The Real and Only Truth

How Can I Break Up with an Idol? [HIATUS]

Shin Hye’s POV

“Yah, Shin Hye what took you so long?” I heard my brother yelling from a distance. I gazed at the patio and saw him staring at me.

“Mom borrowed my car so I have to ride the subway just to get here in time”

“Aish, you could’ve just called me on the phone so that I could pick you up from the house”

“But I don’t have a cellphone” I reminded him

“Uh, well yeah, you’re home schooling and there’s no need for you to use a cellphone”

“Are we gonna eat or what?”

“Let’s go…I’m hungry anyway” he said wrapping my arms around my shoulders nudging me to walk with him.

“How did you know how to ride the subway?” he asked

“It doesn’t mean that because I’m home schooling is that I no longer know anything about the outside world”

“I know that of course, I’m just curious coz’ I think you only goes out of our house when there’s a place mom and dad wanted us to go and besides we’re always riding together in my car so maybe you’re clueless about subways, well, that’s what I thought”

“Not really”

We reached his car, I sat on the passenger’s seat and he on the driver’s seat he started the engine and we dashed off to the main road.

“Any suggestion on where to eat?” he asked glancing at me then on the road

“Anywhere you want, it’s your birthday anyway” I replied

“Why don’t we try something new, you know any luxurious restaurant by here?” he asked

“I ‘m a home student, how would I know any” I reminded him

“Oh, sorry”

A moment of silence passed…

“Why don’t we try the European restaurant by the seaside, it’s something new right?”

“Sure it is!” I exclaimed

We traveled for a few more hours and at last we reached Café Riviera, it is owned by a French businessman, famous for its perfected art of the chocolate croissant and Black Forest pastry.

“We’re here” my brother warned as he turned the engine off and went out of the car, he opened the car door for me and I carefully hoped out the car. I inhaled the perfect breeze of seaside and exhaled heavily.

“It feels good to be out of home” I said while slightly stretching my arms upward

“You sure have a different perspective in life” he remarked “But with this kind of place, it really is better that being home” he added

“So, are we going in or not?” I asked drifting my gaze to the entrance of the café

“Let’s go” he again wrapped his arms around the shoulders and we entered the café

A warm European ambiance welcomed our presence, it has a cultured interior, wooded set of tables and chairs decorates the luxurious café, many people are inside but it doesn’t really look so crowded, a magnificent interior design indeed.

“Bonjour!” a girl probably in her twenties greeted us with a smile

“Bonjour” I and my brother greeted back

“May I take you to your seats?” she asked with an extreme level of politeness

“It’s our pleasure” my brother replied

The waitress took us to the café’s far edge corner where the stunning panorama of the seawater is visually appreciated. We sat opposite to each other.

We took the menu from the center of the table a carefully browsed it.

“Pretty expensive huh” I murmured while browsing

“Easy for you to say, it’s my treat for today” he snapped

“Pay the bill or not, I didn’t bring any money so you will still pay the bill in the end” I protested

“You’re such a kind sister” he said giving me a faked smile

  “I know right”

“May I take your orders?” the waitress then approached us carrying a paper and pen on her hands.

“Tagliatelle with Bolognese Sauce” My brother ordered

  “Carbonara for me” I added

“And a bottle of Limoncello” my brother added again

“And two orders of Chocolate croissant and Black Forest pastry” I added again and again

“Is that all?” the waitress asked

“Yes, that’s all, thank you” my brother reassured. The waitress left and my brother gave me a 'Dig-Your-Grave' look.

  “What?” I innocently asked

“What do you mean what? You ordered too much just because you don’t have to pay for anything” he blurted out

“Well, that’s what you call taking chances” I said giving him a smirk…a teasing one

He laughed in disbelief “I’ll get back on you” he said

   “If you can” I retort

“I can” he said gravely

“Whatever” I said drifting my gaze to the water.

The blue seawater reflects the vast sky, birds flying above, I tried following the bird’s trail but the sun blinds my eyes, it’s just too bright. The water is so calm that it can ease anything, even a worried heart; in this place everything feels so right.

“Here’s your order” the waitress approached us arranging the food on the table

   “Thank you” I said

“You’re welcome” she replied “Are you two here for a date?” she asked

“No, he’s my brother and he’s celebrating his birthday today” I replied

“Ah, is that so, what a cute siblings, must be born from good-looking parents” she said “Well then, enjoy your stay” she said before going back to the counter

“Do we look like lovers?” I asked incredulously

“I’m too pretty to be your boyfriend” he quip

   “Are you gay?”

  “No I’m not!” he defended

“Whatever, I’m hungry, let’s eat now” he said getting the fork and he started devouring the food served, I stared at him while he’s eating, well my brother really is handsome but he always thinks that he is pretty still I’m prettier that him though.

“Yah, get over my pretty face and start eating will you?” he protested

“Oh, sorry, I’ll start eating now” I said getting my fork from the table

“It’s been a while since I last talk to you like this, I’ve always been so busy with my career and when I go back home, you’re already sleeping and speaking of school, have you taken University exams?” he asked taking a sip from his wine glass

“I passed five different university exams but-”

“Really then what course are you gonna take?” before I could continue my speech he cut me off asking me what course I’m gonna take

“I’m planning for Architecture and-” I paused and changed the topic “Is the guy with you earlier Lee Jeremy?”

“Y-Yeah, what’s up with him and how did you know him?” he wondered

“Never mind and about my course I’m planning to take Architecture but…but”

“But” he focused his stare on me

Should I tell him that I want to be a nun because I saw Lee Jeremy in person, definitely not, he might think I’m insane, yeah, he will surely think I’m insane.

“But what?” he once again took a sip from his wine glass

“I want to be a nun” I blurted and he almost choked on his Limoncello

“What the heck is wrong with you, are you sick or what?” he said in disbelief

“I’m serious; I want to be a nun!” I rallied

“Stop that insanity Shin Hye, you’re a home student and yet now you suddenly wanted to serve God?” he said putting his wine glass down and I just nodded. “Tell me the truth okay? I know there’s nothing wrong in serving God but please tell me the truth”

“The REAL TRUTH is that I want to be a nun” I blurted and he gave me a ‘Holy S***’ look, he’s totally speechless

“Hee Chul oppa, I, Park Shin Hye, wanted to be a nun please believe in me”
