Every 100 years, 12 children are born under a full moon. These children would each be gifted with a rare special power. 

Because of their power, these children were usually hunted down and fought over by the warring kingdoms of the world. 

The powers ranged in strength but the rarest and most prized were those that controlled nature's elements.

Like nature, these powers were strong but more importantly, turbulent and dangerous.

The children that possessed these were used as weapons but because of their strength, they were also feared and therefore isolated from the rest of the world.

In the year of the dragon, the powerful kingdom of Exo was blessed and one of these special children was born into the royal family.

Though it wasn't a child of nature, his power was useful and had the ability to become just as powerful.

But they still needed more, they needed a child of nature to use in their upcoming conquests.

They searched and pillaged the villages in their kingdom for years and finally they found him, a child of lightning.

The rarest and most dangerous of the powers, the child could not only control lightning but could generate that raw power through his hands.

To control him, they forced the child to wear a special set of gloves throughout his life and kept him locked up in the palace, using him only to torture and kill their enemies. 

Born Kim Jongdae, but renamed Chen by his masters, the lightning child lived his days in darkness, imprisoned in the giant palace. 

People feared and avoided him and he only saw death and pain everyday.... death and pain that he caused.

Slowly as he grew up,he became numb to the screams and pain that he felt in his heart every time he used his power.

He learned to turn off his emotions but there was one thing he couldn't stop wanting no matter how hard he tried....... freedom.

He'd had given up hope long ago if not for Luhan, the other gifted child.

An unexplainable force drew them to each other, however just like night and day, they were complete opposites.

The darkness that loomed in Chen's heart was mirrored by the brightness in Luhan's.

The pain that Chen's power brought to the world equaled the joy and pleasure that Luhan's did.
