Chapter 9
Love Within A ContractNANA POV
“Entangled Love Triangle.”
This isn’t good…ugh why did that have to happen…how am I going to-
My thoughts were cut short when the voice of Jooyeon’s mother shattered through making me snap back into reality. “You can start by introducing yourself.” She said as she eyed me while maintaining great posture as she sipped her tea.
“I-I uhhh…”
“Oh uhhh? That’s a nice name Jooyeon told me your name was Nana, guess I was mistaken.”
“Mom!” Jooyeon shouted in my defense as she released my hand.
I looked at her, as she glared at her mother. “It’s okay Jooyeon, I’m sorry Mrs. Lee.” I bowed. “My name is Im Nana.”
“So Im Nana…I’ve read about you.”
“Mom…”
“Ta ta ta…Jooyeon its time for me to get to know your wife.” She said as she waved her finger in the air.
“I see from the articles that you’re still in college.”
“That’s right. I’m in my last year ma’am.”
“I see, and the article about you and that boy Kris?”
“That I can explain he’s just a-“
“Friend?”
“Yeah, we’ll we used to know each other and we haven’t spoken in a long while until last night.”
“I see. And do you have any feelings for this guy?”
“I did.”
“So-“
This time I cut her off before she got the chance to retort “That was before I fell in love with your daughter.” She leaned back against the chair. And I felt Jooyeon slowly slipping her hands into mine entangling them as she rubbed her thumb against the back of my hand almost as if she was secretly praising me.
“So you love my daughter huh?”
“Is there any other reason people marry?”
“Tons. People can marry for fame, money, a better life.”
“Well no disrespect, but I chose to marry your daughter for love.”
“I see, and your family background?”
“Well my dad is a doctor.”
Jooyeon cleared . “My doctor mom, he was my doctor. So maybe you should be a little nicer to the daughter of the man who saved my life.”
Jooyeon’s mother raised an eyebrow “Wait…so you guys met before or after you knew about her father being your doctor?”
JOOYEON POV
“…” I felt my heart beat rise up and pound against my chest as my mind tried to process yet another lie that I would tell. “We met-“
“We met after my father had been her doctor. After school my father would be still working so I decided to go to work and visit him. One day I walked in on him talking to Jooyeon and there it was that spark that made me feel uneasy. Ever since then I had been going to see her to get to know her better and from there that’s how all of this happened. Right Yeobo?” she turned to smile at me, and it was that smile that made me at ease.
Flashback
Mr. Im and I had been moving his daughters stuff to our place all day and now I’m going to meet her. Aish what a day, my last day being y free and single hehe. We heard the door knob turning and Mr. Im pushed me into the kitchen along with him. We peeked through the door, and when I saw her I could have sworn that everything had stopped in place. Was this what it was like to get your breath taken away? Then she dramatically ran downstairs after realizing her things were gone. Her father went out leaving me in the kitchen. I couldn’t help but smile looking at her shocked expression. Wait what was my cue to go out?! He said uh when he says…. I forgot.
“Hey Mr. Im when was my cue to come out again.” I peeked out from the kitchen trying to be stupidly discreet but I was obvious.
Mr. Im sighed “Well the surprise is ruined now.” He laughed “Come out, Jooyeon.”
I walked out from the kitchen looking at the girl sort of analyzing her. Holy she’s tall. Well that . So far self-confidence at an all-time low
“Who is she?” His daughter pointed to me.
Mr. Im showed a mischievous grin and I couldn’t help but softly chuckle. “Nana, meet your wife Jooyeon.”
And that was the start. The first time we met.
End of flashback
I looked at my mother then back at Nana as I showed a soft smile, still smiling from the memory. “Right Jagiya.”
“Oh I see.” My mother replied with a somewhat satisfied tone. Aish thank god. My mother is killing me.
“And you know about our reputation and how popular we are to Korea right?”
Nana shyly laughed, “Aha..uh-“
“Mom…your pushing it.” I said firmly staring at my mother.
Her phone began to ring as she picked it up. “Oh yes I’ll be there shortly!” My mom stood up, “Sorry children but I have to go. I have an important meeting.”
Nana stood up and bowed. “Thank you for coming.”
My mom walked away leaving us in the living room as Nana sat on my lap, as she took my arms and wrapped it around my waist when the maids came.
AUTHOR POV
Little did they know that as they were leaving Jooyeon’s mother was chatting with the maids.
“I don’t know Mrs. Lee, they seem like their faking it in the beginning, and now I don’t know.” The maid glanced at the couple in the living room sweetly hugging and whispering to each other. “They can be real.” I mean look at them.
Jooyeon’s mother peeked her head out and looked at her daughter laughing with the so called wife of hers. She felt the side of her lip curve into a smile but quickly managed to wipe it off.
“I need to know this girl is for real. I still have my doubts so I want you to watch them like a hawk now ok?” Jooyeon’s mother eyed the maid.
“Nae, Mrs. Lee.” The maid bowed before opening the door letting Mrs. Lee leave.
NANA POV
I sat down on Jooyeon’s lap so that maybe it would help at least make it look real, I took her arms and wrapped them around my waist and watched the maids eye us.
Jooyeon’s soft chuckle caught me off guard. She leaned close to my ear and whispered. “You did good today, Jagiya.”
I placed my hands over hers that were entwined over my stomach. “Thank you Yeobo. You could have done better.” I laughed as I whispered back.
“Yah…haha its my mom, she’s intimidating you know.”
“I can tell haha.” We laughed together as the maids watched. Seriously how can they be so suspicious we look like a couple right? These acts are believable right? They are an act right? No feelings…right? I began to doubt my answers as I got to the last question.
Jooyeon’s fingers began to play with mine, damn she’s getting good at this acting thing, she is still acting right. She shyly whispered. “Would you like to go on a date?”
Thump Thump, Thump Thump….
“I…”
To be continued.
