A loud thud was heard at Donghae’s room, the maids made their way towards the young master’s room. The head maid Rosette saw once more another nurse being knocked down as she was only about to feed him, “My gosh! What in the world…” she helped the poor care taker.

“Are you alright my dear?” she cleaned her up, “I’m sorry ma’am but… I can’t take it any longer, I’ve gone to my limit” she weakly said. “I’ll be leaving now” she then took off and the other maids assisted her, she sighed at the way things are but in a way she got a bit used to it.

“Donghae… dear, how long will you be doing this to the nurses that take care for you?” she got closer to his bed where he lay for so long. He didn’t answer nor did he turned to take a look at her, “Donghae… it very hard to find a kind nurse for your situation and~” Hae spoke up.

“Why bother…? There’s no point if I was to be nourished back to normal but I highly doubt it” he had always been so bitter about having nurses around him, not because he didn’t liked them. It was because he didn’t want anyone around him. He wanted to confine himself into complete solitude but knowing Rosette, she would never cease to do her best for him.

“Don’t lose hope my dear, everything deserves to have a chance and what more could you? Your still young and strong, you can make it through this if you’d just let go of the past you’ve burden yourself with” she caressed his head gently. “How could I ever let go of that horrid day? Because of that day I’ve lost my parents, my love and… myself, there’s nothing more I aim to recover for” he stared blankly at the end of his bed.

“Recover for yourself, for your future. Even if you’d lost who are valuable to you, it wouldn’t mean that you’ve lost the chance to gain others for you to value next. Every loss has a purpose and with every loss you can always find another gain” she smiled at him, “I’ll bring you something to eat later on and I’ll also give you the medications” Hae only nodded none the less.

She stood and was about to leave the room but she stopped as she heard him, “Nana Rosette… thank you for being here… I really appreciate your patients with me” he kindly said but didn’t make eye contact; deep inside him he was still ashamed of his manner. “I would never leave you as I promised your parents, besides… you’re my little boy” she smiled and left.

Even with his bad attitude, he still respects the love of his nanny “Thanks for being the last family in my life” he whispered to himself.

The next day came

~~-=(o0o)=-~~

It was around 9 in the morning and it was time for Hae’s medications and breakfast, since he knows that the nurse just quit, he was expecting that Rosette would be the one who would bring his meal to him but, his expectations were wrong. A knock on the door was heard; “Come in” he permitted as he looked outside from his window to see the garden

He heard the door creak, “I’ve brought you your meal and your medicines sir” he heard a man’s voice in which he immediately snapped his head to see. He was rather shocked to see a guy giving him his meal, “Who the hell are you!?” he freaked.

“I’m sorry for the short notice sir, but, I was hired by Miss Rosette to take good care of you. I’ll be the nurse that’ll be looking after you” he kindly said as he continued to approach Hae’s bed. “Another nurse…? Why do I need another nurse? Most of all, why have a guy do this type of job?!” he wasn’t happy on what had happened.

“I do apologize if that’s the case, but, be assured that’ll be doing my best to get you back up” he smiled warmly and laid the tray at the table. “I don’t care if you could do a better job than the other damn nurses that have been here, I don’t care whether you’re the best or not. I don’t want a nurse, I don’t need one, and I don’t want to see one!” he yelled, but to his surprise the man’s smile didn’t wade even the slightest bit.

“I understand sir, but if you may. You could just think that I’m just a servant that’s willing to nourish you up, I only care for your health and recovery” he took the bowl of soup to feed him. But even before he was able to get a spoon full Hae swung his arm and knocked the bowl down pouring a bit on the man’s arm, the man groaned in pain “Get the hell out of here, I don’t want to be fed by someone like you” he heartlessly said, he expected that he’d given up and hated him just like the others did.

He heard him pick up the bowl, “I’m sorry sir if I didn’t got a firm grip on the bowl, but next time I’ll be more careful and help you eat properly for your meals” he still heard a kind tone from the guy. “Are you an idiot? I clearly told you that I don’t want to see nor be fed by you so just quit and leave!” he continued to be unreasonable.

“I’ve took an oath that I’ll never give up on my patient. For me that temper your showing to me only shows that, you need someone more than anything right now. I’ll be there for you then until your back to your fullest” he bowed and took off with the tray and the bowl but he stopped at the door way, “By the way sir, you can call me Kyuhyun” he smiled gently before he left.

