Your POV

I opened my eyes slowly only to see the snow falling down from the clear blue sky. I got out of my bed and walked towards the window, I opened the thin curtains only to see how beautiful it was outside. I couldn’t help but thought of my old days with him.

For a moment, for a short moment, the fact that he was no longer by my side was so hard that tears fell. Because it felt like our love was not allowed.

I wished I could sleep forever because it was the only moment that I could get away from this painful reality. Whenever I closed my eyes, it felt like he was right next to me, it felt like I could touch him. But when I opened my eyes, he faded away along with the cold wind. Our memories, why did they remain as longing?

Whether it’s today or tomorrow, why did I keep expecting him to be present? Why did I feel like he will come back to me one day?

I stared the snow falling, I felt like I’ve lived in longing. I was locked in our memories. I felt like breaking down at that moment but I was holding it back though it hurt, because breaking down was not an option for me. I knew that my heart is where he was, I held it back even more because I love him more than anyone in this world.

It is today again… it’s the fourth year that I spend it alone…

I was standing still, not doing anything but reminiscing the old days until I forgot about the time.

It was Jae Won’s first day of elementary school. I totally forgot, I quickly woke Jae Won up and got ready as fast as I could and so as Jae Won, he kept complaining that it was my fault if he was late. I didn’t bother to fight back as I knew it was really my fault.

“Umma~ we’re going to be late.” He whined while packing his bag quickly. Then I looked at the clock and we only had 20 minutes to get there.

We came out of the house and I saw that the elevator door was closing so I yelled for the person to wait.

“Wait a second.” I said as the door was opening again, revealing the guy that lived next door. It had been a week already. He was smiling at me as if we knew each other. I didn’t say anything and just bowed, thanking him.

The moment I stepped into the elevator, I felt strange. It was really weird; it felt different yet indifferent, as if he was there. I could felt him… again.

Author’s POV

Kai was totally happy at that moment. It has already been a week since he moved in but he never got the chance to meet her and now that he finally met her, he couldn’t help but kept on peeking at her.

Young Mi, on the other side was not oblivious as she noticed that he kept stealing glances at her. But she didn’t say anything as she was busy thinking of the weird feelings she got.

Kai couldn’t help but admired her beauty, how could she be older than him, she looked obviously younger. It was his first time feeling that way toward someone, first time in 20 years that he felt like he wanted to protect someone, to love someone. And he didn’t expect that he would feel this way because of someone as cold as Young Mi.

Jongin still had his eyes on Young Mi until he started to feel observed; he looked down and saw that Jae Won was staring at him while grinning cheekily. He was embarrassed so he quickly looked away. He just got caught red-handed.

They all got off the elevator as they arrived; Young Mi took Jae Won’s hand and quickly walked away as they were late for Jae Won’s first class. Kai stared at them and smiled unconsciously. He also made his way to his work place, as he walked, he noticed than Young Mi and her son were taking the same way as him. He then realised where they were heading to as he saw Jae Won’s uniform.

What a coincident! 

Young Mi was walking fast and she could felt that someone was following her as she heard footsteps. She started to feel insecure but she didn’t make it obvious, not wanting to scare Jae Won. She just kept on walking until she arrived in front of Jae Won’s elementary school.

She then turned around and faced the person with a frown. She didn’t expect it to be Kai at all, also she didn’t expect to see him all smiley.

“What do you want?” She asked him coldly and Kai was taken aback by her cold attitude. But that didn't last long as he started to admire her all over again. Not wanting to answer her, he just shrugged his shoulders and walked inside the school.

Young Mi was embarrassed as she finally realised at he was the teacher at the school. She looked down and walked away in shame. Meanwhile, Kai was satisfied by himself and grinning widely. The other teachers were giving him those weird looks but he just couldn’t be more careless.

After school, Kai was playing together with Jae Won while waiting for Young Mi to pick him up. Actually, Kai just wanted to see Young Mi so he decided to wait with Jae Won. He then realised that the little boy was a trouble maker and a prankster but he couldn’t help but found him cute.

He looked at the kid as if he was his father. He didn’t know how he felt that way though. And he suddenly became curious of the Jae Won’s father.

He wondered where he was.
