The pouring rain fell heavily that night as she desperately ran around the city, looking for him. She could hear the water splashing around everytime her feet touched the ground and the only thing that was keeping her from getting completely soaked by the rain, was the umbrella she was holding. She could already feel the coldness passing through her bones as the night got colder.

However, she didn't stop. She kept on running desperately as she bit her lower lip, hoping he was ok. She was really worried about him at the moment and she feared he would do something stupid because of the pain.

"Luhan oppa!" she yelled as she searched for him. People on the streets turned to look at her as if she was crazy for running in the rain and yelling, but she didn't mind them. She only cared about him in that moment. She had been looking for him for hours already, but she was not going to give up. She needed to find him.

She felt as if her heart would come out the moment she finally spotted him on a park after several hours of searching for him. A sigh of relieve escaped her lips, seeing that he was ok. However, it broke her heart to see him in that state. He was sitting under a tree that barely shielded him from the rain and he was hugging his knees tightly as he sobbed desperately. It was a really heartbreaking scene and she couldn't bear to see him like that.

"Luhan oppa" she softly spoke his name as she walked towards him and covered him with her umbrella, letting the raindrops fall over her instead. She was panting and her legs had gone weak for running so much, but she didn't care. All she cared about was that he was ok.

"I loved her very much, Eunji ah" he suddenly said hurt as he sobbed desperately. She felt a sting of pain in her whe she heard him say that. She knew very well that he loved her more than anything, but it hurt to hear it from him. "I would have done anything for her, but she left me"

"Please don't cry anymore" she said as she knelt down in front of him and tried to wipe the tears that were rolling down his face.

"She left me" he said as he cried even more. "Why did she do that to me? Did she not love me enough?"

Eunji was suddenly left speechless since she didn't know what to say. She didn't know what to say to comfort him. And even if she found the words to do it, she knew that still wouldn't work. Because there were no words that could heal a broken heart.

She could only sigh. It broke her heart to see him like that. It hurt so damn much to see the person she loved, crying over someone else. Because Eunji had been in love with Luhan for as long as she had memory, but the person that owned his heart was someone else. Someone that had left him and left his heart broken, just like her heart was in that moment.

She suddenly walked closer to him and hugged him tightly. Luhan rested his head on her shoulder and sobbed hardly, letting all the tears of pain he had been keeping inside. Eunji closed her eyes tightly as she tried to hold back the tears herself. Her own heart was breaking into little pieces with every tear he shed. Seeing him cry like that was unbearable. It was too painful.

"Please let me fix your broken heart Luhan" she said softly, but he did not reply. Eunji hugged him tightly. All she wanted was to take the pain away from him. "Please let me be there for you"

She wanted to help him move on and to heal his broken heart. If she could do anything to make him feel better, she would do it. She would do anything that was necessary to not see him suffer anymore. Even if it meant letting her own breaking into pieces.

Months passed painfully slow and now Eunji and Luhan were finally dating. However, Luhan did not love Eunji and everyone knew that, even herself. He still couldn't stop thinking about his old love and he was only with Eunji so that he could forget her. She was just a rebound to him, but she didn't care. She loved him too much to let him drown in pain. She'd rather suffer and being with him knowing he didn't love her, than seeing him depressed.

"Eunji ah, you should just let go of him" Bomi, her best friend, told her many times. Bomi had seen her best friend suffer and shed many tears because of Luhan and she couldn't stand it anymore. Eunji deserved someone who could love her as much as she loved him. However, she didn't like it when they talked about it. Everytime Bomi brought the topic up, she would only glare at her. "You are just hurting yourself by being with him" 

"I'm not going to break up with him, Bbom" Eunji said determined and her friend simply sighed. "He needs me"

"He is just using you to forget about her!" she said, a little bit pissed off and Eunji simply looked down and smiled sadly

"I know" she said in a soft voice 

"He is just a selfish bastard!" she said angrily and Eunji glared at her once again.

"Stop it!" she said "I know what I'm doing ok? I love him and I don't care if he is just using me as rebound as long as he is happy"

Bomi simply looked at her friend and sighed once again. She couldn't understand how she could still love him so much after everything. Luhan tried to be good to Eunji, she couldn't deny it, but that was only when he was sober. When he was drunk, which was most of the time, he would just cry and keep reminding everyone that he still loved his ex girlfriend and couldn't forget about her. Eunij would have to take care of him and bear with all the pain. The next morning, he wouldn't remember a single word he said.

