Part 2
No More Perfume On You [ DISCONTINUED ]
-The next day-
You sprang up in your bed as your phone rang loudly. You ruffled your hair and looked at the clock on your bedstand, it read 9:45AM. You reached for your phone and picked up, not even bothering to check the caller id.
“Who are you and what do you want at 9:45AM? I’m a person that sleeps in. You better be someone important, with something important to say” You said, annoyed.
“I’m your lovely amazing boyfriend, aren’t I important enough?” you heard the other line say.
You smiled upon hearing his voice.
“Chunji” you said.
“Hello, my lovely sunshine. Good morning~” he said sweetly
“Morning” you yawned.
“Come on, wake up babe. We have practice today, and I was wondering if you wanted to come along and watch our kickass skills?” he invited.
“Why so confident?” you scoffed
“Alright, alright. I’m sowwie. Come on, I just wanna see my precious girlfriend. You make me feel more energized~” he said
“Araso, araso. You cheesy cutie.” You couldn’t help but giggle.
“Alright, bye. I’ll see you soon!~” he said enthusiastically. You said bye and hung up also.
You stretched and got up to get ready. After a while of freshening yourself up and picking the right outfit, you got dressed and left. You plugged in your earphones and walked happily to TOP Media’s building. You walked in and greeted the lady at the front desk.
“Good morning unnie!~” You grinned. You came here so often with Chunji that everyone knew who you were and let you in without hesitation. You walked down the hall and made a few turns here and there, reaching Teen Top’s practice room. You practically had the entire building memorized. You tiptoed so that you could peek in through the glass window. The boys were all practicing for their comeback performance. You stood and watched them practice passionately. When the song ended, they all fell to the floor, panting. You quietly opened the door and sneaked in. Chunji was lying on the floor with his eyes closed. The other members saw you, but you quickly put your index fingers to your lips, indicating for them to be quiet, in which they did. Without him noticing, you sat down next to Chunji and poked his nose. He swatted the air in front of his face and groaned.
“Oh, stop it Ricky.” He mumbled. You looked up at Ricky, he pointed at himself with an immensely confused face. You giggled.
‘Aish, Ricky is such a kid. I mean seriously, even the maknae is more mature th---wait…. Ricky doesn’t giggle like a girl…. In fact, NONE of the members giggle like a girl.’ Chunji thought, his eyes fluttered open to find you staring at him with big round eyes. He immediately shot up and hugged you. Just then, their manager walked in.
“Why aren’t you guys practicing?” He stopped once he saw you. “Hey, nice to see you came to visit again.” He waved. You grinned and waved back.
“Alright, I know you guys are distracted by such a beautiful girl, but you need to get back to practice!” their manager finished off.
“Yah! Hyung, you’re nearly an ahjussi now. Don’t hit on my girl!” Chunji pouted as he wrapped his arms around you.
“Don’t you Yah me! I’m your hyung!” Their manager said.
“But-“ Chunji started. Their manager gave him a stern look, causing Chunji to gulp and quickly get up to practice. You smiled and got up too, walking off to the side to sit down and observe the boys practice. And you must admit, they were mesmerizing. After a while of practicing, their manager finally let them have a break. The first thing Chunji did was walk over to his bag and grab his phone. You frowned as Chunji replied to a few messages. But that frown disappeared once he walked over and sat down next to you. He put an arm around your shoulder and leaned back against the wall. You took a handkerchief and helped wipe off the sweat on his head. Chunji’s phone beeped, and he quickly flipped his phone open. You stole a quick glance at his phone and then looked away.
‘Si Yeon?’ you thought to yourself since you managed to catch a quick look at the sender, ‘who could that be?” You turned around and stared at your boyfriend, sensing someone was staring at him, he turned around, only to find you staring at him in deep thought. He smiled widely and you couldn’t help but to smile too. You quickly brushed aside all thoughts and wrapped your arms around his waist, only to quickly withdraw back very fast.
