Taeyeon had been Tiffany's first and only girlfriend to the date.
Tiffany did her best to smile and be happy for her best friend. But she was breaking inside.

And so with tipsy steps Tiffany walked up the staircase and knocked the door with loud bangs. A small figure opened the door and was surprised to see who it was.

-"I wanted to tell you aomwrrihdng" Tiffany said.

-"If you eveasdr dosasd somethgjn to Jesciaca" Tiffany was trying to say something but she eventually passed out.

She woke up in Taeyeon's sofa. They both sat on the sofa. Taeyeon looked at Tiffany.

-"Jessica likes you" Tiffany said.

-"I know" Taeyeon said.

-"She confessed?" Tiffany asked.

-"Yeah" Taeyeon said.

-"You know what I'm gonna say?" Tiffany asked.

-"No" Taeyeon answered.

-"Well, let's make a deal, if you ever hurt Jessica in a way that your relationship is beyond repair...I'm allowed to take her" Tiffany said.

-"..." Taeyeon didn't answer and only nodded, in a way that Tiffany understood.

And so with all that Tiffany was here to make it happen. Just like they had promised years ago.

-"You know what I'm doing here right?" Tiffany asked.

-"..." Taeyeon didn't answer and only nodded. In a way that made Tiffany think of that night years ago.

-"Will you hate me?" Tiffany asked.

Taeyeon nodded no.

-"Well, I shall now keep my end of the bargain..." Tiffany said as she left.

Jessica was crying, when suddenly the doorbell buzzed, she got up from her seat and went to open the door.

-"Tiffany?" Jessica said as she hugged the girl.

-"Hey Jessie. Are you okay?" Tiffany asked.

-"No...I'm not okay" Jessica answered.

-"You know right? I broke up with Taeyeon...hours ago..." Jessica said.

-"I know, I know" Tiffany said as she tightened the hug on Jessica.

-"You'll be fine, You'll be fine because I'm here with you" Tiffany said.

Taeyeon sat on her door steps. She wasn't able to get inside her home, she felt like if she went inside than all that had happened would be real...and some part of her didn't wanted it to be real. A part...lies...almost all of her didn't want to break up with Jessica. But why had she do it then...After so much crying she doesn't even rememeber why.
Taeyeon looked at the white marble of her doorsteps and watched as tiny droplets fell on them....
And believe me...those weren't the rain.

2 months later.

Taeyeon had been living normally, she was still trying to forget Jessica, it was getting easier...as each day passed that she didn't see Jessica it was as if the details of her were slipping out of her mind. As Taeyeon was going home she decided to pass in front of Jessica's place.

Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missin' home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go

That's when Taeyeon saw it. And that's when I guess the reality of her break up with Jessica really started to sink in. Taeyeon saw Jessica and Tiffany, walking down the street. Hand in hand. Taeyeon's eyes were filled with tears, regret, and jealousy.
Jessica and Tiffany kissed each other before going inside the car and driving off.

Taeyeon sat in a lonely, alcohol and smoke reeking bar. By the counter, she already knew the bartender quite well.

Staring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you'll make a dream last
But dreams come slow and they go so fast

You see her when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you'll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies

Kim Hyoyeon was known as a love healer, as she always gave the best advice to the most lost of hearts. But this time for Taeyeon...
She just kept pouring, because she knew the story of this girl and she knew that no good advice is going to bring Jessica back to her.
If Taeyeon was going through the five stages of grief than she would be in acceptance right now.

But you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missin' home
Only know you love her when you let her go

The worst is that Hyoyeon had to see her friend pass through all the stages. Denial and Anger. When Taeyeon decided to thrash the bar to smithereens, earning of couse a beating from Hyoyeon who would not admit lack of respect in her establishment.

Staring at the ceiling in the dark
Same old empty feeling in your heart
'Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast

Well you see her when you fall asleep
But never to touch and never to keep
'Cause you loved her too much
And you dived too deep

And when she went through the other two stages. Bargaining and Depression. Taeyeon wishing on shooting stars or on wishing wells. Praying to the heavens to give her Jessica back and when she went through depression. Hyoyeon had to put up with her drunk friend for a lot more than what she was used to.

Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missin' home
Only know you love her when you let her go

And you let her go (oh, oh, ooh)
And you let her go (oh, oh, ooh)
Well you let her go

So Hyoyeon knew, she knew very well that seeing Taeyeon here, right now and with a slight smile on her face as she gulped down each glass means that she has accepted it, she has accepted that her relationship with Jessica is over and that she won't be back...forever.

'Cause you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missin' home
Only know you love her when you let her go

Taeyeon smiled as her friend made her a question.
Taeyeon nodded and smiled.

-"Did you love her?" Hyoyeon asked.

-"Yes" Taeyeon said.

-"Deeply?" Hyoyeon asked.

Cause you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missin' home
Only know you love her when you let her go

-"Yeah" Taeyeon answered.

-"I loved her like no one else in my life, and I know she's in good hands now" Taeyeon said.

And you let her go

-"How do you feel now?" Hyoyeon asked.

-"Better" Taeyeon said.

-"Better? Better how?" Hyoyeon said.

-"I kinda feel, like I'm the driver now, during the time I was "grieving" " Taeyeon said as she made quotation marks.

-"I felt a bit of a passenger as I saw all the memories of her going away" Taeyeon said.

-"I felt powerless" Taeyeon said.

-"Well, now that you've broken up why don't you call this number here" Hyoyeon said as she gave the small paper slip to Taeyeon.

-"Really?" Taeyeon said with disbelief.

-"Yeah call her" Hyoyeon said.

Taeyeon grabbed her phone and dialed the number.

-"Hello?"

A one shot I wrote on SSF when the radio wouldn't stop playing this song. I know it's not great but I enjoy it.

Thank You