The two girls remained silent as they continue walking. Eunji was lost in her thoughts as she sadly stared at the ground, while Bomi simply looked at her friend and sighed. 

In that moment, Bomi's cellphone rang, making her snap out of her thoughts. She smiled when she read the name on the screen and then answered.

"Hey Kyungsoo oppa" she said

"Bbom ah, are you there with Eunji?" he asked and by the tone of his voice, Bomi could already tell they were bad news.

"Yes, why?" she asked worried and Kyungsoo sighed on the other line

"Luhan hyung is here and he is drunk" he replied and sighed once again "... again"

"We'll be there soon" she replied "Please keep an eye on him meanwhile"

"I will" he replied, before hanging up. Bomi hung up as well and then turned to look at Eunji, who was looking at her with a worried expression. The moment she told Kyungsoo to keep an eye on 'him', she could tell she was talking about Luhan. Eunji simply sighed.

"Luhan is drunk again" Bomi simply said and Eunji nodded sadly, before the two girls quickly took a cab and rushed towards the bar. 

When they arrived, Eunji's heart fell when she spotted Luhan lying his head on a table and with a drink still in his hand. Kyungsoo, who worked there as a bartender, was behind the bar wipping some cups as he watched his friend closely. When he looked up and saw Bomi and Eunji, he sighed relieved and then smiled.

"Hey girls, sorry for bothering you at this hour" Kyungsoo said and the girls simply smiled

"Thank you for keeping an eye on him, Kyungsoo" Eunji said and then walked towards Luhan, who was still mumbling incoherent things as he sleep on the table. She sighed as walked towards him and gently his hair. "I'll take him home"

"Do you think you can handle him on your own?" Bomi asked worried and her friend just nodded

"My shift is almost over, I can take you home when I'm finished" Kyungsoo offered with a smile

"No, it's ok" Eunji said with a faint smile. She appreciated his sincere attempt to help, but she didn't want to bother him or Bomi anymore. "I can handle him... besides you have to take Bomi home"

"At least let me call a cab for you" he said and she nodded with a smile. Kyungsoo called a cab for them and when it arrived after 15 minutes or so, he helped her carry Luhan towards it. After saying goodbyeand after Bomi and Kyungsoo told her to take care and to call if she needed anything, Eunji left with an asleep Luhan to her apartment.

When they arrived, Eunji carried him towards her bedroom and tucked him on bed. He was peacefully sleeping and Eunji couldn't help but smile as how innocent and cute he looked asleep. She stood there for a while, just watching him sleep and caressing his hair gently as she felt her heart beating faster. After such a long time and despite everything, he still could make her heart skip a beat. 

Eunji was about to stand up and go to sleep in the living room, when she suddenly felt grip on her wrist. Her eyes widened when she turned around and saw Luhan was half conscious and was holding her wrist. She almost lost her breath at the sudden contact and her heart skipped a beat.

"Please don't leave me" he said, still a little bit sleepy, but with a really begging voice. Eunji just smiled and caressed his hair once again

"Don't worry Luhan, I'm not going anywhere" she said

"Joohyun ah... don't leave me" he said and Eunji's heart suddenly fell. Tears started forming in her eyes as she couldn't handle the pain. Luhan wasn't calling her, he was calling her old love. Conscious or not, the only person in his heart was her. She tried to hold back her tears, but couldn't. They fell non-stop.

Eunji didn't even have time to react because suddenly, Luhan crashed his lips against hers. Her eyes widened in shock and her heart fluttered. It was what she had always wanted, a kiss from Luhan. However, it didn't feel right... because he thought she was her... he would never love her for who she was.

Eunji struggled to push him away because his grip was too strong and when she finally managed to do it, he fell on the bed and a few instants later, she heard his snores. She looked at him, with her eyes slightly widened in disbelief, but then her expression softened. She sighed, before smiling sadly and caressing his hair.

The next morning, Luhan opened his eyes slowly, bothered by the light that came from the sun rays. As soon as he did so, he groaned in pain. His head was throbbing and aching. He looked around, blinking many times, and felt slighty confused. His travelled around the room and when they finally laid on his side, he was surprised to see Eunji there, sitting on a chair next to the bed.

