Author's Note
Say, do you wanna sail on the Namsong river?
The chat group, as always, was inspired by the *Namsong chat group* of days gone by.
The Namsong ship had suffered terrible hardships. And most of the friends I made through this fandom, everyone had gone their separate ways and moved on with their lives, while I am still stuck here in this same place, and will probably be here for the foreseeable future. Idk what that says about me, lol. I am overcome with melancholy whenever I look at our numerous group chats, all empty now.
This fic started as a simple story to cope with overflowing Namsong feels. It was the first ship I have ever written for online publication (I had written only one het oneshot before which was only for my sister’s eyes) and it got bigger than I ever thought possible. It was only supposed to be ten chapters at the max, then it grew longer and longer. The story had no proper plot, so me and the OG readers just made up things as we went along. If anyone wanted a particular scene added into the story, I'd write it (Like the Zico/Danah ship etc.) It was the reader’s story as much as it was mine, and those were memories I would always cherish, even with all the inconsistencies.
I wanted to scrap the story halfway because I was unhappy with my writing. However, one thing I had experienced as a long time fanfic reader was the terrible frustration that came with abandoned stories. I didn’t want my readers to experience that feeling, so I tried hard to finish, and it took me till now, seven years to finally come to terms with the limitation of my own skills, and to remember why I started writing this in the first place, that was to write because of the overwhelming love for the ship. I had to force myself to remember that my fic was loved not because of my writing skills but because of the OTP and collaboration with the readers (and also because there was hardly any Namsong fics to read at the time lol).
I will never stop shipping Namsong, so I am going to continue writing as long as there are people who want to read. My new stories are invite only, so leave me a message and I will send you an invite to read anything new I have written. And since I have stopped going online on twitter, if you would like to get in touch with me, I am always available here at AFF, and my instagram @angsty_ships. I will follow back if you let me know who you are. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for anything else- fic ideas, ranting sessions or fangirling. Thank you for being on this journey with me. It had been a rough ride but we are still here and we are still sailing, aren’t we? On the Namsong River.