“Oh goodness, you’re all sweaty and yucky and gross” you said as you made a disgusted face with your tongue sticking out. He laughed at your cuteness and pulled you into a bone crushing hug.
“Ack!” you screeched, “let go of me!!!~”
“Come on, I look y when I’m sweaty. You know it” He replied confidently.
Coming to your rescue, L.Joe strolled over and grabbed your arm. He pulled you away from Chunji and helped you stand up. He put his arm over your shoulder and walked to the door, not forgetting to turn around and stick his tongue out at your boyfriend. As he did so, Niel quickly pushed him away and replaced L.Joe’s arm with his. L.Joe fell to the floor and Ricky rushed over in panic to his beloved hyung. As the two of you walked out the door, Chunji’s body finally started reacting. He shot up and ran over to the door screeching.
“yah! Yah! YAH! HANDS OFF MY GIRLFRIEND!” he screeched as he ran along the corridors. You took a sideways glance at Niel and saw he was smirking. You giggled as you could hear Chunji whining like a child. He finally managed to catch up and grabbed your arm. You stopped in your tracks and turned around, smiling.
“I-He-Y-“ Chunji tried to breathe out. He rested his other hand on his knee and caught his breath. He straightened up and looked at you. His eyes looked panic stricken.
“Don’t leave me!” he exclaimed. You couldn’t help but to giggle at his childlike behavior. It was pretty cute and made you feel like he really only thought of you. You cupped his cheek with your free hand and leaned in, you pecked his lips. Just while you were thinking about how he was yours, and yours only, your thoughts were quickly shattered when you heard a pair of heels clacking down the hallway. The three of you turned around at the new arrival. Strange. That woman looked oddly familiar. De Ja Vu….you’ve seen her somewhere. When Chunji looked up and realized who it was, he quickly let go of your arm and smiled awkwardly at the new guest. She smiled back and waved her fingers. Then, you realized who she was. She was that old hag from Teen Top’s No More Perfume On You music video, the one that seemed to enjoy groping your boyfriend.
“Um, Niel, why don’t you take ________-ah to get some fresh air for a while?” he said awkwardly. You looked up at Chunji with big round eyes and tilted your head. He smiled at you and ushered you out.
Just as you turned around to leave, he grabbed your arm once again and pulled you into a hug.
“I love you” he whispered only loud enough for you to hear. You lifted up your head and smiled up at him. Studying his eyes, you saw….guilt? Why would there be guilt in his eyes? What could he be guilty of? He patted your head and let go. You turned around and skipped off with Niel. Just as you turned the corner, you realized something.
“Ah! Oppa, I think I should get my phone.” You turned and said to Niel, “You go ahead first, I’ll be right back” you said and quickly scurried off to get your phone. Just as you were about to turn the corner, you could hear Chunji’s voice. You stopped and pressed up against the wall to listen. Privacy be damned, you were eavesdropping on your boyfriend’s conversation with that old hag and you could care less.
“What are you doing here?! Didn’t I tell you to stay away unless I told you to meet up?” Chunji shouted. You could tell he was slightly angered.
“I missed you” you heard Si Yeon say. You peered over the side and saw her drag her finger around your boyfriend’s chest, seductively, causing you to frown.
“Look, my girlfriend is here! You can’t just strut in and expect me to actually pay attention to you! What is it about my texts that you didn’t get? I even told you she was here just now when we were texting.” Chunji said, frustrated as he pointed towards the corner you were hiding behind, which was also the corner you disappeared around with Niel just now, to emphasize you being here. You quickly pulled your head back and leaned back against the wall, in order to avoid being caught.
“Is it that wrong that I just wanna see my boyfriend? Come on, that little kid can wait. Put her in the child pen or something.” Si Yeon said, you peeked over the corner again and saw she had slithered her arms around Chunji’s neck.
“Boyfriend….?” You whispered quietly.
“But, noona, I can smell your perfume already. She’s totally going to notice. Last time, she even saw the lipstick and glitter!” Chunji pouted.