"You are awake" Luhan said softly and she simply nodded as she smiled gently. She couldn't tell him she had barely closed her eyes, since she was too worried about him. He simply looked at her and then groaned again and held his head. "My head is killing me"

"You got drunk last night" she said "Again"

It sounded slightly like a lecture, but he didn't seem to notice, although that didn't mean he didn't feel bad about it. He only sighed and patted his forehead gently, groaning once again.

"I'm sorry" he said and Eunji didn't reply. He then looked at her and she avoided his gaze. She didn't want him to see the sadness in her eyes. He didn't want him to notice her bloodshot red eyes, or the dark circles below them. She had been unable to sleep properly the previous night, sobbing silently. 

"I-It's ok" she lied and faked a smile.

Luhan remained silent for a while, just staring at cealing and thinking about something, and then turned to look at her with worried eyes.

"Eunji...?" he said suddenly and she looked up to look at him finally

"Yes?" she asked

"D-Did I say something last night?" he asked, worriedly and her eyes widened slightly "I mean...something I shouldn't have said?"

Eunji was shocked at the question, but then simply faked a smile. She couldn't tell him he had been calling her again. She just couldn't. And besides, a part of her knew that very deep inside of him, he knew he still missed Joohyun. But like every time he asked that question, she answered with a fake smile:

"No" she lied and he nodded, feeling a little more relieved and then smiled.

"Eunji ah" he said suddenly "Thank you"

She simply smiled and was startled when he suddenly pulled her into a tight hug. Her cheeks blushed slightly, at the sudden contanct. She wasn't used to have him so close and that kind of reminded her of the night before. Eunji sighed sadly, but Luhan didn't seem to notice. He hadn't mentioned anything about the kiss, so she guessed he didn't remember. 

Her heart suddenly ached at the thought of that. Maybe it was for the best, but still, that didn't mean it didn't hurt. She had now realized she couldn't stand the situation anymore. He still loved Joohyun and he would probably would never get over her. Her friends were right, she couldn't keep doing that to herself. It was unfair. For both of them. She had to end things with him.

It took Eunji several months to finally make an actual decision, but when she finally made it, she was completely sure of what she was going to do. That night, Luhan had gotten drunk again. She simply sighed sadly and instead of taking him to her apartment like she usually did, she took him to his own apartment. She tucked him on bed and then looked at him sadly. She looked away inmediately though, since she was afraid that seeing for too long would make her change her mind.

"Goodbye Luhan" she said sadly, before planting a gentle kiss on he forehead. She then walked out of his room, trying to hold back her tears and before she left, she wrote him a note saying she was sorry and that she loved him, but that he deserved happiness with the person that he truly loved and it was not her. 

When Luhan woke up the next morning, he was confused like always. However, when he found Eunji's note near the nightstand, his eyes widened. He got up from bed inmediately, despite the hangover, and rushed to find Bomi or Kyungsoo. However, neither of them knew where she was. Apparently she had left Korea and no one knew where she went. It was hard for him to believe that Eunji had left without telling Bomi anything, but he finally realized she knew as much as he did.

That night, Luhan got drunk again and for the first time it was not because of Joohyun. That night he got drunk because of Eunji. Because he felt guilty and for the first time also, he realized he missed her and than he truly needed her.

3 years later

Eunji lazily got up from bed that morning and yawned as she looked at her reflection in the mirror of her room. She hadn't changed much in three years, despite the fact that she lived in another country. Ever since she left Luhan, she had been living in China without telling anyone. It took her several months before taking the decision of contacting Bomi. She told her about her where she was and that she was okay and she made her promise she wouldn't tell Luhan. And of course, Bomi agreed to do it.

Eunji then went to the bathroom to wash up and to get ready, before walking downstairs of her new apartment. Even after three years, sometimes she still felt like an stranger in that apartment. Maybe because it was not filled with the same memories the one in Korea was. At first it had been difficult for her to adjust to her new life in China, but with the help of a certain someone, her life there had been more than just bearable. It had been blissful.

As she walked towards the kitchen to prepare breakfast, she jumped startled when she suddenly felt a pair of arms wrapping her around her waist. She shrieked in shock and heard familiar chuckle. Then, the same pair of strong arms pulled her towards him and she smiled.

"You scared me, silly" she said as she playfully his his arm. He then laid his chin on her should and gave a her a gentle kiss on her neck, making her giggle slightly. 

"Good morning, sleepyhead" he said

"How come you walked in without me noticing?" she asked as she turned around to face him. He smirked and wrapped his arms around her waist as she wrapped hers around his neck. 

