Part 5

“Your handwriting looks familiar…”

Chen stiffened. “Hmm… Where have I seen them before?” Liyin continued.

Chen tried to think as quickly as he can, but he couldn’t find anything to say. He have to say something, if not she’s going to recall those stupid love notes. Chen wanted to open his mouth but Mark beat him to it.

“You probably saw them on my notes or homework? Jongdae hyung will always offer to help me!”

“Oh yea, he always make me do his homework for him.” Chen laughed, and grabbed Mark into a headlock.

Liyin frowned, disapprovingly, “Mark, you should do your homework yourself in future.” She then smiled and teased, “I’m gonna keep you in check from now on!”

Chen heaved a sigh for relief and received an angry glare from Mark. Chen quickly let go of Mark and made a fake cough.

“Oppa, can I take a listen at what Jongdae already recorded?” Liyin stood by the sound engineer and put on the headphones.

“Hyung, did I guess it right? Did you actually write love notes to her?” Mark whispered, earning a glare from Chen. “Wow, how lame.” Mark said, “I shouldn’t have saved your . When did you ever do my homework for me!” He whispered again.

“Fine. I will buy you ice cream tomorrow.” Chen whispered back. “Make it a week.” Mark said just in time when Liyin removed the headphones.

“Teacher Ri In, I will be leaving first. See you tomorrow!” Mark said and quickly fled, refusing to let Chen change his mind.

Liyin blinked, amused and made her way back to Chen and sat beside him.

“Okay,” she clapped her hands together, “Let’s get started shall we?”

Liyin’s really patient. She’s probably the most patient girl he had ever met, other than his mum. And with Chen not fully focusing as he’s very distracted by Liyin’s lips, it took him longer than usual to get the pronunciation right.

“Okay, say it again with me. It’s ‘jiānnán’ not ‘juannán’. When you pronounce it, ‘ji-ae-n’ stick your tongue out on the ‘n’, like me, it will help you pronounce better.”

Chen stared at her lips, and her rosy pink tongue. His heart pounded and he swallowed. ‘Omg. I’m such a ert. I need to get out of here.’ He was giddy and frustrated with himself. He can’t breathe properly.

“Jongdae? Are you okay? You don’t look so well.” She asked, worried. “Shall we take a break and continue later?”

“Yea… That’s a good idea.” Chen said and squeezed out a smile.

Liyin gave him a gentle smile, squeezed his shoulder and left the room.

Chen sighed and rested his forehead on the table. ‘Get a grip of yourself, Jongdae. What the hell are you thinking?’ He thought and continued banging his forehead lightly against the table.

He heard the door open and soft footsteps walking towards him. “Jongdae…” He heard her called lightly.

He looked up and sees her smiling at him, passing him a bottle of water.

“Are you okay?” She asked.

“Yea, don’t worry!” He took the bottle from her and smiled.

They sat in silent for a moment and she broke the silence.

“You know… it’s been about close to 5 years since I last released any new songs, so this is really important to me. I’m really sorry if I was being too nit-picky about the details, I didn’t mean to. I know you’re tired from your group activities, I feel so bad having to put you through all these.” She said and played with the bottle of water in her hands.

Chen stared at her, guilty-stricken. How could he forget this is something she’s been looking forward to? She shouldn’t be apologising for all of these, because he’s such an idiot who can’t keep his feelings in check. “Noona, don’t say that. It’s not your fault. Don’t feel bad. Let’s perfect this together okay? Trust me; we’re going to sound perfect together.”

Liyin looked at him and smiled, “Thank you Jongdae-yah…” She thinks he’s just trying to make her feel better, but he’s confident they would really sound perfect together.

“So… Can I trust you as Kim Jongdae and not Chen?” Liyin bit her lower lips; she doesn’t know why she’s nervous. She doesn’t know why she’s reliant on Chen. Maybe she’s just embarrassed she was being so honest with him.

His heart skipped a beat; he wasn’t expecting Liyin to say that. Trusting him as Kim Jongdae and not Chen? She wants to trust him as Kim Jongdae and not the Chen that belongs to his fans. She hopes to build a friendship and not just a work relationship.

Eventually he smiled widely and said, “Of course.”

“Nice to meet you, Jongdae.” She lifted up her hand and offered a handshake.

He shook her hands and said, “Shall we begin again?”

I'm sooo sorry for the late update. I've been sooo busy but decided to still do an update!

Really thank you for all the comments and subscriptions! It made me not want to give up on this Fic because my inspirations were dry, I'm too tired from work~
