Soomi and Junhyung sat on the couch, paying half of their attention to the blaring television set, and the other half to each other. Junhyung turned to Soomi, and he watched her carefully. There wasn’t any doubt, he thought. She was definitely an angel.

The corners of Soomi’s mouth turned up ever so slightly, almost as if she was trying not to smile. She continued to watch the TV as she spoke. “What? Are you just going to bore holes in my head?”

Junhyung threw some popcorn at her. “Aniyaa… Are you okay?”

Soomi turned to look at him. A concerned look fell across her face, matching the almost unnoticeable one of Junhyung’s. “Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?”

Junhyung pointed to the digital clock in the TV. It read 5:33 PM. “Mir’s not back yet?”

Soomi’s face turned stony and she faced the TV once again. “My dongsaeng got himself into a detention.”

Junhyung watched her even more carefully, scrutinising her every feature. “You’re worried…  Aren’t you?”

Soomi sighed and looked down at the pillow on her lap. She clasped her hands together and placed them on top of the pillow before she began to speak. “Yeah… I’m worried. I’m so worried, I don’t even know what to do anymore.”

Soomi’s eyebrows scrunched together lightly. Junhyung did not interrupt.

“You know, like everyone in our family, Mir studied overseas. I finished high school in France before coming back for uni. Mir was supposed to do the same, but I’m not sure what happened. I took him away from our parents’ home, because I was scared they would hurt him. But…”

Soomi turned to look Junhyung in the eye for confidence, before looking back down and continuing.

“I’m scared I’m going to hurt him.”

“Why would you think that?”  Junhyung’s voice was almost icy.

Soomi looked up in shock. She was surprised at the Junhyung’s angry eyes.

“Don’t you see how much he loves you? Of course he’s gonna be alright! Stop overreacting to a detention, Soomi!”

Soomi looked back down at the pillow while Junhyung scoffed and looked away.

Junhyung couldn’t help but feel angry at Soomi. It was obvious to the world how much they loved each other and yet, Junhyung just couldn’t understand why Soomi would be feeling the way she did. Why would she feel as though she was hurting him?

He heard a sniffling noise and looked up to see Soomi crying silently. His eyes widened in shock. “Soomi-ah… Mianhe. I didn’t mean it.” Junhyung whispered.

Soomi shook her head furiously and brushed away her tears hastily and chuckled. “No, you were right, Junhyung. I’m definitely getting too carried away. He’s a high school kid for god’s sake; of course he’s going to be getting detention. I think… I was just worried about losing him, or about him hating me, but I guess I don’t have to. Mir would never leave me nor would he ever hate me” Soomi couldn’t help but smile happily at the thought as she spoke the last sentence.

Junhyung sighed at her smiling sweetly to herself. He grabbed her around the waist and pulled her a little closer.

Soomi gasped. “Yong Junhyung! What are you doing?” she panicked.

“Shh” Junhyung replied as he rested his head against hers gently.

“After all” he smirked, “it is just infatuation”.

Mir’s POV

Detention finished half an hour ago and it was almost 6. I would have gone straight home but I wanted to take her home.

Kyeol was still mad at me. She wouldn’t even look my way. I bit my lip, worriedly. She didn’t say a word when I asked if I she would be alright going home since it was getting dark, so I followed her anyway.

We were a street away from her house. I stopped walking, unable to take the silence any longer. Kyeol walked on ahead, disregarding me completely.  I grabbed her hand gently, making her stop and turn to face me.

I couldn’t look up at her so instead I stared down at my shoes. “Kyeol, mianhe... I didn’t mean it. Jeongmal mianhe.”

Kyeol’s hand quivered and I looked up in apprehension only to find Kyeol covering with her free hand, muffling her laughter.

I gaped in disbelief as she burst out laughing. “Aish, paboyaaaa!! How can I stay mad at you? I forgave you ages ago! Besides it was so much fun!”

Tears stung at my eyes and I pulled Kyeol closer, hugging her tightly from behind. “You scared me” I breathed into her ears, glad she was fine. She merely chuckled in response.

“Pabo Mir!”

I laughed too as I released her. “But is unni going to be mad?” she asked.

“Probably”

Kyeol paused for a moment, lost in her thoughts. “Should I talk to her? Tell her it was my fault?”

“Nah, I’ll deal with it… Besides it was my fault”

I bid her farewell and carried on my way back home. I wasn’t looking forward to seeing noona.

Kyeol’s POV

As I closed the front door, I greeted my mom and rushed upstairs. Slamming the bedroom door, I slumped onto my bed. I could only sit up for a few seconds though, before lying down from exhaustion.

My hand automatically found its way to my left ear. Mir’s breath still lingered in me.

I hope Soomi unni won’t kill him.

I have an exam tommorrow for which I haven't studied one little bit, but I still wanted to update.. =="