"You sleep like a rock, Jung Eunji" he said and she rolled her eyes. He then leaned in and they shared a sweet and long kiss. 

"I love you" he said when they pulled away and she smiled as her heart fluttered

"I love you too" she said and she truly meant it.

For a long time, she thought she wouldn't be able to get over Luhan, but then he came. Wu Yifan, the guy that had changed her life completely. The guy that had picked up the pieces of her broken heart and that had thought her how to love again.

At first he had been only a friend to her. Simply a nice guy, who had helped her adjust to her knew life in China. However, with his patience and his love, Yifan had slowly crept up on her. She had slowly fallen in love with him.

"So, what do you want for breakfast?" Yifan asked as he walked towards the kitchen, followed by her. "How about pancakes?"

"Aren't you supposed to be chinese?" she asked, mocking him and he simply chuckled.

"Do I need to remind you that I lived in Canada for a long time?" he said and she rolled her eyes

"Fine" she said and he chuckled once again "Pancakes sound great, anyway"

"I knew you'd want them" he said and smiled, before grabbing the pan. Eunji simply sat there and rested her elbow on the kitchen counter, with her chin on her hand and as she watched him doing what he was doing. She smiled at the sight of him. She felt really lucky to have him.

Her thoughts where suddenly interrupted when the doorbell rang. She jumped off her seat, feeling a little bit startled and Yifan laughed at her silliness.

"I'll get it" she said

"It's your house anyway, dear" he said and she stuck her tongue at him. He chuckled once again as she walked towards the door.

Eunji's eyes widened in surprise when as soon as she opened the door, someone inmediately pulled her into a tight embrace. Her heart stopped for a second after she realized who it was and she felt slightly dizzy. She was too overwhelmed with emotions to react.

"Oh god, how I  missed you" he said and she felt a sting of pain in her chest. For a long time, she would have killed to hear those words from him, but now she didn't know what to feel.

"L-Luhan... what are you doing here?" she asked, stuttering. She pulled away from the hug and looked at him in the eyes. He was smiling and his eyes were teary. 

"I needed to find you Eunji ah" he said and held her hands tightly "I'm so sorry for everything I did"

Eunji was speechless since she didn't know what to say. 

"I regret letting you go" he said and sighed as he held back the tears "I know I realized it a little bit too late, but I hope I can have a second chance"

"Luhan... I..."

"Is everything alright, baby?" she couldn't continue speaking was cut off suddenly as Yifan walked out of the kitchen to check what was happening. Luhan's eyes widened in shock when he saw the blonde guy walking out and wrapping his arms around Eunji's waist. He felt a pang of jealousy when he saw them and he still couldn't believe his eyes.

"Ah yes" she said and smiled at him. Eunji noticed how Yifan glared at Luhan and felt slightly nervous about it. She didn't want problems with any of them. 

"Yifan, this is Lu Han... an old friend" she said and Luhan smiled faintly at the man in front of him. Somehow, the word 'friend' was not accurate since they had a past together and Luhan didn't like the way it sounded. It made him feel... unimportant.

"Luhan, this is my boyfriend Wu Yifan" Luhan's heart dropped the moment he heard the word he was so scared hear. 'Boyfriend'... somehow he had expected that when he saw him warp his arms around; however, he had kept an slight hope that they weren't a thing. 

"Oh" Luhan only managed to say and his sadness could be noticed. Yifan only glared at him, before turning to Eunji and sighing.

"I'll let you two talk alone" he said and Eunji nodded. Yifan then cupped her face gently and planted a soft kiss on her forehead, making her smile. "I'll be in the kitchen if you need me"

She nodded again as she watched him disappear into the kitchen. She then sighed, before turning to Luhan, who was watching her with sad eyes. He smiled faintly when she looked at him and she tried to smile as well.

"Why are you here Luhan?" she asked and he sighed as he looked down

"I had the slight hope that I could win you back" he said and that made Eunji's heart hurt slightly. 

"What about Joohyun then?" she asked, a little bit hesistant. She didn't want to remove old memories, but curiosity was killing her. Luhan looked at her and smiled sadly, before sighing.

"When you left I thought I was going to fine" he started saying "I thought that it didn't matter since the only person I loved was Joohyun... however, I was wrong"

He made a pause and sighed once again.

