Surprise

Misunderstandings

"Where were you yesterday?"

I know I sound a bit possesive but aren't all girlfriends the same?

"Oh, I went for some grocery shopping."

Lie.

"Then why didn't you answer my phone calls?"

"Ermm, my phone ran out of battery. Heh."

Another lie.

"Oh really? When did the supermarket sell couple stuffs?"

"W-w-what are you saying? I really went to the supermarket."

He looked away.

"Why, Woobin. Why?"

I can't hold it anymore.

Tears fall down from my eyes, slowly rolling down my cheeks.

"Why must you lie to me?"

"W-wait. Don't cry."

"ANSWER MY QUESTION!"

There. I shouted.

First time in my life, I shouted at my first boyfriend.

He was the first of everything in my life.

I can't believe that he lied to me.

And cheated on me with my bestfriend.

Just like that.

He kept quiet.

"Fine, I don't want to ever see you again."

"Wait, Minyoung! I have my reasons!"

I ran away from him.

But what I really want to run away from is reality.

I actually didn't want to believe those rumors about Woobin and Sunmi dating.

Until I saw it with my own eyes.

And I realised that I was fooled the whole time.

I switched off my phone to prevent annoying excuses.

That night, I cried myself to sleep.

The next day, I looked like a soul-less zombie.

Wait, do zombies even have soul?

I don't even care anymore.

"Minyoung-ah, my lovely daughter. Happy Birthday!"

Dad hugged me.

Mom was holding a cake and I'm sure she baked it herself.

My mind was in such a mess that I totally forgot about my own birthday.

"Thanks, dad." I forced a smile.

"Is something wrong, Minyoung?" As usual, I can't hide anything from my dad and he makes me sometimes wonder if he can read people's mind.

But this time, I decided to hide it from him.

"Nothing, dad. Perfectly fine." I forced another smile.

"Okay, but if you need someone to talk to, I'm willing to lend my ears." He hugged me again.

"Thank you." I hugged back.

Maybe Dad did make me feel slightly better.

I went to the place I didn't want to go the most, hell school.

Rumors about me and Woobin broke up spreaded really fast.

When I walked through the hallway, I was bombarded with questions.

"Did you really dump him?"

"Oh My God! Is it true?"

"Did you two really break up?"

I took my Beats earphones out and just plugged it in my ears.

I wanted to escape.

To escape from this nightmare.

Well... Luckily, Woobin didn't come and find me.

Neither did Sunmi.

Just thinking about them, my eyes started to get teary.

Speak of the devil.

They came to class whispering something.

And before they get to greet me, the History teacher came in.

And for the very first time, I'm glad that the teacher is always punctual.

I've never thought that reccess could be hell even though it was only 30 minutes.

And that 30 minutes was pure torture.

I'm going to walk pass them.

That is definite.

But that's only what I thought.

However, I didn't see them.

I sighed in relieve.

I went to the cafeteria.

Those students are so freaking noisy.

I'm glad that I brought my own food.

I wouldn't want to squeeze together with those non-stop-talking students.

Suddenly, I heard some mic sound.

"Mic test. 1,2."

And that voice belongs to the person I last want to talk to.

It was Woobin holding the mic.

With a pink ribbon tied to his head.

What.

WHAT.

I held my laugh in.

"Excuse me, everyone. May I have your attention?"

Actually before he asked that question, people are already staring at him.

"I just want to say something today. Today is a very special day."

He held a paper out.

"Why? Are you running for President of America?"

Some random guy shouted.

Everyone laughed at that joke.

"I wish to do so, but sadly it's not. Today is someone's birthday. I wanted to say happy birthday to her when the time strucks at 12a.m. because I wanted to be the first one to wish her but she switched off her phone last night. Few days ago, she kept asking me where I went. I didn't tell her. She asked me why was I with her bestfriend. I didn't answer her either. I told her I have my reasons. And today, I'm gonna tell her why. Minyoung-ah, I didn't cheat on you. I was with Sunmi few days ago because I wanted to do a surprise party for you. I worked for part-time almost until 11 o'clock every night because I wanted to buy you a present. I know you would be wondering why did I work for part-time even though my dad is rich. It's because I wanted to use my own money to buy a gift for you. I was at the gift shop with Sunmi because I didn't know what you would like as a present. I called her to accompany me to the shop and give me some opinion."

I spotted Sunmi beside him and she winked at me.

"Minyoung-ah, I know I lied several times to you but I just wanted to buy you a special present. I'm sorry for lying to you, Minyoung. Will you forgive me?"

I didn't notice that my tears started to fall again.

I nodded and smiled at him.

Woobin ran towards me and hugged me.

"So do you still want the present?" He teased.

I hit him hard on the chest.

"Ouch!" He pouted.

I stuck my tongue out.

He took a box out and opened it.

It was such a beautiful couple necklace.

"Thank you for the gift." I smiled again.

"You're welcome." He smiled back.

I was really touched.

"I'm sorry for doubting you." I said, feeling guilty.

"It's okay." He re-assured me.

It was such a touching moment for everyone.

Until...

"Kim Woobin, you're not supposed to use the school's microphone without permission. Detention later!"

"Awww man, I wanted to celebrate your birthday." He pouted again.

"Don't worry, I'll wait for you." I smiled.

I'm sorry for taking so long!

I've finally updated.

Hahaha.

I have another idea of a new story.