Si Yeon leaned in close to Chunji’s ear and whispered. You strained your head to listen to what she was whispering.
“It’s alright, just lie to her. Don’t you always do that? She’s a stupid little girl, she’ll believe anything.” You heard, it was nearly inaudible, but you heard it nonetheless.
Deciding you didn’t want to hear anymore, you tip toed away with a pout visible on your face, as you thought over the conversation just now. You found the balcony, and saw Niel waiting outside for you. You opened the door and stepped out, shivering due to the sudden temperature change. Niel pulled you over to the bench to sit. You sat down next to him and stared off into the balcony view. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around your shoulders. You smiled, and mumbled a thank you, grateful for the kindness he had given you.
“Tell me.” Niel said without looking away from the wondrous view.
“Tell you what?” you replied
“What’s bothering you.”
“Nothing’s bothering me!”
“Oh, come on! I know you way better than that. Out of all of Teen Top, I’m the one that knows you best. Even better than Chunji, sometimes. I’m practically like your brother”
Sighing, you gave up and spilled the beans.
“ah.” Niel said after you had told him everything. “come here” he mumbled and wrapped his arms around your shaking frame. You responded and wrapped your arms around him, burying your face in his chest. He didn’t give you the same feeling Chunji did whenever you hugged like this. Chunji made you feel loved, but Niel…Niel made you feel like protected. Like everything was really going to be okay. Like he knew you so well, there was so much comfort in his hug.
He placed his head on your head and whispered, “I’m sorry”
Confused, you looked up at him.
“I- No, we all knew about Chunji cheating on you, but never told you. I’m so sorry. We should have just told you. Why else do you think L.Joe’s been hitting on you lately?”
“Doesn’t he always hit on me….?”
“Okay, that’s true, but more than usual.”
You sighed. “It’s okay, I guess. What did I expect? Si Yeon is a beautiful actress and I’m just a measly performing arts student. Why would he have picked me of all people? He’s an idol, he could get any girl he wants. I really didn’t stand a chance.”
“Don’t say that” Niel said. He unwrapped his arms from you, causing you to pout at the sudden disappearance of his warmth. Instead, he placed his hands on your shoulders firmly.
“You’re beautiful. Don’t let anyone make you think otherwise. Just remember, no matter what the world says, you’ll always be perfect to me” He smiled down sadly at you. Looking into his eyes, you found sadness, but affirmation. But the oddest thing, was that you found longing as well. What did he long for? Or, well, who? He pulled you into a hug again and you smiled, you knew Niel was always there for you.
“If I had met you first, I really think I would have fallen for you instead of Chunji” you admitted softly. Niel smiled down at you and whispered oh so quietly “I wish”. The sentence seemed incomplete, almost as if he had more to say but was afraid to.
‘Then I wouldn’t have to bear with this pain of loving you. Even as I hold you in my arms now, you’re still not mine. ’ he finished the thought in his head.
Throwing the thoughts aside, Niel let go of you and smiled. “C’mon, let’s get outta here, it’s freezing” You nodded and the two of you got up and headed inside. As you approached the corner, you suddenly felt nervous.
Sensing this, Niel grabbed your hand. You looked up to find him smiling down at you.
“It’s okay” he whispered in an assuring tone.
“I think I’m gonna nickname this corner the corner of evil.” You said bluntly. Niel chuckled at your cuteness and ruffled your hair. The two of you rounded the corner, to find no on there. You sighed in relief, the two of you opened the door to the practice room and stepped in. Chunji was sitting on the bench with Si Yeon next to him. The members were all glaring at the two and you smiled to yourself, knowing how much they cared for you. Ricky looked away and saw you.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOONA!!!!~” he screeched as he ran over and tackled you. “What took you so long?”
“Miahne Ricky-ah. Niel and I got carried away chatting” you said and pinched his nose. Chunji stared down at your intertwined hands with Niel.
Ricky nodded in understanding and stepped back, only to lunge at you again. For one of the youngest, he was pretty strong. You lost your balance and let go of Niel’s hand, falling backwards with him on top of you.
