A perfect day to celebrate

Description

Reita hates Valentine's day, while Kai loves it.

Foreword

Reita could be sweet sometimes, but he never celebrated the Valentine's day with Kai.

On Christmas, he would buy Kai the perfect presents, as well as on his birthday.

On Halloween,  he'd buy Kai the best costume he could find and give him all treats he wanted, as well as received a little treat himself too after it had gotten dark.

On New Year, he would give Kai the best night ever and they would together watch the fireworks light up the nearly black sky above Tokyo.

But never did he do anything special on Valentine's day. No gifts, no chocolate - although Kai always gave him a huge amount of KitKat - no nothing. Kai wasn't exactly bothered by this, but he was starting to get very jealous of Aoi and Uruha, who would always spend the said day together somewhere out of country, making love and whispering sweet, loving words into each other's ears.

A few times had Kai asked Reita why they didn't do anything on Valentine's day, and all he got was that if Christmas already was for lovers, why would anyone need Valentine's day.

This year Kai was slightly annoyed by the fact that Reita was calmly sipping his coffee, ignoring all the effort he'd put into this. There were pink balloons and ribbons everywhere, their bedroom especially was decorated with the theme, and there was KitKat wrapped in pink and white papers everywhere.

"Reita. Are you blind?" he finally snapped.

"Huh?" the bassist said, surprised by Kai's frustrated tone that usually was so cheerful.

"Don't you know what day it is?!" Kai asked.

"February 14th, Friday", Reita calmly answered.

"And? What day is it?" Kai asked, raising his eyebrows and folding his arms as he crashed the dishes he'd been washing into the sink. He was glaring daggers at Reita, and the latter had never seen him like that.

"Valentine's day?" Reita tried carefully.

"Bingo. And do you have any idea what that day is celebrated for?" the drummer asked in a poisonous voice. Reita sighed, ran his fingers through his blond, messy hair and muttered: "Kai... I've already told you. I don't celebrate it."

"But I do!" Kai's eyes changed from angry to desperate and he walked to Reita, gazing at him in verge of tears. "C- Can't you celebrate it with me at least for once?"

"I'm really sorry, but I can't", Reita said, looking a bit sad.

"Why not? I've prepared everything! There's decorations, we can rent movies, I can run us a bath, I've already prepared the bed, we can enjoy the evening by the fireplace... Please, Reita!" Kai begged, now really starting to cry. He never realized how important this had been to him until now, when he was crying for it.

"No. Sorry, Kai", Reita refused stubbornly.

"Reita!" Kai screamed, not knowing what else to say. The blonde, who was clearly getting annoyed by Kai's actions, announced he was going to go for a walk and left the house.

Kai started crying pitifully, sobbing loudly and didn't stop for a moment as he started getting all the decorations off the walls and furniture. He placed all the KitKats neatly into a glass bowl and took a giant teddy-bear from the couch, hugging it tightly as he moved on to the bathroom. He put away all candles in the apartment, cleaned rest of the rooms off the decorations and then collapsed on their bed, crying even more.

He squeezed the teddy-bear, letting his tears make its fabric moist, and hiccupping on its face and pretending he could do this to Reita when he came back and the latter would apologize to him and wish him a happy Valentine's day.

It just never happened.

...

The next day, fifteenth of February, Kai woke up next to Reita as usual. He remembered crying himself to sleep, but knew Reita hadn't yet arrived when he fell asleep. But now, the bassist was peacefully laying next to him.

One thing was missing, though; a warming embrace. Usually Kai woke up in the loving safety of Reita's arms, but now Reita was farther away from him as usual and his hands were not even touching him. Depressed by this, Kai shuffled closer to his lover and leaned his head on his shoulder, feeling like crying again. What if Reita was still mad at him? What if he would wake up and start yelling because Kai was too close to him and he was disgusted?

"Kai...? You awake?" Reita muttered. Kai felt a hand the back of his head, and an arm wrapping around his waist and pulling him closer to the bassist's chest.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to wake you up", Kai whispered, a bit afraid. Reita smiled and caressed Kai's cheek lightly. "Don't worry. I was up all night. I laid on the bed just about ten minutes ago."

"Oh. W- Why didn't you return home earlier?" Kai asked carefully.

"I had business to do. I came back somewhere around eleven, when you were already sleeping. Which is good, because I wouldn't had time to prepare if you were up", Reita explained in a soft voice.

"Prepare?" Kai repeated in confusion. "Reita, what are you talking about-- Wait, what's that smell?"

"Try to guess", Reita said, kissing Kai's forehead. The smell was very sweet, and fresh, like... "Rose?"

Reita nodded, still smiling. Kai frowned and asked: "Did you buy new cologne?"

"I'm not wearing any cologne", Reita answered.

