Inspiration

This is my first attempt at a vampire story where a lot of the "vampiric" elements are based off the supernatural world of the TV show The Vampire Diaries and to a much lesser extent, the Twilight series. If you are familiar with either, you'll probably know what I used from which. Also, there are some historical scenes regarding the Japanese occupation in Korea that I gathered from the Korean drama Gaksital (Bridal Mask) and a Wikipedia article.

Conception

I first came up with the idea for this story around this time last year (December 2012). It started off as a one shot which I had a basic skeleton of an outline for and just had to fill in with complete sentences and dialogue. But after spending a few days on it and finding it to be more complicated than just typing words, I put it off until eventually I forgot about it altogether.

I rediscovered it a year later, and have decided to try and actually complete it. The plot has changed significantly, mostly because it's no longer a one shot. I think that was the problem I had the first time, trying to fit in the whole story in one chapter. It's now going to potentially be a short, multi-chapter story that I hopefully actually complete (because giving up a second time is really discouraging).