“yah. Yah. YAH!” L.Joe and Niel chorused as they raced over and dragged Ricky off of you. Niel helped you up, and you dusted yourself off. You gained your balance…….only to be attacked again by L.Joe, causing you to fall with a ridiculously good looking guy on top of you, again….. not that you were complaining or anything. This time it was Changjo who walked over and threw L.Joe off of you. Then he grabbed your hand and dragged you away.
“Ya-“ Niel was cut off when Changjo turned around and glared at him
“It’s my turn now!” he pouted.
“Am I some sort of doll…?” you questioned with wide eyes.
“No, but you sure do look like one” Changjo complimented without turning around to look at you. You blushed and tried your best to hide your rosy cheeks. Seeing your rosy cheeks, Chunji grew jealous. He uncrossed his legs and tried to get up when a hand stopped him. He turned his head around to see none other than Si Yeon dragging him down. He obliged and sat back down, but still continued to glare at Changjo. You saw everything and frowned.
‘He could have at least pushed her hand away and walked over here….’ You thought silently.
Eventually it was time for Teen Top to resume their practice again and you were forced to sit next to Si Yeon on the bench as it was the only available space. Though you’d gladly sit on the floor on the opposite side of the room. The atmosphere was intense and awkward. Even the Teen Top boys could feel it. However, their manager was completely oblivious. You started tapping your foot to the beat. You couldn’t deny it, you loved dancing. You became a performing arts student because of your passion towards dancing. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Si Yeon glaring at you. She smelled so flowery. You assumed it was probably her perfume. Dejavu…. You were sure you’ve smelled that perfume before. Oh well, you started bobbing your head to the tune and you could feel the beat flowing through your veins. After a few rounds of practice, and SI Yeon’s constant glaring at you, the boys were given a break. Changjo waltzed over and grabbed your hand, not forgetting to glare at Si Yeon as he did.
“har?” you looked at him in a confused manner.
“I saw you grooving, come on, let’s get it on” He smiled and dragged you to the center of the practice room. CAP immediately hit play and Changjo started dancing. Man, he really was Dancing Boy Changjo for a reason. You tried your best to follow along and really got the hang of it. But halfway through the song, all choreography was forgotten and instead, the two of you fooled around. Changjo took your hands and the two of you started spinning and jumping. He suddenly grabbed your shoulders and pushed you backwards.
“WHAT THE HELL DUDE.” You screeched as you tumbled backwards only to be caught by none other than L.Joe.
“My turn” he smirked.
He started clapping to the beat and moving his feet, you smiled and did the same, with your back against him…….almost like at a club. Until you didn’t feel his back against yours anymore, you turned around, confused when you felt someone tap your shoulder, you turned around to find Ric Kyi standing there gleaming like the child he is.
“NOONA!!!~” he smiled, you laughed at his actions and he took your two hands, and started spinning until you were dizzy. But he never let go of your hands and even shimmied with you and moved both your arms wildly with his until he disappeared. You looked up, confused, again, only to have your wrist pulled and you turned around to find CAP grinning at you. He put one hand on your waist and held your other one up. Was he… going to slow dance? Indeed, you were right.
You burst into laughter, and CAP just continued grinning like an idiot.
“Geez, man, this doesn’t even fit the fast paced music.” You reached up and bonked him on the head.
“Yea, but this is more romantic”
“oh, ew, old man.”
You both burst into laughter as he lifted your intertwined hands up into the air, above your head, as a motion for you to spin. You did and during mid-spin, his hand left yours and someone else’s replaced it. You looked up once again and saw Niel. He took your hands and led you to place them on his shoulders, as he placed his hands on your hips, firmly.
“This is even better than the old man, cuz we can get so much closer” he leaned down and breathed into your ear.