"Hey, is it just me or does it smell like chocolate too?" Kai asked, now a bit shocked. Reita laughed and said: "How about you put your glasses on and look around."

Kai got up quickly and hurriedly put on his black-framed glasses, to see the room beautifully decorated with the same style as yesterday, only a lot more... loving. Not even bothering to ask, he shot up from the bed and hurried out of the bedroom and realized the whole house was decorated for yesterday.

"I know I'm too late, but... Kai, will you be my Valentine?" Reita asked. He'd risen from the bed too and was now hugging Kai from behind, whispering his request into the blushing drummer's ear.

"Y- Yes", Kai stuttered. He stretched his neck to turn his head and their lips met, Reita's tenderly moving against his and his own moving along.

"Why did you do this? I thought you hate Valentine's day", Kai asked after the kiss.

"I might hate Valentine's day, but I love you more than anything this world would have to offer me", the blonde murmured against the drummer's neck.

"So that's why... All this...?" Kai couldn't come up with better words, he just gazed into Reita's dark, loving eyes and tried to wipe away all the countless thoughts that were flashing through his mind like the lights at one of their live shows.

"I'm sorry about yesterday... I'm sorry I made you cry. I promise I'll never, ever, hurt you again", Reita swore and tightened his hold on the brunette. Tears started rising in the chocolate brown eyes again, but this time they were pure joy.

"Oh my lord... Reita", he whispered and hugged the bassist tightly, like he would never let go.

"Today will be just for you", Reita promised and kissed Kai passionately. The latter wrapped his arms around his lover's neck and pulled himself closer.

"Really?" Kai asked.

"Really..."

They embraced a little more, then went to the kitchen for breakfast. Reita was going to make it, but knowing Reita's cooking skills, Kai thought it'd be the best for him to make it so he did, though Reita had wanted to pamper Kai for the whole day.

Then they played a game that Reita had planned; they would both hide chocolate hearts that Reita had bought all over the place and the one who found the most would get a reward. Reita let Kai win by purpose and the drummer got an amazing massage. He'd always loved feeling Reita's strong, slender fingers massage his shoulders, and this time felt even better than it had ever before.

After midday they went out to the town to get lunch. They ate at a high-classed restaurant that had very expensive meals, but having a lot of money with him, Reita didn't mind and paid it all.

After the lunch, they went to rent movies. Reita said he'd thought of renting them when he was out last night, but had realized Kai would like to pick some himself. To this Kai replied that Reita would've known what to rent anyway, but was happy to decide on the three movies they would watch.

Then they headed to an amusement park, but didn't stay there long since, as Reita told, they had a tight schedule. They just rode the ferris wheel and a couple of other, not-so-wild-going rides and played a few carnival-games, Reita winning Kai the best rewards.

When they got home, Reita put in the first DVD, but they didn't eat anything while watching since they'd eat dinner after it.

For dinner Reita had ordered a gourmet meal from the same high-classed restaurant they'd eaten at today, as well as some very expensive wine of an amazing quality.

They watched the second movie while enjoying a little fresh dessert, yet again from the restaurant. As for the third movie, Reita had prepared huge bowls of snacks for them to eat.

It was already dark when the final movie finished and Reita led Kai to the sitting room in front of the fire-place. The room had no lights on as the fireplace and the numerous candles that Reita had lit lighted it up enough, dim and romantic. The candles smelt sweet and exotic.

Reita asked Kai to sit on the soft, fluffy carpet in front of the fireplace and sat behind Kai himself, starting to massage him again. Kai moaned at Reita's skillful movements and leaned against him, pleasing the older male.

When Reita was done with massaging, he took Kai to the bathroom, which also was lit up with candles only. Kai wasn't sure, at exactly what point had Reita managed to run the water, but it was still steaming hot and he didn't pay any more attention. There were sweet-smelling rose-petals on the surface of the clear water, making it even more romantic.

Kai enjoyed the bath even better then the massage at the fire place, especially since Reita's hands once again found their way to rub his shoulders in a rhythmic movement. But when the hands sneaked lower on his body, he yelped and realized exactly how much better the bath was.

What was even better was what they did in the bedroom, where they spent the rest of the night making deep love. When finally finished - the sun was about to rise - Reita kissed the panting drummer's both cheeks lightly and muttered: "Happy late Valentine's day, love."

Later that day Kai stayed in an extremely good mood, as well as Reita did for accomplishing such a perfect February 15th for Kai.

"Hey, Reita, why do you hate Valentine's day so much?" Kai asked curiously when they were eating dinner.

Reita explained how when he was still back in middle school, he had confessed his love to a girl he'd had a crush on for years, but got harshly rejected and got traumas.

"That's why February 14th isn't my favorite day of the year", he finished, smiling sadly. Kai's smile was wider as he wrapped his arms around his lover's neck and pointed out: "That's why we celebrated it on the 15th. And we will every year from now on."
