IN VITRO*
THE WORLD has become so polluted and adulterated that it could no longer support life.
Wars came and went, leaving the Earth with less and less viable resources.
Man’s technological advances led to the Earth’s decline, creating an atmosphere that was poison to those living within it.
To address this, a group of scientists, engineers, architects and wealthy financiers gathered to create a SANCTUARY,
a DOME that kept the world’s poison out - and mankind’s hope in.
The DOME replicated the Earth’s former vitality, maintaining and preserving life
until the Earth was once again ready to support humanity’s essence, or man was ready to brave the world outside.
The TWINS held the secret to mankind’s survival; their genes, proof of something beyond Charles Darwin’s simplistic proposal.
Once in their care, the COUNCIL set to work
- the key to the preservation of life in the TWINS had to be found - and replicated IN VITRO*...
*In vitro (Latin:"within the glass") refers to studies in a test tube rather than inside a human/organism
**In vitro studies are substantially faster, less expensive, and can be done with fewer ethical and safety concerns.
***In vitro fertilization is the joining of a woman’s egg and a man’s in a laboratory dish.
The Original Twins: Wol Saebyuk and Sol Haenim
Twin girls whose genes held the secret to mankind’s survival.
As children, Wol Saebyuk and Sol Haenim manifested multiple abilities that showed that humankind has yet to achieve a potential far greater than what was once thought possible. Separated after the incident that shut down the Facility, Wol Saebyuk and Sol Haenim have grown to become as different and alike as yin and yang.
The Trio: Xiumin, Suho and D.O
Raised by the government to be expert fighters and skilled tacticians, nothing could have prepared them better for their current jobs. The Trio answer directly to the Council, acting as a high-ranking independent body of the government. Though not of the same blood, the boys’ loyalties to one another remain unparalleled.
Baekhyun and Chen
Baekhyun and Chen are twins living in the slums of the North. Knowing what would happen to them if the Council found out about their abilities, they choose to live as rogues - taking on those who fell to fates similar to theirs.
Kris and Chanyeol
Kris and Chanyeol are twins raised in the residential district of the East. Trained as mechanics during their final year, there is not a single piece of machinery that these set of twins cannot fix. After graduating from the Academy, they settled on building their own business centered around creating automobiles and the occasional repair jobs.
Luhan, Kai and Sehun
Many are quick to conclude that Luhan and Sehun are related, much to the dismay of Kai, Luhan’s real twin. Being raised all together when the twins’ parents took in Sehun when his parents died, the three have had nothing but a rocky relationship. Despite this, the youngest boy, though unrelated, is grateful for being treated like a true son and brother. The presence of his ‘brothers’ alone is enough to calm his anxious heart.
Lay
Born and raised with an incredibly kind heart, Lay took it upon himself to care for those around him. Having exceptional skills in treating the sick and wounded, he was granted the position Head Medic. This is the perfect disguise for his powers, known only to three of his closest friends.
Tao
A man shrouded in mystery, Tao knows more than he lets on. Punctual and precise, he knows the value of time and keeping within its laws, but he also knows that time must be bent in order to preserve the future of mankind.

maiesta: Seldi, would you mind telling our readers how this story came about~?
seldi: I can barely remember how this started, but I know I had it brewing in my mind for quite a while, along with a lot of other plot bunnies… And with maiesta’s help, this world was created, and the story on its way!
maiesta: uhuh~ I remember staying in school after sunset just to finish creating this world, in the dark, without turning on the lights because we’re both too lazy to stand. Even the guards were side-eyeing us already, thinking that we’re doing schoolwork… if only they knew.. *shakes head*
seldi: I think a lot of people get that misconception with us. Although others (maiesta: close friends~!) would automatically say, “EXO” when they see us together. HAHAHA. Anyways, back to In Vitro… Yes, we’re being nerdy here.
maiesta: Who came up with the name anyways?! Was it you? Or did I accidentally let it slip through my nerdy mouth? =)))
seldi: nah, I think we were chatting and thinking about what to use as the title and one of us randomly sprouted In Vitro since our boys ---
maiesta: --- aniya~!! shush!! Don’t spoil our readers!! XD it’s enough that they’re getting dictionary meanings of the word, what if they delve deeper? They’ll figure out our deepest darkest secrets… HAHAHA!!
seldi: please no. Haha! Anyway, dearest readers, forgive our babbling. Back to our story. This story, as you can probably tell from the description, is set in a dystopian world… more will be revealed as the story progresses. If you have any questions, just post your comments! We’ll do our best to update as often as we can - we’re a few chapters ahead, so… ^^ then again, we are also students with CRAZY schedules, so we might disappear sometimes. Haha~ Just a warning!
