“What a great day to be put in the hospital, huh Krys? Right on the day before my wedding.” Jessica chuckles, but the younger Jung kept quiet.

“So...drunk driving, was it?” Jessica asks as she goes to sit on the hospital bed on which her sister lies. “You know I hate it when you do these things…”

Hearing no answer from the latter, Jessica rises from the bed, only to be pulled back down by Krystal’s hand.

The older smiles and grips her sister’s hand tighter. For a while they stay in solemn quietude, relishing the warmth of each other’s hands, until Krystal decides to break the silence.

“Are you still going to do it?” She asks softly.

Jessica turns to face Krystal with a confused expression. “Do what?”

“The wedding.” Krystal says in a hushed whisper, hiding the pent up bitterness she wishes to let out.

There was a short pause before she answered, “No”

Krystal’s eyes widened at her unexpected answer. “What?”

“I’m postponing it.”

“Why? You’ve already had it all setup, invited everyone, ordered all the food, and everything!” She argued.

“I know...” Jessica says as she gets up to pour herself a glass of water at the counter, her back facing Krystal.

“But tomorrow,” She continues, “I’d much rather be here with you…”

And with that, a deafening silence once again engulfed the two.

Krystal knows she shouldn’t be feeling this way, but she can’t help the small smile from forming on her lips.
