“Almost two decades ago the Earth witnessed a meteor shower unlike anything ever recorded. Unprecedented, unexpected, but well received and extensively documented by millions of amazed citizens. Yet even the finest minds on the planet are still scratching their heads all these years later, unable to explain what it was or where it came from. More puzzling still are the twelve collected remnants of the shower – people who spent time in the presence of these murky, strange stones became very ill and died of an unknown disease. There were some, however, who volunteered to contribute to the advancement of the genetic sciences as well as astronomy, and gave the first child born after this exposure back to the researchers. What we found was that both of the child’s parents died, but the babies were very much healthy although all twelve were male. Just as we were close to a breakthrough on the effects of the stone, however, two members of our country’s secret service – disguised as part of our research team, ha – abdicated with the young children, our research, and all twelve of the stones.”

The intern stared at his professor open-mouthed; trying to digest the entirety of what his new mentor had just told him.

“So… Where are those kids now?” the young student asked curiously.

The elderly professor wrung his tired hands together and sighed.

“Nobody knows.”
