"Jiyeon!" I yelled as I grabbed her wrist. "Why are you being like this?!" 

She pulled her wrist out of my hand. "Just let it go! What's gone is gone! Why must you hold on to old memories?!"

"Let's never forget these memories. You can forget anything but our memories." Jiyeon whispered. She held my chin and looked at me, "Promise me Eunjung unnie."

I smiled and nodded as I leaned down to kiss her. "I promise."

A tear slipped down my cheek. "Jiyeonnie... What changed?"

"I grew up. I'm not 18 anymore, I was naive back then. I actually believed that it would work out. But it won't unnie, it's never going to work. Not when we're idols."

"I can give it up Jiyeon! I can give up anything-"

"But I can't!" Jiyeon shouted. 

My heart clenched at those words. She wasn't willing to lose anything for our love. I mean nothing to her.

Seeing my hurt expression, Jiyeon's expression softened. "Unnie, don't you understand? This is my future? This is all I've ever known. I can't give this up for something I know will never work." She backed away from me as I stood there staring at the ground. She walked to the door and said softly, "See you at work unnie." 

As soon as the door shut, I allowed the tears I had been holding in to fall. I had promised Jiyeon I'd never cry in front of her. I had promised Jiyeon a lot of things.
