Prolouge ;

Snowflakes fell from the white sky, covering the streets in a pale, white sheet of snow. Jongin rubbed his mitten-covered hands together, hoping to keep them warm till he arrived at his destination. It was the same old routine, visiting the orphanage to greet the little children a blessed merry christmas; along with gifts that were not so extravagent, but carried his hard work and big heart.

Jongin wasn't born lucky; to have a nice and caring family that loved and supported him. In fact, he didn;t even know who his birth parents were. His mother had unfortunately passed away after giving birth to him, and his father was nowhere to be found. But Jongin still had a chance at life; with an orphanage gladly taking him in and offering him a place to stay, with many other children who were as unfortunate as him.

He was thankful, and held no bad feelings for his parents that had just left him like that; and Jongin chose to appreciate the new family he had, making friends with the other children and spending his childhood well.

He was all-smiles and laughter, but there was one thing about Jongin that was very different from the rest of the children at the orphanage. He was afraid to step out into the outside world.

Jongin was scared. He wanted to step out into the snow; so so badly, but he never had the guts to do so. He was afraid that he would get lost out there, just like how he got lost from the minute he was born into the world.

But someone helped him overcome his fear.

Do Kyungsoo was 7 years old when he first step foot into the orphanage. He was very young, but very determined. Kyungsoo brought along toys and gifts during his first visit; hoping to make the other children happy. 

Jongin had never seen someone so kind and big-hearted before, and he found himself hugging the doe-eyed boy, saying how thankful he was, with the dog plushie he picked out trapped in between their tiny bodies.

"I didn't catch your name yet. I'm Kyungsoo, and you are?" Kyungsoo asked Jongin, who was still standing in front of him, their hands still locked.

Jongin looked up, his face slightly flushed from hearing how gentle Kyungsoo's voice was, and introduced himself with a smile.

"I'm Jongin."

Author's Note:

The christmas album already sounds so great, and I'm really in the christmas mood right now,

so I decided to write a kaisoo fic this year.

I didn't do anything last year, which was such a pity, so I'm writing this to show my readers

how thankful I am, ann especially because I've surpassed 500 subbies.

Take this as my christmas present to you guys, and lastly,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Update : the song 'first snow' fits my story, except that in my story kaisoo are apart for ten years, while in the song it's about two lovers being apart for a year. I think that's the only difference, and I'm kinda taking bits from the other songs in the album and writing them out as well :)