Hae felt so pissed at that moment but he knows he’ll win this. “So you want to play, then so be it. I won’t show any mercy” he clenched his first in such frustration. For about half an hour, Kyu came back with another dish to serve him and he noticed that the guy had some sterilized bandage wrapped around the arm that got burnt by the soup earlier. He smirked a bit but didn’t want to let the guy see.

“I brought you some mushroom soup” he then looked at the spot where the previous soup landed, “I guess the soup’s all been cleaned, okay then. Here we go, oh yeah. If you don’t want to finish this its fine, you just need to have a couple of spoon fool so you take in your medicine and~” Hae made another swift swing of his arm.

But this time, Kyu was prepared; he was able to have a firm grip on the bowl so he was able to turn away from Hae’s assault. Hae’s eyes narrowed, “It almost got knocked down again, good thing I was aware” he showed him that kind looking smile once more.

“Get that damn food away from me and leave! I’m not eating nor am I going to take in that damn medication! Just leave me alone!” he looked away from him and crossed his arms at his torso, he acted like a child but he didn’t noticed.

“I understand how much you despise being looked after but, just like I said. I don’t surrender to the patient that I’m dedicated to look after, whether you like it or not I’ll just be by your side looking after you” Hae froze at that statement, he recalled his nana “Just remember Donghae dear, I’ll always look after you” Kyu noticed.

“Don’t bother on me, just please… leave me alone” he felt weary at the moment; he wants his nanny to be the only one who’d look after him but since she took charge of the whole mansion’s care she didn’t had the time to always be on standby in case he wanted her around.

Kyu in his part understood the look and shift of his attitude, “I respect your request, but as your care taker I want to make sure that you take your medicine on time, so I’ll bring you some wheat bread and a glass of milk and along with it is your supplements so you will still be at schedule” he smiled before taking off, Hae felt a bit pissed once more to see that smile that never seemed to fade.

He was very irritated especially about the fact that he was totally neglecting his orders, “Damn… this one’s rather though to shake off” gritted his teeth with such aggravation. For about a few minutes, Kyuhyun came back with some bread and milk. He laid them on the tray and gently he went closer to him, he placed the plate on the counter and slit the counter to be in front of Hae “Please, you must at least eat a slice or two and some protein even just a little before you should take your medications” he pleaded.

“Like hell I’ll do it” he stubbornly said and looked away.

Kyu sighed, “Alright then, maybe we should try something to make you eat at least” he gave a wandering look which fumed Hae’s irritation. “I know, let’s play a little game. I say a word and give me another word that’s the opposite of it. Does that sound fine?” he smiled and Hae didn’t even nudge to his little idea.

“Okay this is how it goes, for example, if I said high, you say low. Sounds easy right?” Hae huff a breath. “How childish, I won’t go along with that petty game of your nor would you ever make me eat” he concluded.

Kyu frown cutely at him, “You could at least try so you won’t be grumpy like that. Come on its fun” he invited. “I said no!” he yelled but Kyu was still not shaken. “Please…?” he cooed. “Knock it off your irritating, you’re not even convincing with it” he looked away. “Come on, you’ll enjoy it” he tried harder.

“What the ! What will it take to get you to stop it with your worthless games” he had had enough, “Just play along with me and just like I said, if you win I won’t bother you but if you lose I have to feed you and you would take in your medicine” he said nicely and still ignoring Hae’s retorts.

It took Hae a few seconds to comply with him, “Ugh… like I have a choice” he groaned in defeat. “Great!” he spoke in glee, “Alright then I’ll start first, honor!” he merrily said.

“Pft… just like what you’re doing… it’s a disgrace” Hae snickered but Kyu didn’t let that hit him, “Nice, and your turn” he complimented. “Why don’t you give the first and I’ll just answer” he suggested, Kyu shook his head “That wouldn’t be fair, we both need to take turns to know who would win” he chuckled.

“F-Fine… Life” he gave one a random thought, “Oh… that’s a sad one… death” Hae froze with what he had just said. He gulped, “My turn… hold” he said. “Release…” Hae answered back, he felt his heart starting to race. “That’s wonderful, now you” he pointed, “Remember…” he didn’t know what was going on with him after hearing that word but he still answered none the less.

“Forget” Kyu then stopped as he later noticed Hae’s eyes starting to tear up, “Is there anything wrong sir? Does something hurt right now” he stood up and accompanied him to see if anything was going wrong but Hae halted him before he could even get closer.

