Prince Zitao and Prince Yifan were childhood friends, both boys travelling to one another's kingdoms frequently with their parents when they were little. But these trips got rarer and rarer as the years went by until they eventually dwindled out into nothing.

The last time they saw each other was when Zitao was ten and Yifan was twelve, the two of them hugging and not wanting to let go of one another when the olders final visit came to an end, tears flowing from the eyes of the smaller boy.

Yifan had made promises to Zitao during the years they had spent together and he intends to keep them all, Zitao accepting each rare letter he got from the older male and every gift from him with wide smiles and a thumping heart, treasuring them like they were precious jewels from his fathers crown.

And as Zitao's eighteenth birthday draws closer, he receives another letter, a promise from earlier years being fulfilled a few weeks later in the form of a white horse and another promise being made in a note that he won't be dancing alone at his birthday ball.

Yifan has never broken a promise to Zitao so far, he's kept them all so the younger boy has no doubts that the two of them will be reunited once again in the near future.
