Classic Creamy Cheesecake: A Pound of cream cheese. A cup of Sugar. Six large eggs. Three tablespoons of lemon juice etc.
New York Style Cheesecake: Two cups of crushed graham cracker crumbs. A half cup of melted butter. 1 3/4 Cups of sugar. Two tablespoons of flour etc.
Choi Seunghyun could sit here and rattle off all the ingredients to any specific cheesecake recipe known to man. As the main patissier in this small, quaint cafe he ran by himself in the heart of Seoul, it was in his job description to know these things. Everyday was the same routine for the man; he would awaken in his small, messy apartment, go through the motions of getting dressed in the morning (he was in no way a morning person), and then make the hour trek to his little shop. He'd get there early to clean up (He was much more OCD about keeping his shop clean than his own house) and begin his long day of making his normal customers happy.
About half way into his day already and people were filing in and out just for a taste of his desserts. Seunghyun amazed himself on a regular basis on how he could keep up with such high demand of his pastries, but he (barely) always found a way to manage. He sat down at a table and ran his fingers through his long black hair, looking at all of the happy faces enjoying their cakes. This made Seunghyun smile, knowing that he could bring joy into someone else's life just from feeding them sweets. It was quite amusing actually. But sometimes he wondered why he never experienced the same joy that they did. It wasn't like he didn't get some type of satisfaction from baking; he'd been doing it since the cafe had belonged to his mother, so baking was just a natural part of his twenty-two years of life, and to be honest, he was pretty content with it. Even so, Seunghyun couldn't help but feel like there was something missing. Everyday he watched people come and go; he even watched as the days quicky passed him by., but he never once feel like he was actually moving with them. Seunghyun knew he wasn't truly living, more so, he was just existing through the days.
Seunghyun's life was basically at a standstill already, and he wondered how long it would before his life would send something (or someone along) to make him truly start living again...
