Final.

Kitty Khristmas

“Yah! Kyuhyun! Where do you think you’re going?”

Cho Kyuhyun only glanced back at his partner, smiling mischievously, before bounding away. He knew the wizard would follow his familiar, even if he held the leash and Kyuhyun bore the collar. A moment later, Lee Sungmin was by his side, scowling at the – supposedly – misbehaving feline as they journeyed.

“Don’t give me that look, Sungmin. You’re not busy right now and I want to see snow. It’s Christmas in the mortal world. And a white one at that.”

Sungmin stopped mid-stride; mouth gaping at the innocent look the cat gave him.

“S-Snow?” Sungmin spluttered, “You want to see snow?”

The cat gave him a sullen glance, “Don’t say it like that,” he whined, “You’ve lived your life a traveller, globetrotting your years away before I arrived and you’ve seen much more of this world then I. Give me this chance, at least.”

Sungmin sighed, ruffling his blonde hair and feeling his heart melt at the pleading gaze Kyuhyun gave him, “Alright,” he relented, “But only for Christmas. We leave right away.”

Kyuhyun nodded; excitement and anticipation filled his body.

.:~*~:.

At eleven minutes past eleven, on Christmas Eve, two figures appeared atop a hill in Seoul Memorial Cemetery. One was wrapped in a thick black cloak, while the other was comfortable in tight jeans, a loose white shirt and black leather jacket.

“Kyuhyun, you’ll get sick like that,” Sungmin scolded, pulling a longer cloak out from the bag he carried, “Here, put this on.”

The familiar was about to protest and say his feline blood was keeping him warm, but the firmness in Sungmin’s voice kept his mouth shut and allowed the fabric to be draped over his shoulders.

“You’re like a mother, you know that right?”

He said it lightly, but the repressed look in his wizard’s eyes said the comment had ben received otherwise. Sungmin straightened the cloak in silence and Kyuhyun silently berated himself for being so daft.

“What’re you looking so dejected about? You wanted to see snow didn’t you?” Sungmin tapped Kyuhyun’s forehead lightly, trying to brighten the sudden mood by teasing. It worked. The mention of snow had Kyuhyun’s ears perking up and his tail twitched excitedly.

“Put that away,” Sungmin scolded, batting the mass of brown fur as it swatted him accidentally in the face, “People here aren’t used to seeing people with tails.” Kyuhyun pouted, but nevertheless did as he was told.

Finally glancing around them, Kyuhyun’s eyes lit up at the white ground, watching in awe as cold flakes floated through the air around them.

“Wow,” he breathed, watching his breath puff out in clouds, “It’s even more beautiful then I imagined.”

Sungmin smiled at the childish innocence that Kyuhyun displayed, as he held out his hands to catch the falling snowflakes. He crept up behind the familiar, wrapping his arms around Kyuhyun’s waist and burying his head in between his shoulder blades, as Sungmin was too short to reach his shoulder.

“Don’t think you’re getting anything else this year,” Sungmin muttered, “Bringing you here was enough of a gift.”

Kyuhyun turned his head, to gaze at the mop of blonde hair behind him and mewled softly. As Sungmin lifted his head, Kyuhyun turned around properly and grabbed his wizard’s hands, “Well I still need to give you, your present.” The feline hybrid smiled gently, as he tugged Sungmin forward, leading him through the gravestones of the cemetery.

As he was led deeper into the gravestones, instead of out the cemetery, Sungmin suddenly realised what Kyuhyun was doing and he could feel his eyes start to water. The familiar had been acting funny for the past few days and now Sungmin knew why. The little sneak had been digging up Sungmin’s past and had seemingly found out about his parents.

Kyuhyun finally came to a stop in front of an ornate tombstone; which bore the names and photographs of two people.

Lee Kyujong and Kim Hyojin
1956 – 1987 and 1958 – 1987
Two loving parents that will
forever be missed.

Sungmin could feel himself becoming weak.

He hadn’t been to visit his parent’s graves since his witch aunt took him away when he was 9.

                  It had been 18 years.

Kyuhyun wrapped his lanky arms around the wizard’s trembling figure and shushed him quietly, the soft blonde strands softly, feeling Sungmin’s chest heave as he tried to stem the tears that flowed freely from his eyes.

                  “K-Kyu…”

Sungmin had never sounded so weak to Kyuhyun, as the elder called his name hoarsely. The familiar let his wizard go and bowed before the grave, kneeling on the snow covered ground before beginning to speak.

“Mother, Father, it’s a pleasure to meet you at last. My name is Cho Kyuhyun and I’m your son’s familiar. I hope you’re watching over Sungmin and that you’re proud of him, because I know that I certainly am.”

Sungmin hiccupped quietly, his tears slowing and Kyuhyun smiled slightly.

“He’s an amazing wizard, though I’m not sure who he takes after, since you’ve passed on. We bonded late; at least, that’s what everyone else said. Sungmin was already 11 before I was introduced to him. He was the only wizard in his class that lacked a familiar. Was that your doing? Did you partner us together? If so, then I guess I’d have to thank you.”

At this point, Kyuhyun got to his feet and embraced Sungmin again, feeling the wizard snatch up bunches of fabric in his fists tightly and cling to him.

“My life has become nothing but fun and games since I met your son, something that I don’t regret and I will now openly admit, in front of Sungmin’s parents, that I have fallen in love with my wizard and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Sungmin froze, his mind working a thousand miles a minute to process what his familiar had just declared.

Kyuhyun was in love with him… And somehow, Sungmin’s heart became alive, fluttering madly in his chest and beating quickly, heating him from the inside out and making his cheeks warm. His head moved of it’s own accord and Sungmin found himself looking up into Kyuhyun’s dark eyes, seeing the glimmer of hope that they held and feeling his heart melt at the sincere feelings swirling in the dark chocolate irises.

The familiar leaned down, at the same time the wizard reached up and their lips connected; melding together perfectly.

There were no fireworks or butterflies like in the stories, but there was a warmth and a sense that it was just right, to be holding each other so intimately and indulging in their innocent desires.

Having each other was certainly the greatest gift that either could receive, if the content smiles on their faces were anything to tell by.

So wrapped up in each other’s eyes, the two missed the portraits of Sungmin’s parents change slightly; both now decorated with a smile.

Sorry this is so short, but I didn't really want to drag it out for too long.

Hope you like the KyuMin.
