If he/she was... what is he/she now?
OHSEHOON'S WORKSHOPThis is a problem I came across within the first few stories of the "exo" tag. I'll admit it myself, I am guilty of this with my stories... and not surprisingly, I still have yet to fix it lol.
Now you may be wondering ,what the heck is this girl talking about? Well, I'll tell you exactly what I'm talking about.
Active/passive voice
Active voice: when the subject is doing the verb's action
Passive voice: when the subject is acted upon and receiving the verb's action
Of course, if your story is talking about a flashback or the past, then passive voice is okay to use. Otherwise, try your best to avoid doing so because it just makes your sentences sound funky.
If you're confused as to what point I'm attempting to convey here, here are some examples:
Passive voice: Sungjae's mom was a doctor and works at the hospital nearby.
Well, if she was a doctor, what is she now? How in the world is she still working at the hospital?
Of course, this is easily fixable.
Active voice: Sungjae's mom is a doctor and works at the hospital nearby.

Passive voice: The cookie was stolen the cookie from the cookie jar.
(Subject is acted upon)
Active voice: Kyungsoo stole the cookie from the cookie jar.
(Subject is doing the action)
