Jessica smiled bitterly to herself as the song continued to play, wanting to do nothing more but what the singer had just sung in the chorus. 

She wanted to stop pretending, but she knew she couldn't. She wouldn't be one to ruin her bestfriend's happiness, even if she wanted to do nothing more than walk over to her and just plant one on her. But she couldn't nor would she ever.

Instead she looked away from the couple before her and looked at Sunny, who had misty eyes and a shared headphone in her ear. The two shared a knowing look and Sunny squeezed Jessica's hand, a small gesture to comfort the elder girl. 

"I know, Sica. I don't wanna pretend ethier." whispered the younger girl. 

I don't wanna pretend 

So peace will be real

As the song came to a finish Jessica looked Sunny in the eye, a glint hope mixed in the overbearing sadness and whispered two words that sent a jolt of hope directly to the younger's heart.