“N-No… nothings, wrong” he didn’t sound as offensive as he was earlier, “You win… I give up… I’ll eat it and take in my meds so don’t worry” he immediately said. Kyu just nodded, he was worried on what the makeshift was but in his thoughts it was better off being left for now.

Without further reminder he ate up the bread and finished it quickly, he drank the milk along with the medications. Kyu smiled at him as he had always had and bowed as he took everything before he would leave him, “By the way sir, you can always talk to me if something’s wrong or maybe… you just need someone to talk with. I’ll be willing to listen even if you don’t really enjoy my company” he gave one last bow and left.

That’s when Hae broke down in recalling what had happened for such long while, death, release and forget. Those were the words that had made him fall into chaos, “Mom… dad… Sunny” he whispered miserably his pained feeling. Donghae had never let go of the pain nor he had the strength to even let go of those memories he had for his parents and loved one, he had never given up on them even if they wouldn’t return to him.

Kyuhyun was fixing him up his lunch and his medications while a maid came close towards him and questioned him, “Did he make another tantrum when you came back?” he shook his head as an answer to her question. “Actually we played before I was able to convince him to eat” the maid raised her eye brow, “H-How? How were you able to persuade him?”

He chuckled, “He lost the little game” she wasn’t convinced though but she couldn’t think of any way to make the young master eat his meal and take in his daily supplements, “Hmm… by the way, I just wanna ask, why he is like that?” he questioned.

“Well I actually don’t know, I’ve been here for just a year now and the one that really knows the young master so much is Ms. Rosette, she was the young master’s nanny ever since he was born so that’s why she was the only one that the young master doesn’t raise his voice to” she told him everything she knows.

“Did you ever gotten curious on what had happened before?” he wanted to know more, “N-Not that I could think of… but to be honest you’re the 1st person to have made him eat and take his meds for the first day” Kyu chuckled. “I heard from Miss Rosette that he was a though fella to deal with, I seem to encounter that attitude of his” he kiddingly said.

“That’s right, he had been very rude and quite unforgiving on treating his nurses badly, he only ignored us but when it comes to the nurses that had taken care of him, and they all surrendered his bad temper or… some physical injuries he’d inflict to them” she looked carefully at the damaged arm, Kyu nodded in agreement.

“But there are words that came from the older maids here; they said that he wasn’t like that before. They said he had only been like that when he became disabled but before that he was kind and gentle. I on the other hand found it rather hard to believe but to think about it if I were in his shoes I might do the same thing though” it was truly evident that he had so much resentment at his state and the pain of loss he had felt, it was a phase in life that everyone would encounter in their lives.

“Thanks for that, I appreciate your information about him” he gave him a warm smile as always, “It’s enough of a hint for me to find a way to help him out” he thought to himself.

“No problem” she left and Kyu did the same, while on his way to the young master’s room. He thought of things to at least help him out, he knows something happened really badly for him to act like that. He knocked on the door then entered, he saw him looking blankly at the window without care. He was rather mellow in his form, it was what he noticed with the facial expression; he knows that he’s feeling the same pain that’s causing him to be like that.

“Sir, I brought you your meal” he gently placed the tray once more at the counter and slid it near him, “Same thing sir, if you don’t like to finish it up it’s fine, just have enough for you to take in your~” Hae contradicted. “Leave it there, I’ll eat it. Just leave me alone” he quickly said and not minding him any further.

Though Kyu appreciates that he’s no longer throwing the food, he was still rather concerned with his patient. “I understand sir” he was about to leave but he thought of an idea, “If you’d like sir, I’ll be willing to give you a stroll outside the garden once your done eating. It would help you greatly if you’d went outside for some fresh air” in some way it caught Hae’s attention, he slowly turned to face him, “S-Sure, you can come back here about half an hour, but for now. Please let me be alone” Kyu bowed in understanding and left.

When Hae heard the door close he looked at the garden once more, he remembered the pain and joy he had when he was young. He used to play with his mother and father, he loved their times together on that garden, it held so many memories than he could recall. “I’ve never really gotten out again” he craved for the garden so much but he never really had the courage to ask for it from his nanny.

“I still long for you guys… and… it still feel the same, it’s like it had happened yesterday” he sobbed, he was in totally agony knowing he had nothing else in his life, but if he’d open his eyes wider he’ll see that he still has more than anyone could ever ask for.