"I realized I missed you more than I wanted to admit... that I needed you" he said and then smiled bitterly "When I realized I loved you, it was too late"

Eunji felt a sting on pain in her chest when she heard that. She was confused and she didn't know what to say. She had longed to hear those words from him for a very long time and now that he was finally saying them, it didn't feel right to her.

"I love you Eunji ah" he said suddenly said and Eunji didn't know what to say "I just wanted to let you know that"

Eunji then looked at  him and sighed.

"Luhan, you don't how long I had wished you would say those words to me" she said and Luhan's eyes seemed to lit up a little bit, but she seemed to be avoiding his gaze. "If you had come after me a few years ago and had said that to me, I wouldn't have hesitated to accept your feelings,  but now... things are different... I...."

"You love him" he said, finishing his sentence. She avoided his gaze once again and simply noddded. She then sighed, unable to continue speaking and Luhan suddenly felt his heart sink. He gulped and tried to ignore the sudden in his heart. He smiled sadly "I see"

"I'm sorry Luhan" she said "I really loved you once, but now my heart belongs to Yifan completely"

"No" he said and smiled at her, trying to hold back the tears "It's me who is sorry...."

"I really regret not realizing my feelings earlier" he said as he caressed her cheek, sending shivers down her spine. Eunji sighed and then looked at him, before giving him a smile.

"Well, sometimes things happen for a reason" she said "Maybe we weren't meant to be"

"Maybe..." he said sadly and then smiled faintly. "I'm glad you found someone that loves you like you deserve"

"I'm glad I found him too" she said with a sincere smile, that broke Luhan's heart into little pieces. He totally deserved the pain he was feeling at the moment. He had been such a jerk. He had played with the feelings of a girl that loved him dearly, just to forget about someone that couldn't love him. Back then she loved him dearly, but he loved someone else. Now, somehow, tables had turned. Now he was the one that loved her, but she had someone else in her heart. It hurt so damn much and now he understood how much Eunji had been hurting.

"Goodbye Eunji ah" he said, trying to hold back his tears "I really wish you happiness"

"Me too" she said smiling sincerely. 

Luhan then suddenly pulled her into a tight embrace, startling her very much. Her heart suddenly skipped a beat. She knew that deep inside her heart, she would always care for Luhan. However, her love belonged only to Yifan now.  The guy that with his patience and love had fixed her broken heart.

After they broke apart, Luhan turned around and left. Eunji only sighed, before walking inside her house. Once inside, she headed towards the kitchen and found Yifan, who was lost in his thoughts.

"It's him, right?" he asked softly, with his eyes still fixed on the pan as he cooked breakfast. "The one you once loved so much"

"Yeah" she said and noticed how his expression hardened. She smiled and then walked towards him, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her head on his chest. Yifan closed his eyes and hugged her tightly. 

"He meant a lot to you, didn't he?" he asked

"Yeah" she replied once again. His grip on her tightened a little and Eunji could sense jealousy in him, which made her smile. "Are you jealous?"

"Well, of course I am..." he said with a sigh and she giggled. She then raised her head and looked at him, without breaking the hug. "He was the love of your life, I don't even know if can compete with that"

"Yifan, it's true that I once loved him dearly" she said, making his heart sink a little "But that was on the past, ok? I only love you now, more than I would want to admit so don't be jealous"

Yifan's face seemed to brigthen up a little after she said that and he smiled. Eunji giggled, before planting a soft peck on his lips.

"Really?" he asked

"Yes, sir you are the only one in my heart" she said and that made Yifan smile once again. Then they shared another long and sweet kiss. Yifan had no more doubts of Eunji's love as she was completely sure he was the one. They only broke the kiss when a smell caught their attention. "Hey, are your pancakes burning?"

Yifan's eyes widened as he inmediately broke apart and went to check the pan. Eunji only laughed as she watched her boyfriend put the burned pancakes away.

From the outside, someone was watching the scene of the perfect couple with a bitter smile on his face. Luhan let the tears roll down his eyes as his heart sank. He realized as he stared at from outside the window, that he had no hope to get his Eunji back. If only he had realized he had an amazing girl by side before... If only he had given himself a chance to love again, instead of holding back to a memory...

"Maybe you were right Eunji ah..." he said with a bittersweet smile "Maybe we just weren't meant to be"

He could only sigh as he walked away with a lot of regrets. He had realized that timing was really important, because no matter how much someone hurt another person, time always healed wounds. Time had been an enemy to him, because if only he had realized his feelings sooner, Eunji's heart wouldn't have changed.