“I HEARD THAT” CAP’s voice was heard in the background. You laughed and looked away from Niel for a quick second to look at CAP’s reaction, but instead, you caught Si Yeon and Chunji chatting through the mirror. Si Yeon was playing with her hair with one hand, and her other hand touching Chunji’s arm. But Chunji wasn’t paying attention to her, he was too busy glaring at the rest of the Teen Top members. You turned back to Niel and smiled. He smiled down at you and chuckled. He swayed left and right and your body did the same, he placed his forehead on top of yours and stared into your eyes. You both smiled genuinely at each other.
”Why…..why couldn’t I have fallen for you first Niel-ah?” you whispered in slight despair.
“It would’ve saved me from heartbreak” you finished. You were whispering to yourself more than anyone, you didn’t think Niel heard it. But he did, and he gazed into your eyes longingly. Instead of responding he just gave you an Eskimo kiss, forehead never leaving yours as he pulled you closer. However, your romantic nose rubbing was interrupted all too soon.
“HEY, THAT’S NOT FAIR. I DIDN’T GET THAT MUCH ACTION WHEN I DANCED WITH HER.” L.Joe protested in the background. You peeked behind Niel to see Changjo smack L.Joe in the head and L.Joe rub his head as he pouted. You giggled and looked back up at Niel. He looked behind you and nodded in understanding. Confused, you turned around to see who he was nodding to only to have arms encircle your waist, you looked up to find Chunji smiling down softly at you. You turned around again to find Niel had disappeared. You were slightly disappointed, you had to admit. Shrugging, you wrapped your arms around Chunji’s neck and he tightened his arms around your waist. Odd, wasn’t he just by Si Yeon? He got over here pretty quick. You were pretty surprised, you thought he’d choose Si Yeon over you. You sighed and leaned your head against his chest. Humming softly to the song, you closed your eyes as you listened to Chunji’s heartbeat. It was so rhythmic, it relaxed you. He rested his head atop yours and swayed. You wished time would have stopped right there. You breathed in and that’s when it hit you. The same flowery perfume smell you smelled from Si Yeon, that made you get dejavu….was the perfume Chunji smelled like that day he came home early. The day you were baking a cake for Teen Top. And he still smelled like that same perfume.
You quickly pulled back from Chunji, earning a confused and shocked expression from him. You smiled up at him.
“You should get back to practice now” you mumbled. He tilted his head and stared at you. As if on cue, the manager signaled them to resume practice. You stood on your tippy toes and pecked Chunji real quick before walking back towards your designated seat. Great. Another few hours sitting next to this old hag. You sighed and sat down. You’d have to deal with it for now. You sat stiffly and waited. After many hours of strenuous practice, another break was called and you stood up and stretched. It felt great to stretch your cramped muscles. You turned around to glance at Si Yeon when you noticed she disappeared, you looked around for Chunji and saw no sign of him either. Deciding to see if he was outside, you walked towards the door. You opened the door and leaned on it with your side, enabling you to hear what was going on outside.
"I'll see you at the club this Saturday at 10 okay?" You heard Si Yeon say. Before you could listen any further, you felt a hand tug at your wrist. You turned around to find Niel smiling sadly at you.
"Don't. You're just hurting yourself" he said solemly as he pulled you back inside the practice room. You smiled. Niel was always watching over you. Deciding it was time to leave, you bid your goodbyes to Teen Top, picked up your bag, and strolled towards the door. As you opened it, Chunji was standing there, his hand outreached for the doorknob. He saw you holding your bag and his expression grew confused.
"Where are you going?"
"Leaving"
"So early? You usually stay for longer"
"Yeah, but I'm pretty tired"
Chunji nodded his head in understanding and grabbed your hand.
"I'll walk you out"
You nodded and the two of you started walking. While you two were walking down the hallway, Si Yeon rounded the corner and was walking towards you two. When Chunji saw her, he gripped your hand a little tighter. She walked past, but without first giving Chunji a smirk. His grip on your hand tightened even more. When you two finally got to the entrance, he turned towards you and smiled. You smiled back up at him. He gave you a sweet kiss on the lips and you mumbled a "goodbye" and left.
